    October 100 Mile Challange!

You just did several of us just started this month. Just keep track of your miles and log them here from time to time, and have fun.
  3. So not to be a damper on this cake thread, but here's a recipe for a red velvet protein shake. Someone want to try it and report back? 1.5 scoops vanilla protein powder 2 tablespoons cottage cheese 2 tablespoons fat free cream cheese 1 tablespoon cocoa powder Couple drops of red food coloring (optional) 1 packet of stevia Handful of ice cubes
  4. Oh it's so good! We make it with 4 oz of soy milk, 1 scoop of chike coffee, 1 shot of espresso, and some ice all blended together. Nice way to start the day.
  5. That's so funny, I just told my husband we should try that because we've got all these RTD's sitting around from pre-op that we haven't used. Definitely worth trying. Thanks so much for explaining how you do it.
  6. does it have a fairly prominent coffee flavor? the reviews on amazon for that brand are exceptional.

    Sausage?

I made some italian sausage meatballs yesterday and they were yummy and easy! Then I looked at calories in each and the fat in each (260 calories in each link) and decided I couldn't afford to eat them. I was sad

    Spanish Proscuitto wrapped shrimp

well for 73 calories, you can afford to be hungry for them
  10. I'm also stuffed with 3 of them. it's ridiculously good. Kinda like chorizo because of the smoky paprika.
  11. What do you stuff the jalapenos with Butter? I was thinking of stuffing them with string cheese but I'm not sure.
  12. I made shrimp wrapped with proscuitto instead. It satisfies my desire for bacon without the fat. Nom nom nom http://sleevers.wordpress.com/2013/10/12/spanish-proscuitto-wrapped-shrimp/
  13. Ooops! Thanks for catching that. hake is type of firm-fleshed white fish. My first time trying it as well.
  14. For once, I got organized, made a mental list, went to Costco and shopped with recipes in mind. SO not me, but it's worked out well. This week, I'll be posting the following recipes. In parentheses are what I bought at Costco for each recipe. I also tried to make smaller portions because I'm still cooking for an army, and we're having too many leftovers. So I defrosted one package of chicken thighs, and used them for two recipes here. I'm also going to try to be better at posting nutritional labels for the food. All are high protein and low carb. Spanish smoky proscuitto wrapped shrimp (Frozen shrimp in blue bag, and proscuitto di cittero) Thai Chicken curry in the crockpot (chicken thighs. These come in a package of 6. I used half a package--2 thighs for this) Jamaican chicken curry (chicken thighs. These come in a package of 6. I used half a package--2 thighs for this) Lebanese Kafta Kabab with ground beef. American Hake with lemon pepper and butter (Hake loins. Individually frozen making them very sleeve-friendly. Big bottle of lemon pepper seasoning. Huge! Might try to find someone who wants half) Indian whole "roast" chicken in a crockpot with garam masala (whole chicken) I will NOT be posting my inedible attempt at a chicken enchilada casserole. Sigh. I will try this one again. It looked beautiful and tasted...not beautiful. If you would like to sign up via email, go to www.sleevers.wordpress.com and follow using your email. You'll be able to see these as they get posted. Enjoy and please do leave me comments on the blog if you try them.
  15. Sorry to be so logical but how is it hypocritical to be against fat shaming? Any decent person would be against fat shaming. What would be hypocritical is if you were NOT against it. If you used to be fat and now make fun of other fat people, then THAT would be hypocritical. Your friend is not only hurtful, and jealous, she is also illogical. Sorry I know that wasn't the point of your post, but maybe you can see how not only is what she's saying to you is mean, it also makes no sense. Which means she's manufactured some stupid reason to pick on you. People who don't love all of who you are should not experience the pleasure of your company. Let her go, which I know is easy to say but will likely come with pain, and open yourself up to new experiences and people who think you rock. So sorry she did that to you ((hugs))

    Dinner tonight HELP!

that should be okay, you just wont get your protein in. How about the herb grilled salmon or hte parmesan crusted tilapia and you bring most of it home? Or the sicilian scampi from the appetizers and ask them to hold the bread? They have mozzarrella on the flatbread so they should be able to give you a small serving of that anyway.

    Dinner tonight HELP!

It's more than the carb thing. Many people report feeling horribly bloated afterwards and have the potential to make lots of people sick and that would ruin dinner. Also it's my understanding that things like pasta, bread, and rice swell in your stomach due to their carby goodness (carbs absorb water) and that swelling can push on your new staple line and cause a leak. So definitely do not have the pasta, it could be dangerous right now.

    Popcorn!

In which case I will continue to enjoy it now because right now, at 10 weeks post op, it's still goes thunk quite hard. My husband and I split a 100 calorie bag, and I chew each kernel one at a time and at the end of it, I get so full! Oof.

    Dinner tonight HELP!

I looked up their menu and it does a bit tricky. I'd suggest anything with shrimp, tilapia or salmon with no Pasta seems like the best bet. Someone said they have a small plates menu (http://www.olivegarden.com/promo_content/menus/greenhouse_lunch_121712.pdf) If yours has that, the chicken spiedini seems like the thing to get. It may not be as soft as you need though. honestly if it were me? I'd either do one of the fish things OR I'd ask them to get me some fresh mozzarella slices from the caprese salad, but no tomatoes. Those are nice and soft. enjoy!
