13 days post op ... Spicy hot sauce?
gamergirl replied to liz89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been eating spice since day 3 and don't seem to have a problem with it. My husband can eat less spice than before, but he too has been partaking. I guess I don't know what's going on on the inside of my stomach but I don't have any weird symptoms. -

Where do I stop...goal weight related....

This wins my "most helpful post ever' award. i have long suspected I've set my goal weight too low for me, and this confirms it. I set it at 145, and I should set it at 165 so as to not completely lose my curves which I like. Thank you!! -

Do family & friends think you're doing the right thing?
gamergirl replied to Mid West's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In answer to your question about did they think I was doing the right thing, I don't know. I didn't ask anyone. I did tell select people what I was going to do and let them decide how they wanted to react to it. All of us had some problems with food otherwise we wouldn't need the surgery. If it only worked for non-grazers, or non-wine lovers or non-food lovers, then there would likely only be thin people lining up for the surgery, right? None of us fatties would have qualified! While it is true that you will have to limit the wine, and limit your grazing, don't underestimate the power of 6 months of not being able to eat that much. It's a slow, forced re-training for our eating habits, and as long as you are committed to taking that time seriously, to use it to change your habits, you should do just fine. -

My new NSV: My husband doesn't know me anymore
gamergirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So we go to the grocery store yesterday. My husband and I split up to divide and conquer the pesky grocery shopping. After a bit, he starts to look for me. I was standing in front of him, just down the aisle. He didn't recognize me right away I think he likes my new body. I suspect it makes him feel like he's with a brand new woman. hahahahaha! -

This is such a big thing in our lives, that I feel fortunate to have him with me as we make this change. I want many, many more years with him and my boys. Here's hoping they come to pass! -
Oh. My. Gawd! I see a lot office here but this one is AMAZING. Huge transformation and great photography btw. Congratulations!

Fresh juicing info requested please
gamergirl replied to StephaniesCharm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, I used a vitamix before surgery to keep all the fiber. Even with that, after a month of doing it, my husband and I had elevated blood sugars. Went up 20 points in one month! We were told to stop immediately. We are both carb sensitive obviously. If you have high blood sugar, are car sensitive or insulin resistant, I would not reccommend it, based on our experience and my detailed chat with the PCP on what she routinely sees in her patients. -
To the OP, if you want something crunchy, maybe try some roasted edamame. A fourth if a cup has 14 gms of protein and they are crunchy goodness! I'm having my first bowl since the surgery (well a very tiny bowl) and they are very satisfying and filling, and good for you.

Remember you're talking to a sleeved woman now! I might very well decide I need to be on DWTS and get on there! don't challenge me! :-D Seriously I see the wonderful physical things that people on this forum accomplish afterwards and nothing seems out of bounds does it?? No not a celebrity, just a celebrity wanna be maybe What I am is single minded. I start working, I forget everything else. -

lucky ME! He has lost so much weight as well (Sleeved same day as me) that I can get my arms all the way around him. It's so absolutely wonderful to be able to hold each other close like that. <3 -

this is so true! I do best when I eat at pre-scheduled times and don't go hours and hours without food. Teh problem is once I start working, I don't think about food.j At the risk of sounding like a princess, I have always had assistants who knew they'd have to feed me. Now, my poor husband has taken over teh job and just brings me food from time to time through the day. I suspect my assistants and my husband did it willingly because without it, I MAY be just a little unpleasant to be around? I dunno -
so the paris trip went well? I know you were concerned about how you'd manage this close to the surgery etc.

Good! I posted an ethiopian ground beef one the other day. Today I think I might try either doro wat (ethiopian chicken) or I've really been wanting to do a shrimp cocktail. They are so easy to eat at this point and so protein-y, that I think a fresh tasting one might be nice. we'll see which one strikes my fancy tonight

My husband cooked the rest while I was working! so I didn't get a chance to try them with different toppings dang it. Oh well, excuse to try them again!
-
I do think the cream is necessary, one could try half and half but in each crab cake, there's less than a tablespoon of cream and I can only eat one, so I think it may be worth it. My husband is from Washington state and so when we go visit his family, we do fly to Seattle and then drive. You could trap me just fine!

Congratulations! What an amazing achievement. May I ask how tall you are? I'm 5'6 and I was 53 kgs when I came to this country at 20 years old, but now I look at my 13 year old son who weighs about that and think that's quite low for me to ever achieve again, but I'm not really sure, so curious about you since you're close to that weight.
