10 days Post-Op & Feeling Down
gamergirl replied to the-Russ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I believe it is, esp if it follows your doctors orders. You might have good luck with meats that are a bit more moist like a little sauce with the meat, or ground beef etc. -
Okay hello! Back to helping the OP with bras?

gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys are breaking my heart, you know that? Maybe I'm stupid but I didn't think I'd get the permanent jiggles until closer to goal. Dang. Rude awakening. -

Omg no! If sexy bombshell over here is having jiggles, I'm pretty much screwed. -

advise needed from sleevers

Your doctor is telling you what is lost on average. There are many here that have lost 100% of their excess weight, so just know that is possible, if you want it. -
Skin firming cream pre & post op
gamergirl replied to lubelu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I've read, the ONLY thing that helps is a good moisturizer. Really just keeping it moisturized is half the battle. Other than that, alpha hydroxyl acids will help exfoliate. I have a body lotion with AHA that keeps my skin hydrated and not flaky for that reason (coconut fig from Booth). Anything with skin communicating agents like niacinamide will help. That means most lotions from Dove or Olay will help you. Check the ingredient list to ensure it has it. Anything with caffeine will do a good job of temporarily reducing the APPEARANCE of cellulite for a few hours. Most anything else is probably a waste of money Yes I'm in marketing but when it comes to beauty products, I firmly believe in learning about ingredients, not brands. -
No no, we're talking about other OPs who start threads that take a problematic turn.

GNC has an AMAZING pumpkin spice total lean Protein shake right now! Soooo yummy. I had Syntrax Peanut Butter cookie shake with a half tbsp of peanut butter in it last night. Tastes just like nutter butter Cookies. Syntrax vanilla bean torte tastes like melted ice cream. Syntrax mint chocolate cookie tastes like a mint ice cream That's how I get my jollies these days.

Oh girl, I always want cake. I'm too afraid to have any because then I'll just want MORE cake. I always always want cake. On my death bed I'm sure I will be craving cake. Sigh.

For acne there's are to really only two things that I would reccommend based on the research. Either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Everything else is window dressing. Salicylic acid works better for me benzoyl peroxide (eg proactive) works better for others. Sal acid cleans out the pore and will exfoliate your dry flaky skin, Benz deals with any infection you've got. I'd find creams with at least 2% sal. Acid or 10% Benz and very little else's and try those. Google Paula Begoun. She rates products for their ability to perform based on ingredients, not brand names. Her acne section is also very, very educational. Good luck!

Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!

To add my 2 cents, worth about one today,as someone struggling to do the right thing, as a newly sleeved person, and someone who doesn't believe in crazy extremes unless you are truly addicted, this thread was like watching a train wreck. I wanted to quit reading it, I was horrified, but I couldn't turn my eyes away. I had to force myself to walk away because it was so upsetting to hear people being told physically dangerous things were okay. I don't think it's entirely accurate that the only people who would stray from just reading this thread are the ones who would stray anyway. We're looking to learn. If other people are doing it, we often wonder if it is truly okay to do it. It's not "permission" as in absolve me of my sins, it's permission as in, it's well within allowable guidelines. There's a 5 confessions thread here that hasn't derailed. People have posted very personal and heart-felt fears. I don't think the forum dissuades people from posting for help or people who are kicking themselves for having made a small mistake. This thread though was congratulatory. It was glorifying cheating. It was saying you can do scary **** because I did and I didn't die. It was often saying I ignored my doctors orders and I survived. It celebrated cheating. Sorry, not everyone may not see it that way, but I did. I'm with PDXman. An addict walks in to get help, and people are high fiving about blacking out the night before. We're addicts. We will slip up. But I want to surround myself with people who don't Celebrate slipping up, but rather accept weakness and falliability as part of the journey. Big difference. -

When do the mood swings go away?
gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been religiously taking multi-vitamins and Vitamin D, plus Calcium and Omega-3. The last blood test, all was good. Maybe I'll take a b-12 and see if it helps. Thanks for the advice! -
When do the mood swings go away?
gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't changed anything. Same old same old diet. Had to see the doc for a well-woman check up. She had the RNY 6 years ago and lost an entire person. She thinks maybe estrogen could be low. I said I thought we released estrogen as we lost weight so I should have a lot of it? she said thinner people need MORE estrogen. As I lose weight, I might need more than my body is producing. Super confusing for sure. I'm going to give myself a day or two to snap out of it. -

I don't know gmanbat, hiding in the woods seems like a really good idea today. and of course my husband is all chipper and chatty today so the woods are seeming REALLY good :-p I decided to take a mental health day and take the day off. I mean, I didn't get much done yesterday either but I felt guilty about it all day because I was supposed to be working. Today, I have decided I'm not supposed to be working. Time to watch trashy TV serials maybe. -
How will you celebrate reaching your goal?
gamergirl replied to Sleevie J's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So I've been thinking of this thread and I think when I reach goal, I'll try hard to believe that I can maintain it. Because I don't think I'm going to trust that I will be able to keep it off. I think it may take me a few years to believe I actually made it. And that's the truth. -
Hey I started with 40 miles last month. It's 40 more than I did the momh before! It all counts. No need for any of us to apologize.

If you're just starting out,I would set a very modest goal for yourself. If you can afford it get a fitbit or a simple pedometer. I found those very very motivating. I started wearing a pedometer years ago and discovered how little I was walking. It was horrifying! I knew we were supposed to walk 10,000 steps but I wasn't even getting in 1,000. So I set my goal to 500, then 1000, etc and worked my way up to 10,000 which is 4 miles. I literally would go out to my car in the parking lot for nothing--because that added 250 steps to my pedometer It becomes a fun game and you're only competing against yourself so there's no outside pressure. Oh and going to the bathroom at work? 125 steps But if I had set the goal at 4 miles initially I would have failed. If you're already running around all day, why not get some credit for it, right? No one says exercise has to be at a gym. Log your steps, log the house cleaning into MFP, log the cooking into it. Once you see what you're already doing, then increasing that is easy. Good luck!
