  3. Keep reading about people who miss eating, who miss/crave certain foods, who wish they could eat more. I know that's true for some people and they are the ones who post. But I do believe that a lot of people are where I am. I really LIKE that I can't eat too much food. Yes sometimes I wish I could have a bite of something unhealthy, but the desire passes in less than 3 seconds. I really LIKE that I can go out to restaurants and focus on friendship, camaraderie and conversation and not worry about the food. I really like not constantly having to think about food. That I only think of it when I'm hungry rather than all the time. I really, really like that I no longer spend my waking hours wondering what diet, super food, eating plan I should try next to lose my weight. I really enjoy the feeling that I am in control, rather than feeling the food controls me. I don't think I'm in the minority. I think this is like complications. People who had tough recoveries post, people whose recoveries were simple don't post. But for the pre-ops, I think it may be important to see that not everyone is struggling with missing food. Are you like me? Will you post your experience here so others can see?
  4. I can relate to this. To make my work life easy, I wear black pants every day. Yes, I know, boring but simple. Black pants and either a sleeved blouse, or a tank top and suit jacket depending on how formal I need to be that day. So now after the Big Cleanup of 2013, I have only one pair of black pants left. I need new black pants. I have been dithering about where to get them from for the last 4 hours. I have no idea where to start.
  5. If I had ever penny I ever spent on diets, new clothes, more expensive clothes, different foods, throwing out the foods that my new-new diet didn't let me eat that my previous diet said I should, etc.----it would fund some very nice holidays for my family.
  6. Pretty soon I'm going to have the reverse problem I guess, at least based on reading posts of those who are further along. Then, I will join them in freaking out about all the choices we get and how it's impossible to pick what we want.

  9. So we decided to walk in a mall tonight. We head to the food court to get dinner and I have to go to the bathroom. My husband is going to wait for me. I come back in four minutes and he says, "I'm really sorry, but I ate without you" and shows me four toothpicks of free food they gave him as he strolled by the various stalls there. Yup, four pieces of chicken and the man is too full for dinner. I know people thought we were crazy when we both burst out laughing. We went to get me some chicken from a thai place there and it took a while for them to understand we didn't want rice or noodles just chicken. Then we made them put half the chicken back because we would never have finished it. And then we didn't even want a drink! We were no fun, I tell you and dinner was $4.24. For both of us. You can relate, can't you? hasn't life changed?

    Best Hot Cocoa Protein Drink

I tried cocoa making it with powdered milk and cocoa to increase the protein content. Dees. Gusting. The dried milk smelled like baby spit up.
  11. That's such a great idea! Thank you. That would work for me. I could measure out what I was saving for us and give away the rest. That would limit the damage but still allow us to enjoy a bit.

Has Anyone Had Their "colours" Done?

You're asking about seasons or capsule wardrobes? I assume seasons? Omg it's so much fun. So basically, depending you hair, skin and eye color, you can be one of the four seasons. WInter, Summer, Spring or Autumn. I have dark hair, dark eyes, olive skin. I am a winter. I look good in jeweled colors and can wear both black and white without being washed out. I look great in purple, burgundy, mauve etc. My older son has hazel eyes, gold-brown hair, and a medium complexion. He is an autumn and can wear cream, rust, brown, deep green--autumn like colors. To put him in white is to wash him out, he needs cream colors. So it really helps to know what "season" you are so you wear colors that 1) complement your coloring and 2) all kind of go together. Color me beautiful was the original but it's been picked up by everybody and their cat since then. try the link on the site above and see if you can find out your season. And then, google your season and look at the images. So I did "deep winter color palette" and saw all this: https://www.google.com/search?q=deep+winter+color+palette&espv=210&es_sm=119&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=zaSPUpWANcmfkQe4t4HIDg&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1149&bih=562 Once you have that, you can search outfits on pinterest that fit that palette too. Oh you're going to be addicted soon!

Try this site, it does more than just the four seasons, it tells you deep and light as well, which is helpful http://www.prettyyourworld.com/

Has Anyone Had Their "colours" Done?

YES and YES it is totally worth it. Unless it is very easy to tell what season you are, it's very worth it. But for me, the most helpful thing was buying the clothing swatches. I don't understand clear purple vs. jeweled purple but if I can see a swatch of what jeweled purple looks like, it's totally worth it. If you want to PM me a picture of yourself, I can try to guess what Season you are There are also some online tools that can help you but you have to have a basic understanding first and it's not always easy to know whether your skin has a blue tint or a yellow tint etc. On my pinterest board, I have some outfits in Deep Winter colors which is what I am. REALLY helpful to see them for me. And if you intend to do a "capsule wardrobe" which I do, then it's really critical to know what neutrals to pick. This may be waaaay more information than you wanted but it changed my shopping habits ENTIRELY once I knew what colors to buy.

doesn't suck does it? Congrats on 59 lbs! that's fantastic.
  16. Okay I have a confession. Really, more like a realization. My clothing purchasing behavior was out of control. Not only did I have the clothes that I posted pics of, apparently I had at least another bed-full to try on and give away. And I still have clothes in my closet that fit from before. No exaggeration, I have spent 2.5 hours having to try everything that was still left in my closet. Even with my husband putting all the clothes back on the hanger and someone else folding all the clothes to give away, it took us 2.5 hours. That's just for the ones I hadn't already taken out and photographed. They're still folding them. I was overheated so had to sit down for a minute. And I am hoping they don't realize that we haven't yet been through the my clothes hanging in my son's closet. At the risk of sounding stupid, I knew I had a lot of clothes, but I had no idea how bad things were. My family kept trying to tell me I had a lot of clothes but I was like, whatever. Had NO idea how bad the problem was. My husband is now fantasizing about what he will do with his share of our walk-in closet. He's standing in there, visualizing his shirts hanging up properly, and where he'll put his pants. It's pretty bad that he made do with one rack while I had about 5 of the six racks. Poor man. I told him he needs to claim half the closet back not only because it's fair, but it will keep natural controls on my buying too many clothes. When my side is full, I have to stop. I didn't realize all the things I'd have to face when I had surgery. I thought it was just about eating less. You could have told me this until you were blue in the face, and I would not have known that when one addiction/maladaptive behavior stops, you realize how many OTHER maladaptive behaviors you took on, just to keep that one going. Kind of like telling one lie and then the others you tell to hide that lie...That's what this is like. Honestly I'm a bit shaken. How could it have gotten this bad without my knowing? is this happening to you? Are you finding out other things you did to compensate for the weight that you're now trying to change?
  17. We used to have Chinese a lot before the surgery. I've stayed away from it since, because I don't do well with greasy meat. Upsets my stomach. I think it's time to make it at home and start enjoying it again. It's amazing to me how much food most Chinese restaurants give you in those combo plates, isn't it?
  18. The only things I have left to wear daily are 2 pairs of lee riders from walmart which I love because I can wear 12's (even though I am a 14) and several $7.94 t-shirts, also from walmart, in a variety of colors. So basically my entire outfit cost less than $30. And it looks better on me than outfits that cost a lot more than that when I weighed more.
  19. Well 130 lbs is definitely something g to be proud of! Congrats

The only family I have here is what I married, gave birth to, and adopted. And the four of us absolutely adore each other. Our idea of a good time is to hang out on our computers and play minecraft off the same server, watch movies, stay in our PJs all day, cook and feed the kids, and for T'giving, we out to a Brazilian restaurant. It's a family tradition. So of course this year, I'm wondering if it's worth paying $40 a piece so that Roger and I can have half a sausage each . No more big huge plates of meat for him and no flan for me. But I can't WAIT for this Saturday because we'll all be home together and a week of utter sloth will commence.
  21. that's awesome! Roger was able to share a couple of his coats with a fellow sleever too and it was fun to see him try them on and have them fit so well.
  22. besides, by the time they get to you, you will likely no longer fit them. This month, my weight loss picked up a bit. Months 2 and 3 i lost 6 lbs but suddenly this month I lost 10 lbs. I'm sure there's a stall a-coming, but all of a sudden, I'm outgrowing things quicker.
  23. That was my defense too! That it was YEARS of clothes. I'm not sure anyone is buying that, but it's true.
  24. What all did you have done with your plastics? How cool that you're at goal and done with PS too!
  25. we almost didn't. I've been wanting it for a while but he kept thinking we could do it on our own. He had all these comorbidities but he's at least as stubborn as I am. Finally I told him that he didn't have to do it, but I was going to do it, and I wanted his support and I would need his help. I told him that I was tired of being fat, and I wanted to live whatever life I had left as a thin person. And then he decided, so did he! what a coinky dink! But yes it's been a marvelous journey together. I love that we each know what the other is going through. And seeing the changes in each other, encouraging each other, it's been great.
