On Display Like Some Kind Of Freak!
gamergirl replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sending you a hug. The longer I live the more I see that people can sometimes just be insensitive jerks. I wish I had something comforting to offer. All I can send you is a virtual hug and a lot of love. -
Butter clearly you failed to specify what you meant when you said "hit that"

Omg! Omg! I just fit into a size 14 dress!
gamergirl posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My husband can't stop shopping online for me. I have no idea why but clothes keep appearing at the house. So he bought me two tiny looking size 14 dresses. I wanted to let him see how they were still waaaay too small for me. I love dresses but they didn't look good with the excess weight so I was very nervous. But they fit! And even though I say it myself, dang I look good in them! I have to admit, I didn't recognize myself in them. I didn't realize I am "small" enough to fit into them. I used to read about others who said they didn't realize they were in a smaller size and it made no sense to me. Today I understood that. I'm exactly three months out today (sx aug 2nd), 39 lbs down and in another pound I'll be half-way to goal. I've gone from an 18w or 20 to a misses 14. For those of you who stress about stalls(I.e., me too)? Just know that in 3 months I've had 3 stalls that lasted 12 days, 12 days, and 15 days respectively. So out of 90 days, I spent 39 days stalled. And still got these results overall. So grateful for the sleeve today. I have a thankful heart. Thanks for listening to me dance about with happiness -

Don't encourage him! He's replaced cooking with shopping I think. I'm patiently waiting for the addiction to die. In the meantime, mysterious packages of things we don't need keep arriving at the house. -
How Long Should I Wait To Fly Home After The Sleeve?
gamergirl replied to brennalynn84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my surgeon this and he said his patients routinely fly home 2 days after surgery. Die to the increased risk of clotting after surgery, he said if it's over 2 hours, you should get up and walk around, but that it's perfectly safe. -
MTD: 21.75. I'm going so slow! How am I going to make 60 miles this month? Ugh

You'll get there I'm sure. My husband is now able to tuck his shirt in first thing in the morning--and it stays that way all day. He can't stop marveling at that. -

Olive/darker skinned men/women and scarring from surgery
gamergirl posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Wondering about olive/darker skinned women who've had cosmetic surgery to better understand scarring. I'm eastern Indian and have an olive complexion. I wear like a medium beige in foundations for example. My husband who is white and I were sleeved the same day 3 months ago. His scars have almost disappeared, but mine are sort of burgundy/brown and clearly visible. Although I am months from having cosmetic surgery (years?) every time I bring it up, my husband worries about the scarring given the extra melanin I carry. I'm wondering if there are East Indian, Latina, Greek, etc men and women who've had cosmetic surgery and can help me understand what to expect? Even if it's just the scars from your VSG, and you're further out, that would be super helpful to know what to expect. Thanks! -

if anyone figures out how to export data from MFP, will you let me know? We want to create a timeseries model using macronutrients as the input variables and weight loss as the criterion. But I haven't figured out how to export the data yet. I'm very interested in your results! Please do share after you have a trend showing up. -
My husband gave me a really good perspective on this. I am a problem solver, that's my personality and that's my occupation (and I suspect yours?) He says, why can't you look at this just like that? You wanted to control your weight, you tried a hundred different things, and you finally troubleshot your way to success. You finally found something that works. Take out the emotion, the stigma, the feeling of having failed on our own, take out all of that. Aren't we to be counted as successful because we finally solved the problem that has plagued us for most of our lives? Doesn't that make us a success? We are lucky there are tools to help with our addiction. If there was something similar for alcoholics, I suspect there would be a long line at the hospitals.

You know I've thought about that, the problem is that I want to create an app that I can embed in here or on my blog and that requires PHP. My PHP programmer (aka my son) is busy with grad school but I will harass him when he comes home for thanksgiving. He's going to have to work for his Brazilian Churrascaria fix this holiday! -
Hello. My Name Is Revs And I'm A Carboholic And Hungry!
gamergirl replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is me to a Tee and I suspect many of us. I'm at three months out. I eat 3 meals and 2 planned Snacks and hit 600-700 calories a day with no extra hunger. I get hungry for my meals, I eat a few ounce, I'm done. I eat Protein and veggies. No sliders, no fruit, no sugar, no junk. In the last 3 months, I had ONE day while on holiday where I ate half a fried corn gorditas, about the size of a golf ball, and 2, count them Two small bites of cake. We were at a cooking class in Mexico and we'd made those so I tasted them. Three days of hunger followed. I kid you not. I had to work hard to fight my hunger those days. Rest of the time,I don't think about food until it's time to eat. Those three days? I had the munchies. I hate the thought that I am not normal in this regard. That I must give up carbs. I don't like it. My mind fights it. And I don't know what the long term plan will be. I only know that I can't eat them during my weight loss phase. I realized I could have resisted tasting them and made that decision ONCE, and saved myself three days of making the decision to resist everything else the carbs made me crave. Some of us cannot do carbs. The sooner we accept that, the easier life gets-unfair though that life may seem.
