How do I tell him I am not interested?

I love Jane's suggestion. I will also say from both my own experience as well as based on what some of my male friends do, that the random text after a week of no contact? Is a booty call. He's bored, he doesn't have a date, he decides to see what you're up to. So definitely time to put a stop to it. I could be wrong but I could also be very, very right.

    I got hit on!

How cool is that? Enjoy the glow
  3. Great thread. I'd like to add a few. 1. Know that the first few days suck. The way ou feel the first few days is not how you will feel for the rest of the pre-op. After five tired days, I felt GREAT and had even more energy than I did before. I also felt successful and that boosted my confidence. 2. Don't tell yourself it's okay to cheat, just because some people here did and didn't have complications. Maybe they got lucky and you won't. Tell yourself you cannot chest and you're less likely to. 3. Do not chew and spit out food. It's very bad for you and confuses your stomach which has been secreting acid, waiting to receive that food you've been chewing. 4. Understand that the purpose of the pre-op is to shrink your liver. It is not to lose weight. If you do, great. But don't tell yourself you can eat just because you lost weight. See (2) above. 5. If you do cheat tell your doc immediately. Do not post here and listen to people telling you it's okay. We are not doctors. We don't know what's okay. Don't let anybody tell you not to follow your doctors orders. You can choose to get a different doctor if you want. But you should not get one and ignore what she tells you. 6. It doesn't matter if you understand why your doctor's diet is different to everyone else's. Don't use that as a reason to justify cheating. If you trust your doctor to take out 85% of your stomach! trust her to know what pre-op she thinks you should be on. My husband and I got sleeved by the same doctor on the same day. We had the same BMI. We had very different pre-op directions. Don't second guess your medical professional. 7. Know that whatever lies our fat brains want to tell us, going against doctors orders either pre or post op vastly increases your likelihood of complications. 8. Believe that you can do this. Really. Believe it.
  4. Me three. I eat one a day when I'm traveling but they do not fill me up. The pure protein ones do. I had to quit oh yeah. Too much like a snickers bar and started cravings for me.
  5. Aaand I probably should have read the other pages before I posted because I read you weren't asking for help or advice but rather sharing your frustration with the surgeon.oops. I can delete my post if you'd like?im kinda half man so I always look for solutions even when people are just venting. I will say the reason I didn't automatically delete my post is because I do think for people like us, letting go IS part of the issue. It's also part of your issue with your surgeon thinking she knew better what was good for you and ignoring your input. I would respectfully like to suggest that while her bedside manner may have sucked, maybe she does know better. Maybe.
  6. Daydra I read your whole post and I can so relate. You don't know how hard I have been working to NOT do exactly what you are doing, which is exactly what I used to do before the surgery: try to find my own answers. I'm a problem solver. I'm well-educated. I know more about my body than any doctor who doesn't take time to understand me. Only I can help myself. And then I hit 230 lbs by trying to solve my own problems my own way. When I decided to have the surgery, I didn't worry about food funerals, not being able to eat, social life, etc etc. I worried that I wouldn't follow the plan. That I would continue to to think I could educate myself and customize and tweak things for myself. For me, getting mentally ready wasn't about food. It was about giving up control. About subjugating myself to a plan, not overthinking it, and just DOING it. Super hard for people like us! But there is a plan here. In broad strokes, it's to eat between 600-800 calories, get at least 60 gms of Protein and drink at least 64 oz of Water. That's it. Don't question it. Try it. Your doc is right, our metabolism isn't like that of people who have not yo yo'ed. Some studies suggest our metabolism is up to 40% slower! But there I go again--using my knowledge and science to justify something. I don't need to. For once, I don't need to know. I don't need to be the expert. I just need to follow orders. As much as I HATE following orders, that's what I need to do. I don't even need to understand why, even though half my posts are all about why why why. Your admission to the ER was due to a stricture and dehydration. Don't relate it to calories. Eat your protein, drink your water and keep your calories between 600-800 while losing. Just do it for a few months. FYI, my husband is 6 tall, big burly man, was 298 at his highest, 278 DOS and is 225 now. Very muscular. And he follows the same plan as I do. Eat between 600-800 calories, get at least 60 gms of protein and drink at least 64 oz of water. I hope I didn't sound harsh because I say this to you with love. Let go my dear, and let the plan take over.

    Another NSV today....I am dumbstruck!

So happy for you! Are you at goal already? I saw some size 8 jeans in the store the other day. I can imagine fitting into 10s but I cannot imagine ever being an 8

    Feeling dehrydrated and alone....

I don't have any advice just wanted to say I'm so sorry you're going through this. I know you'd posted once wondering if you were getting anorexic? Is that affecting your drinking as well do you think? I sure hope you feel better soon.
  9. I'm feeling guilty. Not because I'm eating crap or anything like that. I'm feeling guilty because I'm relaxing! While on vacation! How crazy is that?! I feel like I should be outside, walking, snorkeling, doing something. But really what I want to do is lie in bed and futz around on my iPad. I can't even vacate without guilt. How wrong is that?

    Magnesium and muscle growth

Btw fiddle, it's supposed to help you sleep at night. Maybe that's what you need for your insomnia? Friend of mine was doing strict Paleo, and training for a hellacious bike ride. He started to have trouble sleeping from all that exercising. Sound like anyone you know? Took some magnesium, swears it helped his insomnia.

    Magnesium and muscle growth

It comes down to proportions and using a base. Bases are creamy tasting fruits such as a pear, apple, or banana. Then you add the fruit, which if you want low GI is typically frozen berries. Only then do you add the spinach. For 1 c of fruit, add 2 handsful of spinach. You won't taste it if you have the base fruits and the berries. We also flavored ours with cinnamon and cardamom plus soy milk. My very picky child used to drink them with no complaints. Put it in an opaque cup so you're not freaking about drinking green sludge.

    anybody own a vitamix substitute?

My son has a magic bullet. It can't do the greens. But the nutribullet I know has great reviews on amazon for being able to liquefy seeds, greens etc.

    Have I messed up?

Just because others did it and were fine doesn't mean it's not somewhat risky. Pls take care of yourself by letting your doctor know, and he can decide how best to keep you safe during surgery.

How to make "noodles" out of Zucchini and Cucumber

The cucumber ones do not need to be cooked at all. Fresh and crunchy! The zucchini ones, you can sauté in a little oil until they are it soggy and get a bit crisp and crunchy. I love spaghetti squash myself but I love these more. They don't have much of a taste and so you can actually taste the sauce made. Spaghetti sauce would work well.
  16. So my husband created a video showing how this can be done. Have a look and it's our first video so if you want to leave us feedback on youtube, that will really help.
