  1. 54% sophiepants! More than half way there.
  2. You my dear, have lost a whopping 72% of your EWL. You realize that by bariatric standards you have exceeded what the average patient achieves right? Congratulations!

    Pants on Fire!

I think whether or not you choose to tell everyone is a different issue from what you choose to tell everyone. Many of us do not choose to tell everyone. But we also refuse to say it was because of cancer or diet pills or some magic potion. Many people who ask us are genuinely seeking help for themselves. To mislead them as to how we got there is a little disingenuous. I guess I distinguish between lying by omission (Not telling the world you had surgery but explaining the behavioral changes you've had to make, all of which is the truth but not the WHOLE truth) vs. lying by commission (telling them it was cancer, none of which is true).

    Easy Pressure Cooker Chili

Another pressure cooker user! I have several pressure cooker recipes on the blog for a lazy beef curry, a chicken curry, an ethiopian curry, etc. I love just throwing everything in there and cooking it with no browning etc. and they all work great. Here's a link: http://sleevers.wordpress.com/?s=pressure&submit=Search I hope you enjoy!

    Low BMI Sleevers?

The best way for "low" BMI folks to judge ourselves is by percent of excess weight lost. So I started at 5'6, 230 lbs and want to lose 80lbs. BMI was 37 maybe? Well in 3 months I've lost 50% of my excess weight. But that translates to "only" 40 lbs including pre-op. As you know there are people here who lose 40 lbs in one month. But if they do, that's not half of all the weight they need to lose. So do we lose "slower" than those with a high BMI? I don't know that we necessarily do. We lose fewer pounds per month but that's only because we have less to lose. And the closer you are to goal weight, the slower the weight comes off too, so be prepared for that. But to answer your original question, I heard the opposite. Those with less to lose are much more likely to hit a realistic goal than those with hundreds of pounds to lose.

    Ideas for liquid stage..?

I have high protein full liquid recipes in my blog at www.sleevers.wordpress.com. Search fir full liquids there.
  10. That's a good point. I need to ask about that.
  11. I agree...but three cans a week? When you're trying to reduce calories that's a good place to cut right?
  12. Fred my recommendations is to get your calories from real food. Forgive me for being blunt but you're doing what people who gain weight after VSG do--drinking your calories and getting some from chips etc. You need chicken, beef, pork eggs cheese etc so you can feel the restriction that the VSG gives you. At four months out, you should be down to maybe 1 Protein shake. My shakes have 150 calories, not more. Nuts are nutritious but highly caloric. I'd suggest 1 homemade Protein Shake, and 4-5 meals of real food. 1/2 c meat, 1/4 c veggies, 1/4 c complex carbs at most at each meal. That combo will fill you up and get your calories in balance. If you're still hungry with all that, make vegetable Soup and drink that. HTH
  13. Those who lose that much have a lot to lose. Why don't you calculate how much of your excess weight have you lost? Tell us calories and Protein you're eating, how tall, starting weight, today's weight and goal weight and maybe we can help you.

    6 Months Post Op

If you share some of what you eat, drink and your exercise routine, as well as you current height and weight, I'm sure people will respond.
  23. My PA who had RNY 6 years ago, said that her skin today looks much better than it did even 3 years ago. So there's hope. And in the meantime, I created this to remind myself to be happy.
