  1. I can relate Misty. Last time I was at this weight, I had been in bed for 3 months, trying to survive an illness. The time before that, I had worked out with a trainer 3 times a week, 12 months of eating very, very clean and being hungry a lot. This time, I got there from living a near-normal life, and feasting on shrimp, lobster, chicken, beef, and other yummies. I'm starting to believe that I will be normal weight one day now, which I haven't seen since in 20 years.
  2. Wow, 101 lbs! That's quite an achievement. You should be proud
  3. Your stomach does babe mucosa that prevent "burns" in the way your lip might burn otherwise stomach acid would make mince meat of it. Call your doc and ask for recommendations but I think you're right, you do need to take something especially early on when you can barely eat.

    One Week Ago Today!

    Glad you're doing well!
  5. I did ask my doctor about it because it seemed reversible. His answer was that while it was theoretically reversible, no one has ever reversed one and no one knew if your stomach would just rebound. His view was that it was less commonly performed than the sleeve. He does both. Additionally I am told weight loss is a but slower with that vs the sleeve as I don't think it cuts down the intake nearly as much.
  6. The first few days can just be pure sucky. Hang in there. I found if very helpful to turn on pandora radio on my phone to some mindless channel and put the phone on my pillow and listen to some quiet music. It usually lulls me to sleep and keeps me relatively entertained until sleep arrives.

I'm Dani And This Is My Story

Welcome Dani! I too wanted to cry when I saw my pre-op pics that I took in my undies. I was horrified. I'm still not ready to take pics again in my undies to view my progress, but I can now forsee a day where that might be possible. January is going to be the start of wonderful beginnings for you. Hang tight until then, and I hope you make some friends on here as many of us have done.

    November fitness challenge

    For all my fitness friends:
  9. Even before the sleeve, if I'd spent hours cooking, I rarely wanted any of it to eat. I do enjoy the cooking bit too
  10. Curious what you ended up putting in it finally? Hope you and the hubby have a great, love-filled holiday.
  11. I had a small piece of it and really enjoyed it, but didn't want more. And since I ate it at a restaurant and not at home, there was no opportunity for me to pig out on it. Worked out well.

    Now I Understand

That sounds different all right. Also I have to ask..I'm not judging or anything, but is it either ex-wife and girlfriend, or the wife's girlfriend, or some other combination? Just trying to get a feel for you and your family, no judgement

    Still In A Coma!

RJ I'm so sorry you have one more thing to deal with. You know we are here for you, but I do wish I were there to be of practical help to you. Do you think it would help you to tell these people how you felt about them not being there for your family when they were needed? I'm sure you discussed that in therapy but for me, saying out loud what's in my heart helps me let go of the burden some. There certainly are revelations about true friends when we are down. I had a friend insist on coming to take care of me when I was seriously ill and wanting to be alone. I was too weak to fight her. So she comes to stay---and then proceeds to get drunk and spend her entire evening on the phone with her boyfriend. Oh and she wanted to talk about going into business with me, if I ever got well enough to work again . People can be so thoughtless sometimes. Anyway I do hope you feel better and that this next chapter is easier resolved than what you went through. Also wondering if maybe you should consider celebrating a half anniversary instead if letting your 36th go by? (Congrats on that btw!) my older sons bday is very close to Christmas so when he was little,we used to Celebrate it in June instead.
  16. Do they! They may be big. I think I lost fat off my head too I also wonder if they are too dark now and I should get less "statement" glasses and more invisible ones?
  17. I'm hoping more people will post pictures when they get dressed up tomorrow

    Protein Powder Blues

My blog had recipes of full liquids with lots of protein in them. If you go to www.sleevers.wordpress.com, search for full liquids and you will find them. I was so sick of sweet shakes! It's the only way we got through post op.

Since I very much want you back on the site, I'll send it on
  22. Thank you! It's from the boutique at Tarjay When I bought it I didn't quite fit into it but I thought maybe one day I would. I love dresses but haven't worn any in so long! Really like being able to wear one without having to issue blinders to all!
  23. awww...you're so sweet R/J. Will you be posting pics of you and your family all dressed up?
  24. Well I will say dressing during the week when I'm not at a client site has gotten much easier. One of the two jeans that fit me, and any one of the colorful t-shirts I have. It's a no-brainer. Dressing for client sites is a bit fraught with danger because I have no idea what will fit from week to week, so it's no longer just packing for a trip. It's trying on clothes so I know what to pack and that's just a PITA.
  25. All righty then, time for us to compile our favorite posts about Stalls and Plateaus so we can help all who come here wondering why they are stalled, and for those of us who think we know it all, to maybe learn something new too. Would you contribute yours? Once we have a few, I'll compile it into one big list and who knows, maybe they'll pin it here? Only problem is, as soon as they pin it, conversation on this forum will probably drop to half of what it currently is (Yes that was cheeky, yes I should be ashamed of myself, no I am not.). Did I need to re-read these myself this morning? Yes, I did. Articles I found helpful: Even Gastric Bypass Patients hit weight-loss plateaus Weight Loss Stall or Plateau Weight Loss Stalls & Plateaus Carmelita's Denoument Dr. Simpson's 10 Commandments Of Whooshes & Squishy Fat A new look at weight loss plateaus A predictable cycle of weight loss Stalling at 10% of body weight loss What are some of your favorite posts or articles on Stalls?
