Oh I be been wanting to read that. I just wondered if it was a total tear jerker. If your daughter liked Veronica Roth, she might enjoy the Wool series. Again sci fi and very well done. Another book my son loved was The art of racing in the rain. So did my husband and I. Especially if she likes dogs.
-
Interestingly what I appreciate about that series is the physicality of the actors. I know you were kidding but the whole time I watched that movie, I ogled her body to see what a fit size 8 looks like
-
Well apparently MY husband is the one married to a twelve year old girl
-
My son says I should watch it because of course, joss Wheedon but I haven't yet. Do you like it?
-
No unfortunately just Serenity. I never watch movies twice but I've watched all episode once with my son and once with my husband. We are fans

So What Exactly Is "normal Eating?"
gamergirl replied to NMJG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For those who are at goal or veterans and posting, one thing that might help the rest of us, is for you to share how often you have treats and what a typical treat quantity might look like. I think it's easy for people to see that and not realize how frequently/infrequently you might have them, or what the size of a normal treat is. Case in point the person who has 10-12 tortilla chips with salsa, not half a bag. -
What is firefly? Only the best tv series ever that Fox fucked up. It's about these space travelers who are very much human and travel through various planets making deliveries, running errands and getting paid. The character development is nice, there's a mystery running through the episodes, and of course, a punitive republic against whom they must protest. It is witty, clever and IMHO, Joss Wheedon's best work to date. I think Amazon has it for you to stream? it was followed by a movie, Serenity, also very good. Allegiant et al are another set of teenagers in a dystopian world where people are sorted into five groups, Abnegation, erudite, dauntless, amity, and candor based on their personalities, and are trained that way. Or are they? despite the inevitable comparison to hunger games, we thought the books stood well in their own stead. Laura, your kids might like them, and since the last one was just released they could read all three in a row.

Omg! You both look fantastic! Congratulations.

Pictures and nutritional info at: Protein, and easy. What more can you ask for? Ingredients 1/2 lb pork cut up for stewing (I’m trying to make smaller quantities, you could use a lb and double everything else below) 2 small chopped roma tomatoes 1 chopped jalapeno pepper OR Substitute 1 can of Rotel tomatoes for the fresh tomatoes and jalapeno) 1/2 c frozen pearl onions OR 1/4 c chopped fresh onion 1 small sweet potato cut into four large pieces 1 can green chile, chopped 1/4 tsp ground cumin 1/2 tsp ground coriander 1/2 tsp chipotle pepper (ground) 1 tsp salt Method Place all ingredients into a crockpot and cook on high for 5 hours or on low for 8 hours. Alternatively, cook in pressure cooker for 10 minutes and let the steam release on it’s own for 15 minutes.

I thought catching fire was rather well done. We loved it. We read the books together so it was fun to see the movies together. The other set we're reading as a family are Veronica Roth's insurgent, divergent and allegiant and those will also be made into movies shortly. There are so few books/movies with strong female leads in realistic sci fi that when they come along, mew tend to devour them. (Firefly anyone?)

Congrats! You look both skinnier and younger. Good for you!

What? No la leche militants in your mothering classes? Telling you how you were a bad mother who didn't care about her kids if you bottle fed? Lucky you. I breast fed the first one but the second one was adopted and I didn't have enough notice to get my own breast milk going (2.5 weeks from starting search to having him in my house) so him I had to bottle feed. Poor baby had a lot of trouble with formula. But I digress. The militants are difficult for new moms who are already struggling with every decision. So not helpful. How about the why do you work when you can stay home competitions? Ugh. But honestly men are no different. The topics are different the attitude is the same.

So What Exactly Is "normal Eating?"

So I think this is a GREAT topic. I don't think the version of "normal" eating here is normal. Most of the thin people I know eat a lot of salads and meat and maybe some salty Snacks, but not a lot of desert, not chips daily, no junk food daily. They don't eat all the time. They barely think about food until it's meal time. A skinny friend of mine ate nothing but meat and veg daily and when I asked her about it, she said, oh no! I treat myself every weekend! You know what her treat was? half a muffin. That was her treat. Which by the way, she thoroughly enjoyed. I think eating normally is eating clean 6 days a week and maybe allowing yourself one cheat meal, not one cheat day from what I can tell. -

I'm Having A Minor Melt-Down
gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well, that's been part of my problem too. Didn't give away some of them from 10 years ago. This time, I promised myself it would be different. I would give them away and NOT need them. I've been reading some of the vets say that it helps them with accountability to have clothes that fit, and that are NOT stretch. that way, as soon as they put on a little weight, they know immediately that they need to fix it. That makes sense to me and I am trying to get to a place mentally where I can do that. Of course, as I type this I'm wearing size 12 stretch jeans. And the only reason I'm wearing them? is because really I'm a 14 in non-stretch ones but I like lying to myself and thinking I can fit it into a 12 -
Yup, for Roger to get to 21% BF, his goal weight for him, at 6 feet tall is 207, which puts him at 28 BMI as well. Ridiculous. I think he's secretly competing with our 23 year old who has 15%BF.

I was hoping some ADULT around here would get serious! j/k. Even though Laura and Butter need to be spanked for staple talk, I enjoy all the conversations. So actually I agree with you in principle....and also--based on numbers Given my lean body mass and my desire to be at 25% body fat, my "ideal" goal weight is 163. So it kinda doesn't even matter what my frame and height etc. I have this roll of fat on my stomach and my upper thighs and some on my back and when it's gone/smaller, I will be happier. BMI is not going to work for me, I've already accepted that. I will be at goal when some combination of the following happen: 1. 25% body fat 2. Size 10 or maybe size 8 for my stretch goal 3. I can maintain my weight while eating 1300-1400 calories of low carb, high protein and not have to struggle every day. Y'all please remind me of this 6 months from now when I'm complaining I'm not a size 0.
-
oh and i have a flare up and am having to wear special fingerless gloves for arthritis and so I can't type for shite.

Okay I'm now starving so I am going to change the topic away from food to a sad fact. two sad facts actually. Sad fact 1. I shank. A whole damn inch. Apparently I'm only 5'5 now so it will take even longer for me to be normal weight. Sad fact 2. My wrists shrank. So much for measuring your frame size by encircling your wrists no matter how much you weight blah blah. I am now closer to being a medium frame than I was before. So now it will take even longer for me to be normal weight. Ugh. Oh Sad Fact 3. I don't feel like worklng and I really need to! My kids are both home and I just want to hang out with them but the carpet is getting cleaned, all the furniture is moved around and really we're just going to have to leave the house in the cold and go somewhere and I need by breakfast shake and I have the whinies.

What I really miss is the one small biscotti I used to dip into my morning coffee. It was my excuse for "well I can't take my pills on an empty stomach". Seriously, the lies we tell ourselves just to get a little sugar into ourselves! That may be one of the few things I still crave. But we don't buy the biscotti anymore and although my husband threatens to make them from time to time, every time he brings it up, I distract him with a long list of honey dos....I wonder how long before he catches on?
