Calling all AUTOIMMUNE sleevers
gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Redbean I think the groups kind of got lost in the transition. Let me see if I can find it again. -
Am I the only one still laughing about a "privet" email?

Idiots. So sorry but hey! You still earned it!

Just so you know, that's TWICE what I lose in a month. It's all good.

Daily Protein, Sugar, Fat Goals/limits
gamergirl replied to outwithbenjiboi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what I do too, 700 calorie max, 40 protein, 40 fat, and 20 carbs. And I don't eat back any exercise calories as a rule unless I'm just really starving, the. I might have a few. -
Apparently We All Kvetch The Same Way
gamergirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Still learning my way around the new app I guess it hasn't fully sunk in that we see every type of surgery's posts. I've accidentally opened threads from other forums and I see the same dang arguments going on in those forums as ours! The same rants and fights and kvetching. I just wasted tons of time reading a thread accusing every one on the board about being snobbish, and the vets thinking they have the answers, newbies who learn to make their own choices even if other day they are not workable in the long run, and I was like, WHO is she talking about?? Wrong forum. Lap band folks. Sigh. And I thought we were special -
That's all I lose--5-7 lbs a month. I don't know how much you have to lose but I don't think it's that weird. I had 80 to lose to hit goal. I spend half my time stalled and in between I lose a few pounds. And I've had only one day in 3 months where I had maybe 4 bites of carbs I'm trying to avoid. Rest of the time, Protein and veggies. Doing everything by the book. I think many os us have this experience but don't post. Saying "I lost 13 lbs in 2 months!" Sounds like no big deal on these forums and so we don't post. But girl! We lost 13 lbs in 2 months! Let's take it and be happy!

Oh no worries! Frankly with all the functionality they had to port over I think it's gone VERY well. They should be proud. -

gamergirl replied to Ms.AntiBand's topic in Rants & Raves
Omg that sounds so yummy! I'll prob skip the walnuts coz I don't do well mixing smooth and crunchy but I have lots of sugar free preserves. Hmm marmalade! -
In the most delicious of ironies, I tried to respond and say I was having the same problem but...you guessed it. Permission denied! So I had to log back out and log back in just to say I have trouble posting and if I want to post I have to log back out and log back in. Sigh.

DFW TX Surgeon selection? (Dallas / Ft. Worth)
gamergirl replied to Better than dead's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Well mine was in Mexico so I had a few more variables in play such as were they in a hospital with an ICU, etc. I assume that's not relevant in the US. But nonetheless, I did make a list of criteria that mattered to me. For example, number of surgeries a day mattered to me. A very-well reputed surgeon in Dallas reportedly does 14-16 a day. My doctor did 3 a day. That mattered to me. Another surgeon here does a leak test when you're awake, mine did it under anesthesia. Mine had a reputation of working hard to reduce gas in your stomach. His patients said he was very available for complications. Others in Dallas didn't have that reputation. Mine does a lot of post-op education. For us, piece was only one of the factors. We saved a little by going to Mexico but not THAT much. I chose the doc I felt best about, and he happened to be in Mexico. My point is, there comes a point where a base-level competence is covered. After that, the smaller things start to matter. Make a list of the big or small things, and then maybe check them off? And yes, after a while, let go of the logic and let your gut guide you. -

And then it took me 15 minutes to find my own dang thread. Apparently just coz you start it doesn't mean you're subscribed to it Poor Alex and team. I don't envy them this task. It's gone quite well, considering the scale of things. -

I hiked in a cave today. For an hour. And then I swam in it. And then I walked 2 miles wearing a wetsuit and the heaviest life jacket ever. And then I walked another mile. YESSSS!!! This was not any old flat cave. This was a very uneven cave floor in a very dark cave, with some of it under Water and the rest above and I hiked through it for an hour. I haven't shared this before but two years ago, I ended up in a wheelchair due to a very incompetent doctor. I was in it and bed-ridden for three months and it took me 3 months to learn how to walk again, by which time I had significant damage to the cartilage in my knees. For all of last year, I wasn't able to do stairs at all, and was reduced to using handicapped elevators if there were a ton of stairs. I couldn't sit on the floor comfortably and couldn't fold my legs in half and it took me months before I could climb in and out of a bath tub. But today, I did all that. I hiked up and down some very rough terrain, I fell, I scraped my knee, I used a big stick to balance myself. I stepped sideways, forward, back, up, and down big ledges. I had to fold myself in half as I walked, and I had to fold my knees in half. And I enjoyed every freaking minute of it. I was probably the least well-balanced person of our group. As I said, I had to learn how to walk again, and I don't think I'm as well-balanced as I used to be. I can no longer stand on one foot for any length of time. My husband made me take a walking stick and took me to keep me company (because on my own I'm too damn macho to admit I need help). I was so worried about today. I was sure I would peter out before everyone. I was worried I wasn't a strong enough swimmer. i was concerned I"d hold everyone up. Well, everyone else there was much younger than us, but I'm happy to see we did not bring up the rear. Yes I struggled, but I finished it. I love my sleeve, and I love the October Challenge on this forum that got me to the point I could do this today. And btw, my husband is freaking stud muffin. The very-fit instructor dropped his flashlight under water. He tried to dive for it, couldn't get it. The younger guys are standing around half-heartedly offering to go get it. My 60-year old man says, here, I'll do it. Off comes his helmet and his life jacket, he dives down and gets it with no fuss. I almost jumped his bones right there I also now know beyond a shadow of a doubt what I want in my life. If it's a choice between being skinny and lying by the pool looking gorgeous vs. hiking in a dark, dusty cave, I'm choosing hiking. VERY LONG post! Thank you for reading. I'm just very excited about all of it

Saw this today and loved it. You? 15 things Jesus Didn’t Say: “For God was so disgusted with the world and you that he gave his one and only Son.” “I have come to bring you a new religion.” “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have correct theology.” “If anyone would come after me, let him disparage all other religions and their followers.” “If you love me, you will regularly attend a church of your choice… within reason.” “Blessed are the tithers for they shall be called the children of God.” “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in Heaven after the earth goes up in flames and destroyed.” “You have heard it said, ‘Love your neighbor,’ which means the people with whom you attend church and relate to in your Christian sub-culture.” “In my Father’s house there are a limited number of rooms. But no worries, there is plenty of room in Hell.” “The kingdom of God has come!… Well, not exactly. I mean, not completely. Let’s face it, the really-real kingdom comes after we die. Hang in there. It won’t be long.” “And you will know the truth and the truth will make you superior to all the other simpletons who never learned Greek or Hebrew.” “You are the light of the world… well… in a sinful-filthy-scum kind of way.” “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you a checklist of things to do and not do in order to remain in God’s favor.” “For God so loved the world… you know like theoretically… as in, God loves the big ‘W’-world. But when it come to you specifically, that are quite a few things that would need to change for God to actually and specifically love… or even like… YOU.” “He appeared to his disciples over a period of 40 days and spoke about how to incorporate his life and teaching as a 501©3, and go into all the earth to build mega-churches in his name.” http://jimpalmerblog.com/2012/12/14/15-things-jesus-didnt-say/

Sorry to bump my own thread, but I do want to know: how difficult is it to learn how to paddle board standing up? What skills/muscles does one need to build?
-
All the HTML coding shoes up on your post, at least on my iPad. You may have to ditch the special font for a while.

I actually love change. Thrive on it. I was excited to see the new forum. But for someone who doesn't like change, I can see how if might not be so cool. ((Hugs))

Mine look like that too. Although I don't have the cute "x marks the spot" one that you have. How far out are you? -
