    Crunchamame: my new love

They're soft crunchy like pirate booty or soft Cheetos kind of texture. If you want a side dish, try the frozen ones. Those turn out like little hard peas, not mushy.
  3. (This post shows up a little better on my blog because I can intersperse pics with the narrative, so posting the link in case it's easier to see there: http://sleevers.wordpress.com/2013/10/15/when-it-comes-to-weight-loss-trends-matter/) I woke up a little anxious today. I’ve been obsessing about this whole weight loss thing. I’m counting calories, Protein, carbs obsessively. I’m so hungry that I’m hangry (hungry + angry). I’m worrying about whether I’m eating too many calories even though I’ve stayed under 800 calories. Every half pound up or down on the scale is driving me crazy and I’m taking it personally. So I decided to do what I do best, which is to look for trends in numbers and to use numbers to tell a story. There are three pictures below. The most depressing is to look at my weight over 7 days. Oh, see the stalls! Oh woe is me! Clearly I’m failing! oh no! I cut 85% of my stomach out and I’m failing! I take a deep breath and look at my 30-day trends. Hmm, maybe it’s okay? I still see those flat lines that look like stalls. I dunno. But hey at least I see some drops. It’s looking a bit better. But I wonder what it looks like at 90 days? After all, I’m in this for the long haul and so perhaps I should have a longer-term perspective. So let’s look at a 90-day trend. Whoa! What do you know! All I see are steady declines. I don’t see the stalls that much anymore. Rather what I see is a line that consistently goes down. Perhaps I’m doing okay after all. I now see a trend line that is reassuring, that is different from what I’ve achieved before, and that I believe will continue for a while. Now to keep this perspective throughout the week ahead and not get frustrated. I need to do this because I'm driving myself (and my husband) nuts. What does your trend line look like? If you're on MFP or any other app tracking your weight, do this and see for yourself. Would love to see them posted so we understand that success isn't a straight line down, it's a line that generally trends downwards.

    Okay, seriously?! :/

My husband wants you go know we have a boat for sale if that will help Jokes aside, glad they found out and I appreciate the warning because I've been worried about no fruits and veg for us too. Time to add it back in. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  5. Water is also essential for lipolysis which is how fat is mobilized. I think if you provided your carbs, Protein and total calories or specific meals people might give more specific advice too. Also since you are working out and likely gaining muscle, are you tracking inches? Are your clothes fitting differently?
  6. Oh that's a good idea! Especially if one does it in the middle of the week, when there's woke, kids schools etc to distract us, that would work.

    October 100 Mile Challange!

Wow. Sobering thought. My husband was headed for diabetes and I doubt I was that far behind. So glad we did this. Thanks for sharing this.

    Low calorie and emotional equilibrium

There's a word for that. Hangry. As in, so hungry you're angry. I'm not fun to be around until my body adjusts to the lower calories. I used to get tired, emotional, weepy, angry all of it. We used to joke that the only days we ever lost weight was when we felt like crap. Thankfully the sleeve has helped with that. Last week I tried to not eat when I was hungry, and it all came back. I'm letting myself of the hook a bit now and allowing myself to eat small quarries when hungry, and there's a huge difference in my emotional state. It may just take a few days for your body to adjust.
  9. I think you should call your specialist rather than ask here. There may be meds you used to take that are okay to take vs not with a sleeved stomach. I wish I had some useful advice but I can only offer sympathy.
  10. What did you used to do for it before the surgery?

    Am i losing my mind?

My husband and I both like to cook and feed others. We still enjoy cooking. We still enjoy good tasting food--all three ounces of if! We still enjoy having friends over. I eat out with clients all the time. I just eat smaller quantities. No one notices, no one cares, and I keep getting thinner. What's not to like? You are correct, it IS a huge lifestyle change but it's a bigger mental change than a physical one in some respects. The only real physical change is that you will eat less. Mentally however, you have to let go of food as fun, food as comfort, etc. For me, I'm a control freak so being in control of my food intake, rather than feeling I had no control over it is so liberating, I'd do the surgery all over again. But you kinda have to be there mentally. The other thing I'd say to you, is once the surgery is done, it's done. Tell yourself now that after the surgery, you will embrace all the changes and be positive, that's the choice you will make. Go into it feeling positive, in control, and determined to be happy with all that comes your way, and you might surprise yourself. Good luck!

    Biggest loser

So my doctor in Mexico? Their office has operated on some of the people on biggest losers. They were too professional to tell me who, and I don't watch TV so It wouldn't have meant anything, but apparently some of those people have had VSG.

    October 100 Mile Challange!

Stationary or like, road bike? Mine is stationary. I got mine very I expensively on amazon. It's not exactly this one but almost. I bough it because of the rave reviews and for mine, they said it was virtually silent which it is. Exerpeutic 900XL Extended Capacity Recumbent Bike with Pulse http://amzn.com/B005OU4E1M
  14. Diligence without obsession. I'm stealing that phrase for my new motto. I did see one of your posts where you said you and your NUT had decided it wasn't working for you, and that was on my mind as I was going through this. Oddly the past two days where I've just eaten when I'm hungry and refused to analyze or obsess, I've eaten less. Go figure.

What?! How? It doesn't count if you like, DROVE it or something...
  16. Difficult is that patient who doesn't call when she needs to, waits until she gets worse, and then bothers her doc on a Sunday by needing to be admitted
  17. I would call the doc tomorrow. It's probably nothing serious but anytime recovery goes backwards rather than forward, it's a food idea to ping them anyway. Sorry you're not feeling good Are you eating healthily? Have you increased fat or sugar or carbs or something that your body's not liking maybe?

    Fitness and sleeping

There an insomnia thread in the powder room with people reporting exactly what you're going through. Fall asleep just fine and then wide awake at 3 am. Maybe worth checking out
