So many of us got this surgery because we were parents who wanted to do right by our kids. As you lose the weight, is it changing things for your kids? What do they think about it? At our house: -no more junk food anywhere in the house -my son has to eat Protein first (he would have lived on just bread if you let him) -we went to the state fair where I was able to walk all over and was less tired than him -my kids are our biggest supporters and they're seeing us succeed. That makes me happy. Cute NSV. I've been slopping around in 2xl pjs. Loose, unsexy, old. My husband gently reminded me that I could now buy sexy lingerie if I wanted? (If I wanted, not he. Sneaky!) I bought some L sizes pjs. I feel they cling to me too much. I asked my 13-year old if they were too tight. Here's his answer: "Wow! (Waves hands in hourglass shape) They look just fine to me!" Hahahahaha!

How will you celebrate reaching your goal?
gamergirl replied to Sleevie J's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Does it say something about how driven I am when I tell you that my ONLY plans for when I each goal were to start to work on a maintenance plan?? That I had no thoughts of celebrating at all? Isn't that terrible? Your thread reminds me I should think of celebrating somehow. -
How will you celebrate reaching your goal?

Look at you Ms Skinny! You look great! -
I definitely had acanthosis. That's how I knew I was insulin resistant. Mine went away pre-surgery when I switched diets. The ring on my belly lightened considerably as well and the neck ring is all gone. Whether it's the weight loss or the change to a high-Protein diet, I am quite sure yours will lighten/disappear as well. From my experience btw, I do best on a 40% protein, 40% fat and 20% complex carbs diet. I think most of us who were insulin resistant before seem to do best physically and psychologically with being strict on the carbs.

gamergirl replied to Indigo1991's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Pictures please! I haven't worn a belt in a while either. I dream of being able to tuck my shirt into my pants and wear a belt one day soon. Good for you -
Congrats! Are you still doing the beautiful pics to document your journey? Will you be doing one for your surgiversary?

Prescribed diet suppressant? Anyone take during liquid pre-op diet?
gamergirl replied to Scorpion11's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I agree with Scottsgiel, that doesn't sound right. The whole point of WLS I'd we don't had to take pills and do weird diets anymore, we just eat a high-Protein diet from now until we die Definitely ask your surgeon. -

What a great thread! I love that the three of you can support each other and do this together. It gives me hope for when I will no doubt be posting something similar in the future. -

I've changed my food porn to be sleever-friendly foods. I make them, I take photos of them, I blog them, and I enjoy eating them. So I still enjoy food, just good-for-me food. I hope it stays that way for me.

You should PM fiddleman. He is an avid cross-fitter and although several months from being sleeved, he will be able to guide you better.
