  2. Pictures and nutrition facts at: http://sleevers.wordpress.com/2013/10/12/spanish-proscuitto-wrapped-shrimp/ Smoky, luscious, bacon-crisp without the fat, and easy. Who could ask for anything more? This is a bit messy to make so be careful not to touch your eyes with your paprika-laden hands. So worth it though. Serves 4 sleevers Ingredients 6 (6-inch) wooden skewers 2 tsp olive oil 1 tsp smoked sweet paprika 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper 12 large shrimp 6 slices very thinly sliced prosciutto Method 1. In a bowl, mix together the olive oil, paprika, and black pepper. Mix in the shrimp carefully and let this mixture rest for 30 mins. 2. Meanwhile, soak the skewers in water. Do not skip this step unless you want your oven to catch on fire. 3. Thread the shrimp on the skewers. Start with the fat end and stretch the shrimp, poking your skewer out through it’s tail. Place on foil covered baking sheet. 4. Once all the shrimp are threaded, take the proscuitto di cittero and prepare to get a little frustrated. The slices are very thin and they tend to lump together. Think saran wrap, clinging to itself. What I found was that it was a lot easier to peel the paper off the proscuitto than to peel the proscuitto off the paper. So hold the paper up and peel it off carefully. 5. Use half a slice to wrap the shrimp. Unless you are about to enter your shrimp in a beauty contest (or are OCD), don’t worry about how even it looks, it’s still going to taste fantastic. 6. Turn oven to Hi Broil. Place shelf about 6 inches away from the heat source. Put in your shrimp and broil for 6-8 minutes but watch it very carefully. When the proscuitto is all crisp and the shrimp are opaque, you are done. Serve with plenty of napkins.
  3. At first I drank my Protein shakes like a good girl. Then I struggled through them. Then they made me sick. By the time I was post op, I was so sick of them, I'd rather have starved. Three things saved me. 1. If you find yourself getting nauseated with them, chances are quite good that you are lactose intolerant, especially after the surgery. I take lactaid pills with my first sip and it really helps with nausea, diarrhea, gas, gurgling, cramping hell. 2. I found two shakes I liked. Yours will be different but for me it was Chike coffee protein, Syntrax mint chocolate chip, and I can also tolerate Syntrax Double Stuffed cookie. It helps to make only 4 oz, with 1 scoop of powder, half a cup of liquid, and the rest ice to make a 6 oz cup to slurp on, so keep the quantities small. 3. HIgh protein Soups. These saved me. You can't do these unless you are on full liquids, but once you're on them, and if you are sick of sweet Protein Shakes, please do try these. I am posting links to my blog where I have posted them. Full disclosure, I do not make money off this blog, so this is not for self-promotion. I like creating different recipes and sharing so I hope they help someone. Sorry I don't have pictures yet for these, but I will get them up there soon. Once you are through your liquids stage, also search for soft foods, or look up the ground chicken and ground beef recipes, and you may find something you like that is sleeve friendly. Here's the list of soups: 1. Egg drop Soup ( I will post a proper recipe but boil chicken broth, stir in two beaten eggs when it boils, stir with a pair of chopsticks. Take it off the flame immediately, cover, and let it sit for 5 minutes to let the egg cook. Add salt, pepper, and my fav, some sesame oil for a fresh flavor). 2. Hot & sour soup 3. Shrimp "bisque" 4. Lobster bisque 5. Tortilla soup 6. Chicken and mushroom soup

    Left scapula issue

I'm spatially challenged so I couldn't follow everything you said but I did follow the part about "do I need to go to PT?" And the answer to that is YES. Perhaps this thing you discovered by accident, they could have taught you a long time ago. Last time I had to go to PT, the therapist was my son's age, tiny, and I was skeptical. I was re-learning how to walk, how to sit on the floor and get up, etc. I thought that stuff was too easy to need help for. After weeks of struggling, she had me doing it in 3 days. My son fought it for weeks. Therapy has been hugely helpful for him too. So go to it and stop being a man thinking you don't need help!
  7. All the very best! I hope you go into this feeling proud that you put in the work to prepare your body for strength, success, and stamina to recover well from the surgery ahead.

    Best and worst "compliments"

Interestingly we've had two house guests after surgery, my dad who got here as we started soft foods, and a friend who visited later. Both were very struck by how much discipline, work, will power, and planning it all took. My dad started out saying perhaps my brother and his wife should get the surgery. A week later, he changed his mind and said he thought it was a lot of work and that he didn't think they could stick with it. It's a matter of educating people. It sounds easy but really it's just ignorance talking. So next time someone says that, as you mentioned, invite them to follow your every move for 2 days and see how they feel. I remember reading about a woman who fed her family 1200 calories for two days, and had them realize how difficult their advice of "just go on a diet and lose it" actually was to follow.

    October 100 Mile Challange!

Did 7 miles on my stationary bike today for a total of 32. I guess I will make the 40 miles this month I planned when I first started this challenge Heck it may even be time to up my goal to 60? Just scared myself thinking of that but that's my new goal now. Makes me happy

    October 100 Mile Challange!

I'm really annoyed that each of the days I was logging in more than a mile a day, I was stalled for all 12 days of that. And the two days I barely logged in a mile, my weight started to drop again. That just messes with my brain! That seems illogical and I want to know why my body is doing stupid stuff like that. Because it makes my fat girl brain think I should not exercise which my logical brain realizes is silly. I did spend 4-5 hours on my feet nonstop yesterday cooking for the week so it's not exactly like I was a slug. But still. So while my two brains duke it out with each other, I will drink a cup of coffee. And then I will get on the bike and try to catch up on my miles a bit. Sigh. Is there a reason why this could have happened or is it just, as I suspect, coincidence and the stall was about to end anyway?

  13. I hate to tell you but there are cookbooks with semen recipes (I just threw up in my mouth a little as I typed this) so Oreo balls would be a piece of..um...cake in comparison

    Its LOSE NOT LOOSE!

this cracked me up your obviously real bad at giving advise and real good at making people loose their mind, or you could of tried harder to be more helpful, but now that you've already posted it's a mute point. My personal pet peeve? When folks say they're nauseous but mean they're nauseated. Nauseated = I feel sick Nauseous = I make YOU feel sick

    Green Tea and Belly Fat

really the only way it could help with fat is via increasing thermogensis for a while which any caffeine would do. It also has antioxidants that can reduce inflammation. But the studies you see, people were drinking so much dang green tea to get those effects, for most of us it's not quite reasonable. There is some research to suggest belly fat is a result of excessive cortisol, which is the stress hormone. In that case, meditation, not "caffeination" is likely to be better IMHO. I think a good diet low in calories is probably what helps best with fat, whether belly or otherwise.
