  1. I have a thread here (or used to!) that said "I've lost a two year old" .. You should see if you can find it (I'm on an iPad so can't find easily). It lists weight equivalents and it's quite shocking to see how much weight we were carrying. I was doing planks the other day and realized in the old days, it would have been like putting a huge big bag of dog food on my back while trying to exercise! I think at 30 lbs, you've lost as much as a 2 year old weighs. Wow.
  2. So I am a "slow loser" per this board's standards although I'm beyond delighted with my progress. But if give you an idea, I lost 20 lbs the first month (including pre-op) and 6 lbs in month 1. Trust me, that shows. So you will probably lose the "few pounds" you hope to Put a new outfit on your birthday list.

  4. Oh girl, my butt has gotten so much smaller I keep checking to ensure I still have one! I realize it looks better smaller but I don't want to lose all of it. I was raised in India until I was about 20 years old. We like our women with a little meat on them. Way too many people in that country thin from actual starvation, you know? My idea of what's attractive was formed by that upbringing. I suspect I will set my goal higher than some others because I do not want to lose my curves. As I say, still want the hourglass, just a little less sand in it
  5. You know I used to hate meat before the sleeve too. Much happier as a vegetarian. It's part of why I create recipes that I post on the blog. What I'm finding is that if I spice the meat well so it doesn't taste like meat, I do better I have also learned that the longer I keep eating it, my taste buds are re-setting and now when I'm hungry, that's what I crave.

Help Me Through This Break Up

Oh OD I'm so sorry to hear that. It's tough. I know for me the only things that got me through breakup were to keep my brain occupied. I would read difficult books or watch movies or do things that didn't allow my brain to wander and let me dwell on my sadness. It's a huge effort. I'd start reading and before I knew it, I'd be back to thinking about the other person. And is have to bring myself back on task. That constant distraction and active thought suppression--refusing to allow yourself to dwell on it, changing the subject, as it were, when the negative thoughts come in, is how I coped. I've taught the same things to my older son and it's worked for him as well. Those two things plus knowing that this wasn't your only chance for a successful relationship, were the only things they helped me. It still sucks though. ((Hugs))

    Anyone Following A Paleo/primal Diet?

. The liquid phase is mainly about protein and. Hydration so I wouldn't worry about it quite yet. Also I found I needed more carbs as I was healing. I would get so dog tired that I'd be listless and sleepy. Amazing how much a little bean soup or a half of a sweet potato would lift me up. Now, I don't seem to need it nearly as much.

    Anyone Following A Paleo/primal Diet?

Really? I didn't know that. What are your guidelines? Now you have me curious.
  10. You know what that means?? That means you made it through your pre-op without killing anyone. Yes? No deaths, right? Just checking.

    Anyone Following A Paleo/primal Diet?

Honestly guys, if you follow your dietary rules, you will be eating fairly Paleo, with the exception of dairy. Anyone worth their salt would tell you many overweight people have insulin resistance, and the way go avoid/eliminate that is through a low carb diet. I can't remember if I said this earlier, but I get 40%Protein, 40% fat and 20% carbs in my diet (calorie wise) and manage to hit the guidelines of at least 60 gms of protein and less than 50 gms of carbs that my surgeon gave us. So what else is left? Fat, right? So the rest if the calories go to fat and it ends up being a fat and protein rich diet that works well for many of us. When I create recipes to post on the blog, most of them end up getting tagged Paleo, gluten-free, high protein, and low carb. That is what you are MEANT to eat after surgery.

    Gossip About The New Neighbors

I there any way to block people when you're on an iPad? There's so little going on in the forum that the same nasty threads keep coming up and I really would love to block a few so I can enjoy the rest.
  18. Im 3 months out and I stay under 700 probably hit around 600 on average. I don't feel like I'm starving. I eat mainly Protein with a little veg and by the time I get the protein numbers right, I'm too full to eat anything else. There are days I'm hungrier and I will go over, and other days I'm not as hungry. But I also don't eat carbs much and no sliders. 2-3 oz of chicken goes thunk pretty hard I split my calories into 40% protein, 40% fat, and 20% carb. I do that to keep my insulin and therefore hunger response in check. I assume as my sleeve heals I will be able to eat more and the calories will go up a bit then.
  19. Well to lose 10% of your weight, you'd have to lose about 24 lbs. but when you reach your goal? You're going to be about half the woman you are now, so to speak. You will have lost 46% of your starting weight. How incredible is that? Nothing you own now will come close to fitting you then. You know that, right? Clotjes, underwear, belts, nighties, many of your shoes, none of it will fit. It will twe times too big. Get ready to shop like a mad woman
  20. 15 things Jesus Didn’t Say: “For God was so disgusted with the world and you that he gave his one and only Son.” “I have come to bring you a new religion.” “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have correct theology.” “If anyone would come after me, let him disparage all other religions and their followers.” “If you love me, you will regularly attend a church of your choice… within reason.” “Blessed are the tithers for they shall be called the children of God.” “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in Heaven after the earth goes up in flames and destroyed.” “You have heard it said, ‘Love your neighbor,’ which means the people with whom you attend church and relate to in your Christian sub-culture.” “In my Father’s house there are a limited number of rooms. But no worries, there is plenty of room in Hell.” “The kingdom of God has come!… Well, not exactly. I mean, not completely. Let’s face it, the really-real kingdom comes after we die. Hang in there. It won’t be long.” “And you will know the truth and the truth will make you superior to all the other simpletons who never learned Greek or Hebrew.” “You are the light of the world… well… in a sinful-filthy-scum kind of way.” “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you a checklist of things to do and not do in order to remain in God’s favor.” “For God so loved the world… you know like theoretically… as in, God loves the big ‘W’-world. But when it come to you specifically, that are quite a few things that would need to change for God to actually and specifically love… or even like… YOU.” “He appeared to his disciples over a period of 40 days and spoke about how to incorporate his life and teaching as a 501©3, and go into all the earth to build mega-churches in his name.” http://jimpalmerblog.com/2012/12/14/15-things-jesus-didnt-say/
  21. I couldn't sleep because I was hungry. Wth? I ate tons of protein today, I drank my water, I don't eat sliders. I ate 800 calories today before my midnight snack. Normally I get in around 600 calories. After 800 calories I'm still hungry. And yes I took my usual PPI this morning. Finally gave in, dragged myself out if bed, nom-ed a handful of cashews and am feeling the restriction. I'm frustrated about this. Is it possible TOM makes a person this hungry?

I'm Eating. At 1 Am This Morning. Wth?!

Aaand if wasn't until after I wrote this that I realized that normal, non geeky people might not use the term sinusoidal wave frequently so ....oops. Smooth, repeating curve. Sorry. I'll try to keep it no -nerdy next time
  23. Really? That's good to know. I might look it up and see what if has in it. I haven't keloided, so it's more a matter of bleaching item. Good idea! Thank you

I'm Eating. At 1 Am This Morning. Wth?!

My hunger varies by day and I've asked other naturally thin people and they agree, this is quite normal. When I look at my calories on MFP I see not a flat line, but rather a sinusoidal curve. So I wouldn't worry about the odd days up because they seem to be followed by fewer calorie days. Very. Ew for me. Previously if I was on a diet,I was starving! And you can bet I ate very damn calorie I was allowed. Now, if seems more a function of true hunger rather than anything else. Wonderful NSV in some ways
