I'm Having A Minor Melt-Down
gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked our housekeeper if maybe other people had that many clothes. She looked at me with love, smiled, and said "I think you're special" What's weird is I hate clothes shopping. No idea how I gathered that many. I kept trying to blame my husband for having bought those for me, but he says he's never even seen some of those. (I know it's my fault, but it's fun to tease him). -

I wanted to donate to dress for success. But it's been near impossible to get an appt with them. Maybe I'll try again. I think it's a very worthwhile cause. Mine are likely going to the store run by the orphanage in town. -

I think it's a very good idea. I wanted to do that too but then my husband said oh we'll make more with a tax write off. Then tonight he talked to our CFO and it's so danged cumbersome I'm not sure we will be able to really claim all of it. So now I want to consign or just sell it. Not sure what we will do. Whatever if is, I have to do it tomorrow! The boys will be home and there are clothes all over one's bed and all over the game room. If you can consign, for sure, do it. -

my husband has been buying me new suits from www.shopgoodwill.org It's his new cross addiction But really he's gotten me some very nice suits with tags on them for $20--and these were $400 suits. It's all auctions but he keeps up with it. From a 24 to a 12?? That's incredible! When do we get to see pics? -

Nsv: Eating At A Food Court Post Surgery
gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband is much nicer than I am I guess, because he feels compelled to explain that the food was good but we just can't eat that much. I am happy to just say "Yes it was great!" and leave them guessing. So we go into this every time we go out for dinner. I think it will be easier when we're skinnier. Because now when we say "We can't eat very much" I know they probably look at my fat butt and go....."Riiiiight. Whatever lies get you through the night lady...". Maybe when we're smaller, they'll believe us. -

Nsv: Eating At A Food Court Post Surgery

We were talking about that the other day. I always thought it was only the weekends, didn't realize it was Friday. That's actually better. The place is a mad house on weekends typically! -
What's Your Food Philosophy: Abstain Forever Or Eat In Moderation?
gamergirl replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not only does everyone in my family love chex mix, but it's a holiday tradition for us. I want to make it for my kids, but I'm not sure how my husband and I will do around it. There were days in the past when that's all I ate for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the holidays. And I have a feeling those suckers will be total sliders. Still trying to figure out whether or not I should make it for the boys. sigh. -
I have had so much trouble giving clothes away. Not only am I afraid I will need them again, but there are memories associated with several of those clothes. Memories of buying them, wearing them. meeting friends in them. I guess I'm slow because it didn't dawn on me that NOTHING I own today will fit me anymore. Nothing, no shirts, pants, suits, undies, nighties, hose, bras, nothing--including many of my shoes. I have eight huge black garbage bags full of clothes plus my husband's two bags that are sitting in my son's bedroom. He comes home this weekend. And I still have a full closet so obviously I haven't gotten rid of everything I should. That's what happens when you have entire wardrobes in 5 different sizes. We are committed to getting the bags out of the house today/tomorrow since he returns for the holiday on Saturday. There will be some heartbreak when they leave the house. Early on, I didn't believe I was going to lose the weight. Now I look at summer clothing and know I will not fit into it next year so it's being easier to put it in the go away pile. Get rid of it. Bite the bullet, and get rid of it. It's part of the mental work we need to do.

Please Let The Hair Loss Stop!
gamergirl replied to need2bthin!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've also started to use this type of hairbrush. I have no idea why it works, but it glides through wet hair like nothing else, with no pulling and tugging and I lose less with it. http://www.amazon.com/The-Wet-Brush-Happy-Daisy/dp/B009S9BDJQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385042930&sr=8-1&keywords=tangle+wet+hair+brush+daisy -
We were exhausted as well for at least 3-4 weeks. My doctor asked us to increase carbs a bit for energy. It didn't take a lot. Half a sweet potato, 1/4 c of black beans. It was like getting a shot in the arm! So helpful. Also be sure to take sublingual b-12 a lot during the early days and sleep every chance you get.

Pictures and nutritional facts at pizza for days. We used to get pizza once a week and although we got the “healthy” kind (thin crust, veggies, with half the cheese), it still wasn’t that good for us. I’ve been thinking about how to recreate this and although I’ve seen lots of cauliflower crust, meat crust, ground chicken crust etc. recipes, they seemed a bit contrived. So I tried this with Flatout bread and it actually worked out very well. The nice thing about individual serving pizzas is that I was able to make one with just pepperoni and cheese for my son at the same time. Makes 2 sleever servings, 1 serving for a non-op Ingredients 1 piece of Italian herb flatout bread (I got it at Tom Thumb but wal-mart carries it too) 2 tbsp ready-made pizza sauce (you need so little it’s hardly worth making your own I think) 10 slices pepperoni 1/8 c diced onions 1/8 c diced tomatoes 1/8 c diced mushrooms 1/2 c shredded mozzarella cheese You can substitute other toppings of course, but the nutritional info on the site is for the ingredients listed above Method Heat oven to 350 degrees Place flatout bread directly onto the rack. Do not put on a cookie sheet Cook for 5 minutes. It will be fairly crisp by this point. Remove from oven, spread sauce and cheese, and spread toppings Carefully put it back into the oven, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese has melted and the toppings appear wilted Cut into pieces and serve. I was only able to eat 1/2 of one.

Craving Pizza? Low Carb Flatout Pizza
gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What you're saying sounds a lot like what I've read about fake sugars. That our brains can't tell the difference between real and fake sugar, and when we eats fake stuff like Splenda, etc, our brains think it's real sugar and release insulin anyway. Do a lot of banders have trouble with bread? Even toasted bread? I know I can't eat potatoes at all, so we all have our kryptonite I guess. -
