You May Be More Successful Than You Think....
gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are 33% or a those of the way there! How long ago were you sleeved? -
I'm following this discussion closely because I too will need help down the road. The last time I was thinner, I used to wear Apple Bottom jeans for two reasons. One, the fabric is thick and has stretch and holding power so it "drapes" well and the dark wash looks fairly dressy. Two, they fit curvy women really well. My waist is typically at least 10 inches smaller than my hips and regular jeans bag at the waist (which means I have to wear camisoles tucked into my panties so that I don't look like a plumber when I bend over) or are too baggy in the legs if they fit my waist. They are quite "blingy" on the back pockets but boy they used to fit well. I haven't heard much about them lately though so need new ideas for down the road. So glad you started this thread CWJ!

Me, Chocolate And 10 Fireman

Me too! I was like, at last! A good slutty thread! RJ glad the house and you guys are okay. -
RJ, I think I just fell in love with you. Your kindness and compassion is dead on. To the OP, I go through bouts of sadness, not anger so much but what I have to do is make it very clear to my husband that NOTHING is wrong, that I love my life and adore him---but I am just sad and that I will get over it. Even though my husband and I got sleeved at the same time, he doesn't seem to have the emotional roller coaster I do. Perhaps it hits women harder? I don't know. What I do know, is that I have to consciously make more deposits in the kindness and joy bucket when I am feeling good to compensate for the times when I am down. Maybe what will help is if you overtly express your love, gratitude and kindness to him at the times when you are NOT angry so that when you are, he still knows you love him and want to be with him? Counseling will help I believe, esp to deal with the fact that you can't eat some stuff and he can't. I would also seriously consider anti-depressants for a short while until your hormones stabilize. Depression often manifests as anger in some people. Ask your doctor what s/he thinks about it. Hang in there. I'm 3 months out and while the sadness still hits unexpectedly from time to time, it's less often than before.

Please Let The Hair Loss Stop!
gamergirl replied to need2bthin!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think higher fats can only help our skin and hair but I do take essential fatty acids in the form of fish oil and evening primrose oil and it's still happening. I tell you what. There is no scientific evidence for Biotin, shampoos, etc to work. We can take them superstitiously but no evidence. Eating adequate Protein keeps you from losing MORE hair than we would but we're still going to lose the hair we would because if the anesthesia. The only things that seem to work are time, rogaine which will stop working when you stop using it, and artificial help like Toppix, extensions, and wigs. So I'm saving my money for the expensive extensions to thicken it when I can't stand it anymore. In the meantime, I guess I need to stop being lazy and use product like root boosters to add volume. Oh and to add insult to injury? It's all coming out the top and front where I can see it rather than the back which is thick as ever where I could have lied to myself and pretended that if I couldn't see it, then it wasn't happening. -

I'm so glad to hear it. There are few situations where math doesn't make things better, but success is not one of them. I'm going to do another one as soon as my son comes home, to help us arrive at appropriate goal weights based on body fat, so we can ditch the BMI charts. I need him to create a calculator for us. We'll probably have that this weekend, if I nag him enough. -

Me too. I thought I was prepared and I guess I was but it doesn't stop you from wishing this wasn't happening. It's really thin. I asked about extensions to thicken them but they said there wasn't enough loss for that. I don't know what to do. -

it's funny how you see the 18 lbs you still have to go, and I see the 71 lbs your ticker tells me you've lost But yeah, I understand the siren song of the sliders. Your c25k plan sounds like a good one. There's a wonderful thread in the fitness forum where folks are doing it together. -

I have set my goal weight to be 150 (which may actually be too low I don't yet know) and it's hard for me to believe that I am so close to it. You and I were sleeved close together (August 2nd for me) so we're both doing well! You pat me on the back, and I'll pat you on the back, okay? -

But what's truly amazing about you is that you're barely a few weeks out and you're already at almost half of your excess weight lost because you worked it before the sleeve too. And now you're a walking machine! That's very impressive progress hun. -

My Dr. Says If I Gain 1 More Pound I Will Be Given An Extra Month Visit But....
gamergirl replied to KeeWee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That guy of yours who eats constantly? I'm surrounded by people like that. Skinny people who ate all their food and then ate half of mine--and also weighed half as much as me. It was the reason for almost all the rage and anger I had about my weight. It isn't fair. Yes, that old chestnut. It isn't fair how some people can eat so much and not gain weight while if i simply thought of cake, it made it's way straight to my hips. I had to get over that before I was willing to consider surgery.
