Me too, I used to read books in the "old days". Love the forum. So much to learn.

The high protein low carb ones are the ones I make up and post. And the pressure cooker and crockpot ones are sleeve friendly too.

    Books/Cookbooks

There's a thread here somewhere on books to read. I can't search well on my iPad or I'd list it for you. As for cookbooks, I only bought one special cookbook which was "eating well after surgery". It was good but not great. Other than that, I use any old cookbook and only cook the Protein and veggie recipes from there. I post quite a few EASY recipes I make up on my blog at www.sleevers.wordpress.com. Also my Pinterest user name is Statgamer and I have many, many recipes posted there that are sleeve friendly. There's also a thread on Pinterest user ids that also have good sleeve friendly recipes.
  5. Yes! My husband and I split a 100 calorie bag once or twice a week. Just finished one as a matter of fact

    October 100 Mile Challange!

I will likely to be zero today. Hurting from flare up since last night. I think it's time for my shot. But go everyone else! run run! be active! have fun!
  7. Love this! Congratulations. as to wrinkle creams, not that I'm patient enough to use anything but clinically speaking, the only things that work are retinols, salicylic acid, hyalanuric acid and some EFAs. So you could spend a lot and feel pampered (nothing wrong with that!) , or you could buy Neutrogena's salicylic acid preps and use them religiously and just be patient.
  8. Wow. I don't know about perfect but the man did lose almost 200 lbs. Give him some credit for knowing what he's talking about. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Shaving woes!

so painful though!! Had it once, thought I would die. Or really wished I would die but wasn't dying fast enough.
  10. Me too! Lunch is baked tilapia with lime seasoning from Costco, and a plate of cucumbers, jicama and lychees with Tajin fruit seasoning from mexico along with a movie with my husband and son. Life is good. See Laura?? don't even need to know how to cook, just how to shop
  11. Ah that's a different matter. I don't think any reasonable person would tell you not to enjoy an occasional treat like cake on your birthday or that you can't have a low carb wrap every once in a while. Fact is we have abstainers and we have moderators. Moderators can eat a variety of things in moderation and not suffer. They don't like being deprived because it makes them obsess about that forbidden food. Moderators are better off having a bite and moving on. Abstainers are people who are carb/sugar addicts who find it easier to avoid carbs because it makes them crave more. Abstainers get hungrier and hungrier the more they eat of a particular type of food, typically carbs. Abstainers are better off just not touching the trigger food at all. We didn't all get fat the same way and we don't all get thin the same way. But I do think that cake on your birthday is very different from cake any time you want to--as long as it's only a few bites. Because as it turn out, pretty soon your sleeve holds many more bites and then where are you?
  12. People make different choices on this, but I'd like to challenge the belief that Protein and vegetables are bland, boring, disgusting, and deprivation rations. chicken, fish, lobster, crab, shrimp, lamb, pork, steak, ground beef, steaks, roasts, zucchini, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, eggplant, green Beans, okra, spinach, kale, beets, salsas, spices, herbs...what's bland and boring about those?? I think if we started to think of how LUCKY we are to be able to eat such richness and still lose weight, maybe we wouldn't feel deprived?

random musings from a really bored woman...lol

Totally love the languages of love. It taught me a lot about myself and to better appreciate how others' showed their love for me. Which style is yours? To express and to receive?
  14. Bahahahahaha! Y'all make drinking sound like a lot of fun....not!

    5 Confessions (Join In)

    1. I confess I worry I will never lose the weight. Ever. 2. I confess the reason I don't want to tell people about the surgery is because, what if I fail? then I'll be the fat girl that couldn't even lose it with surgery! 3. I confess that although I know I'm a sugar addict, sometimes I lie to myself and say maybe it will be different now that I'm sleeved. 4. I confess that even though the 36 lbs I've lost have made a huge difference to the way I look and feel, I wouldn't be happy if I never lost another pound, even though I know I should be. 5. I confess that even though I'm not a jealous person, sometimes I want to b/tch slap those who are complaining about "only" losing 10 lbs a month since I would kill to lose that much. 6. I confess that we still eat gummy Vitamins although we can do pills just fine, because they're kinda like a treat every night

    family support

I think your husband didn't make the decision to get sleeved you did. So expecting him to change is not fair, IMHO. however, I wouldn't see his eating as not supportive. Not supportive would be if he were trying io make YOU eat, tempting you, offering you things you love etc. That would be not supportive. Maybe it would help to see the ways in which he is supporting you? (E.g., agreeing to use family finances toward the surgery, protein shakes etc., agreeing it do more of your chores when you are recovering, being with you through the surgery, and other things like that?)

    October 100 Mile Challange!

Rest up! Hope you're doing well.
  22. So many of us did Unjurys chicken soup flavored protein powder. It's like bouillon but not. You mix it in 140degree water and voila! Broth with protein. It met my salty requirements during pre-op. Prodiet also makes a creamy chicken soup that's not chicken, but chicken flavored. That might work for you as well.
