Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

I'm girding my mental loins so I can get started on this. Do most of you do it in a gym or outside? I am wondering if one needs of measure speed, distance, incline etc or just put on your shoes, plug in your headphones and just go?
  4. That sounds like classic lactose intolerance. Go to the store and get you some Lactaid pills and take 1-2 with your first sip of the shake or first bite of yogurt and it will stop.

    Potatoes?

They do increase your blood sugar rather rapidly but also provide sometimes-needed carbs. On days when I am really tired, I eat half a baked sweet potato, but I do that while keeping my overall carbs low. I have to be careful because I am carb-sensitive. Others don't have to watch it so much. White potatoes can and do increase your insulin secretion. What that means is that when the sugar-high from them is gone, you will feel hungry again. Also I've tried a bite of two of potato, and it didn't sit well with me so I suspect they are very dense. If you are going to eat some, go slowly is my suggestion.

    Is this normal

We started solids about 4 weeks after surgery so I've been on them for 4 weeks. I don't have any trouble with anything, but I suspect it's because I measure out or weigh my food. After the first few days we realized that my husband who was sleeved the same day, can hold 4 oz at a time of solid food (like chicken), but I can hold 2. So we measure it out and eat that. But like I said, it takes 5 meals a day of which some are shakes to get all the protein in.

    Is this normal

i am 8 weeks out and i can only eat 2 oz at a time. I measure out my food and eat it, and when it's gone, I'm done until the next meal. I eat 5 times a day so as to get in all the 600-700 calories, and in between, all I seem to do is remember to drink. Sounds like you're doing fine.
  12. you won't like this answer but the way to get out of the stall? wait. yup, that's it. In the meantime, eat your Protein, drink as much Fluid as you can stand. and wait.

  16. Recipe with pictures here: http://sleevers.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=487&action=edit&message=6&postpost=v2 I wanted something fresh-tasting but high protein. This fit the bill! The beauty of this is you can make it all from scratch, or if you’re in a hurry, buy some pico de gallo and get boiled shrimp and make this in a jiffy. Makes 4 half-cup servings. Ingredients For the Pico De Gallo: 1/2 small red onion 2 ripe tomatoes 1/2 large cucumber 1 small jalapeno pepper 3-4 tbsp cilantro 1 ripe avocado For the Sauce: 1/8 c ketchup 1 tsp cholula sauce or other mexican hot sauce Juice of 1 big fresh lime 1/4 tsp ground cumin 1/4 tsp ground coriander 1 tsp salt or to taste For the Shrimp 1/2 lb shrimp peeled, devined and tails taken off 1 tb salt Method 1. Chop all pico de galo ingredients into small cubes of uniform shape and size. I totally cheat and use this to chop everything including the tomatoes. Just be sure to put the tomatoes skin side down and it will go through your onions, tomatoes, cucumber, jalapeno and yes even the cilantro. 2. Mix all ingredients for sauce. 3. Mix sauce with chopped vegetables and let it sit. 4. Meanwhile heat 3-4 cups of water in a pan. Add 1 tbsp salt to the water and let it come to a boil. While you are waiting, get a small bowl ready with ice water. 4. Once the water is boiling, put your shrimp in and set the timer for 2 minutes. When the timer goes off, pick out the shrimp and dump them in the ice bath to stop them from cooking. 5. Cut cooked shrimp into bite size bits and mix with the sauce and vegetables. 6. Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Score like so. Then use a spoon to gently scoop out the cubes. Mix these in with the rest of the dish gently so as to not break the delicate avocado. Enjoy!

    Dating post-op..does it get easier?

Dating sites are a beating at every size and weight. It's a numbers game and you just have to be active on the site and work at it. Also what serendipity said, meet them quickly. No amount if online chatting and email will help you figure out the chemistry.

Did you go over your calories and fats and sugars or whatever you're tracking? If not, you are prob okay. If yes, work out a little more to tomorrow and just don't eat another one for a while. You'll do okay. ((Hugs))

If your shrimp is limp, you didn't follow my directions I eated it all. I should feel bad maybe? I dunno. it's well within my guidelines. It just tasted too darn good to be so low calorie.
