    Easy Pressure Cooker Chili

I bought that book for my son who cooks almost exclusively in his pressure cooker. Not bad for a kid in grad school! So much healthier. I think I might get it for myself too. I barely see the point of a crockpot anymore I must say. There's only one recipe, the chicken curry, that actually does turn out better in the crockpot than the pressure cooker. Other than that, I put food in the crockpot--and then think, I could finish that in 15 mins under pressure rather than cook for 8 hours!
  2. Yes it does! I'd translate to lbs just because that sounds more than kgs anyway 25 lbs for you!
  3. That's 48% Barbarah! Almost half way there. Congratulations!
  4. Everyone likes different ones but after much experimentation, favorites at our house are Chike coffee. Tastes like a latte esp with some instant coffee powder in it Syntrax mint chocolate chip cookie. Tastes like a milkshake Syntrax vanilla bean torte. Tastes like melted vanilla ice cream Syntrax Peanut Butter cookie with 1/2 tbsp of real peanut butter. Tastes like nutter butter Cookies. I hate that metallic whey taste, and these hide it well.

    Full liquids!

Take 2 lactaid pills with your shakes just to be on the safe side. Also my blog had a lot of very flavorful, savory, high protein soups with real veggies and meat that are easy to make. Search for full liquids and you will find tortilla soup, shrimp bisque, etc there.
  6. It's too early to get depressed! Tell us what you're eating. Calories, Protein, Water, carbs. Tell us how much you lost before the surgery on your pre-op. Do you have pcos, thyroid, or other things that could slow you down? Are you menopausal? Are you having a period right now? There are SO many things that matter for women, it's too early to be depressed. Just so you know, I lost 21 lbs the first month including pre-op---and then only 7 lbs the next month. See the chart I posted in the original post. You're doing fine.
  7. What do you want to be at goal weight?
  8. 49%! So almost half-way there. Good for you.
  9. Well Laura you've also set your goal a lot lower than some others who reached goal but had a higher goal weight so that's part of it too, right? But even if you hadn't, you should still say good girl. The difference between 84% and 100% is meaningful personally for you, but from a health perspective and a "hot mama" perspective I'm guessing its negligible. So congrats!!
  10. Okay here's a paleo version of Shepherd's pie made with mashed cauliflower. Pictures & nutritional facts at: http://sleevers.wordpress.com/2013/11/09/paleo-low-carb-shepherds-pie/ My older son has always loved shepherd’s pie. When he was little, he’d sit on the kitchen counter and watch me make it for him. So one day, when he was about 3, I asked him how Mummy made shepherd’s pie. He thought for a bit, and then said “First you catch a shepherd and then you kill him!” Boys. Such ghouls. So I decided to try a paleo, low-carb version, which meant substituting mashed cauliflower for the potatoes. Technically this is a cottage pie, since I used ground beef. Makes 2 meals for 2 sleevers. Ingredients For the Topping: 8 oz bag of cauliflower florets, either fresh or frozen 1 tsp coconut oil/ghee salt and pepper to taste For the Pie: 1/2 lb ground beef 1/8 c chopped onion 3 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed 1 tsp coconut oil/ghee 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce 4 oz tomato sauce (can substitute 1 tbsp tomato paste) Salt & Pepper to taste 1 egg beaten Paprika Method Steam cauliflower in it’s bag for 5 mins in the microwave When done, put into bowl of food processor. Include all the water it generated as well. Add coconut oil, salt, and pepper and process until smooth and light. Meanwhile, heat the coconut oil in a pan until hot. Add onions and garlic. Prepare to inhale wonderful aromas and for your spouse, kid, and dog to walk in wondering what smells so good. Brown ground beef. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, & tomato sauce. Remove from heat and let it cool for 10 minutes. Beat the egg and mix into the meat mixture Spread in a pie plate or an 8-inch square pan that has been lightly sprayed. Spread meat in an even mixture. With a light hand, spread the pureed cauliflower. Rake gently with a tine to create peaks and valleys so it looks pretty when browned. Sprinkle with paprika Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes.
  11. I know you asked for 1+ year out! but would It help you to know that even at only 3 months out, I feel like I can eat normally? I have chosen not to eat sliders and junk food, but I can eat meat, fruit and veggies just fine. My point is, normalcy may come faster than you think. Hang in there.
  12. Thank you! I've been wanting to post on this for a while. Took me a bit to figure out how to lay it out without coming across as quite the nerd that I am
  13. So while statistics vary on this, I think most surgeons consider losing 50% of your excess weight between 6 months-1 year after surgery to be a sign of success. Yes you read that right. So let's give ourselves a pat I the back all of us over-achieves!
  14. How hard is that to believe? If someone had told you that you'd be halfway to goal in less than 5 months, would you even half believed them before the surgery? I know I would have laughed at anyone who told me that.
  15. wow Suzy you're almost half way there! 47% to be exact. Didn't you just recently get sleeved? during the massive thunderstorm/flooding thing? Way to go!

I'm Eating. At 1 Am This Morning. Wth?!

What's really weird is that I woke up to a half pound loss this morning. Who loses weight when they're on their period?? I think all the old rules have stopped working. I used to routinely gain 4 lbs of weight during this time. Not that I'm complaining mind you!
  17. you are 69% of the way to your goal of 150! Even if you re-set the goal to 130, you're 58% of the way to that goal as well. More than half way in one case, and almost three-fourths of the way in another case.

    cycles, wtf is happening?

I think it's time to call the doctor and ask. I know I've read some posts of people who had stopped having periods who started again after the surgery but spotting sounds a bit different.
  19. I have a lot more on my blog. I love trying new recipes and making up ones that are sleeve friendly. www.sleevers.wordpress.com
  20. Pictures and nutritional facts at: food, especially when the desire to eat pumpkin pie is strong within you. It’s not my usual, start-from-scratch recipe. There are a lot of cans and packages being opened, but by golly, it sure tastes good. Makes 10 servings. Ingredients 1 can pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie mix) 1 container sugar-free cool whip 2 packages of sugar-free cheesecake pudding mix (1 oz each) 1.5 c of skim milk 2 scoops Syntrax Vanilla Bean torte Protein powder (or other vanilla protein that you like) 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice Method Combine all ingredients and whip together with a hand-held mixer, or in the bowl of your Kitchenaid mixer until smooth and creamy. Let it chill for a few hours and enjoy.
  21. they lie about stuff like that. They told people there was no math in marketing, and guess what I do for a living?
  22. it's right. 86% of the way there.
