loving this new body i once had
Chelsi replied to Madelyne Bonthron's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
haha same as above. i was in work and i was feeling my side and i turned to my coworker and said "oh my god i have a lump, i need to call the doctor." he came over and pressed down and was like "chelsi, that's your hip bone." -
i stayed one night, though they said i could stay another. i wish i would have stayed another night, the first night home was very painful.
-
i made this last night and it was truly delicious! even the junk food snobs in the house scarfed it down!

if we were not getting a snowstorm tonight i would stop at the store on my way home from work to get the stuff to make this! been craving chicken cordon bleu! can't wait to try!

Isopure Zero Carb Protein Drink
Chelsi replied to Scrawny's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
they were a lot easier to drink immediately post op than the powders and ready-to-drink shakes. there were a few flavors i really liked (apple melon, alpine punch, blue raspberry), and some flavors i couldn't stomach (coconut, grape). they were cheaper online, in gnc and other vitamin stores they are like $4 a bottle! -
just want to point out that a lot of people advise to not stock up on protein powders and bars until after your surgery. a lot of people's taste buds change (mine included). before surgery i preferred the powder to ready-to-drink shakes, but after surgery i find the powder way too sweet for me (except the chike iced coffee) so i mostly drink the premier and pure protein ready-to-drink shakes. drink what you like best pre-op, but buy a few samples or individual shakes for post-op because things might change. good luck!

I found something i LIKE ;)
Chelsi replied to donaboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the broth also helps with the gas pains in the beginning because it's nice and warm! -
i don't own one and i'm so happy that i don't. every time i go to the doctor i'm worried i'm not going to lose as much as i did the month before, but i'm always happy when i lose more! i'm glad i don't have one at home because i would be obsessive, plus i trust the doctors scale more than a home one. one time i weighed myself the week after a drs appt at my friends and it said i GAINED two pounds. i went to the dr the next day and i had actually lost 5 that week. better consistency using the same scale!

how is it possible that i had been wearing a 42DD for the LONGEST time, and i went to jcpenney today because my boobs are doing some weird things and got measured. apparently i'm REALLY a 42DDD!? what the hell was my bra size BEFORE losing 61lbs???? i feel like i'm doing this being a woman thing all wrong!

How do you take your crushed meds without gagging
Chelsi replied to itsnevertoolate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have perfected this method. take applesauce (my dr had us taking pills in applesauce from day one) and put a dab on a big spoon ( like a tablespoon, not a teaspoon). use a smaller spoon to rub it around so it coats the whole spoon. crush your pill, pour into the center and gently move the spoon so some of the powder goes into different places (all of it bunched up will make you gag!). then take another dab of applesauce and pour it over the top of the crushed pill, gently moving that to cover the powder. take your pill! you still get a hint of the pill, but it's not nearly as bad as literally mixing it into applesauce. i hope this helps! -
Whats your meal plan?
Chelsi replied to Ellenenchanted's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i start my day off with either a Protein shake (ready to drink because i can't stomach the powders since surgery) or a Protein Bar (i like pure Protein Bars, lots of yummy flavors). lunch i usually do Breakfast because i LOVE breakfast and i feel like i'm getting deprived doing the protein bar or shake in the morning, so i'll make an egg with cheese and a piece of sausage. for Snacks i usually have a string cheese or apple slices. dinner i eat at work (i work evenings and in a group home) so it's whatever my coworker makes, but we always have protein and a veggie. dessert i usually have a greek yogurt with a few sugar free chocolate chips and almonds thrown in. it's really making sure that you have everything to succeed in your fridge. my husband is a junk addict who lives off of poptarts, Cookies, and tostidos (and doesn't gain a pound!) so i make him hide it all so it's out of my sight and i'm not going to grab for it. -
i actually had the opposite problem, where i had my period for 3 weeks the first time i got it after surgery. i think it's because our bodies are still in shock and adjusting to all the changes going on. but i'm 3 months post op and everything is back to normal!
-
hey guys! so glad to hear all of us are doing so well! i was sleeved september 18th, and i'm down 41 lbs since surgery!

i'm almost 3 months post op and my surgeon doesn't want me taking the large "horse" pills. even for an antibiotic i needed last week, they suggested liquid instead of the regular pills. i asked if i could take the calcium pills because i'm not overly fond of the caramel chews from the doctor (sweet is like SUPER sweet to me now) and he said i should be taking the petite calcium pills. so small pills 3 months post op are alright, i suppose. i think every doctor is different, though.

Chelsi replied to Yoly617's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i use miralax in diluted apple juice. it sometimes takes a day to work, but it is safe to use. -
Eight weeks out: Can I eat nuts now?
Chelsi replied to outwithbenjiboi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was allowed nuts at 8 weeks, but you should really check with your doctors first. every program is different. -
Something poking out of one of my incisions?
Chelsi replied to hopeliveshere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had one too, it was a stitch. my surgeon said it would pop out on it's own, and it did. just make sure you show him or her next appointment. -
Will I be sipping forever?
Chelsi replied to LuminousLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm almost three months post op and i can pretty much guzzle a good amount of Water at a time. i try not to, mostly because i'm paranoid, but you definitely get past the baby sips a few weeks out and can take more normal sips. -
Alternative to Protein Shake?
Chelsi replied to kimikat3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i found protein powder shakes to be way too sweet for me after surgery. even now, at almost three months post op, i can't stomach a blender bottle shake. i can only drink pre-made shakes. i vary between the premier protein chocolate ones (cheapest at bjs/costco) and the pure protein ready to drink chocolate and vanilla. i only pick those up at walmart because i don't have a costco membership and bj's doesn't sell them. -
Are Gummy Vitamins Same As "regular" Vitamins ?
Chelsi replied to LSCLatina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i take the Centrum chewables (they're like orange flavored tabs). i tried to take gummy Vitamins but my NUT said that's a big no-no because they have more carbs (vitamins have carbs!?) and they don't have Iron in them. apparently no gummy vitamins have iron in them, so if that's on your list of requirements, you might need to look elsewhere. -
My brother who is a heavily involved body builder has the Up by Jawbone and he LOVES it. He keeps telling me he's going to get me one for Christmas since he's started training me at the gym. But the Fitbit is more affordable. I do love that the Up tracks your sleep, something that I think I could benefit from greatly since my sleep schedule is usually messed up.

Anybody Else Cheating?
Chelsi replied to MississippiQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The main reason I didn't cheat on my post-op diet was because I was terrified something would go wrong. I was deathly afraid I would be that one person who had a leak or tear out a staple or something. The fear of me having to go back into the hospital outweighed my need to eat food. Just something to think about, because if, God forbid, something does go wrong, you then have to tell your surgeon "well, I was eating this and this" just to hear "you're not supposed to be." It wasn't worth the risk, in my opinion. -
Period Issues Post Surgery?
Chelsi replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i use nuvaring as BC and usually i don't get my period until i take it out. this month it actually started before i took it out, which was very strange. and it lasted a day longer. so yeah, i think it's because our bodies are still somewhat in shock. -
you look amazing! such an inspiration!

Food Glorious Food! Finally Made It To Solids. Tips?
Chelsi replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my sign is usually a hiccup. i also get a feeling like i know one more bite would be uncomfortable so i don't even test it. my advice is to go slow with introducing new foods. just in case something doesn't agree, you didn't test three things at once and you're not sure which one is bothering you. hopefully nothing does! good luck!
