This conversation makes me a little nervous. I feel like I can eat a lot more than you gals. I can eat about 3-4 oz. of shredded chicken, ground beef, etc. with no issues at all. I'm not overly-stuffed afterwards, but comfortable. I think I have one of those "sleeves of steel" I read about on here. I have tried pretty much everything and haven't had any issues so far. The good news is my hunger hasn't really returned yet, so I just measure out my 3 oz. and eat them throughout the day as scheduled. I use FatSecret to track, but may switch over to MFP so I can follow you guys and see what your intake is like. I worry I'm getting in too many calories throughout the day (range from 700-1,000 depending on what I eat and how hard I work out). I'm down about 70 pounds since surgery on 8/15. I do fall off the wagon here and there (the last 4 days being a prime example). Luckily they are far and few between, but would like to try and cut out these "episodes" entirely. stop worrying. did you read the part where you said you've lost 70 lbs since surgery?? Stop worrying. Your sleeve is probably healing faster than some of ours. You're doing GREAT.
  4. My husband and I were sleeved together and we're following a high-protein, low carb diet. We're required to get at least 60 gms of Protein a day and I think that most RNY folks also need to keep protein counts high yes? I wanted to share my blog site which has lots of low-carb, high protein, largely paleo and largely gluten-free recipes. They're easy, many require very little skill or time to cook and I try to mix up the types of cuisine. I also have lots of pressure cooker and crock-pot recipes. If you are on full liquids I have some high protein Soups for those who are sick of sweet Protein shakes, as we were. I do NOT make money off this site, I just do it for fun and to help others with WLS who are not comfortable with cooking. I hope you'll visit or subscribe, and get some ideas to try out. If any of you would like to "guest blog" one of your favorite recipes, I'd love to include those. The site is www.sleevers.wordpress.com Enjoy!

    How Mobile Will I Be?

You know as I read others' very good advice, I think I should change my recommendation. Many have pointed out the difficulties of mass transit, and of needing to rest and recover and I think they are right. With my lunch, I could have just decided not to go. If you have a ticket to a show, that's a lot harder to do. I suggest you send your dad on his own and use the time to rest instead.

    Best Hot Cocoa Protein Drink

I'm a total chike addict! Our breakfast every single morning is a chike coffee shake.
  7. Yes the book is slow going for me, esp since my 13-year old and I are reading Allegiant and he is ahead if me, which he rubs in routinely I'm actually craving protein these days which I thought would never happen but agree, the quantities we were expected to eat at higher calorie levels were impossible, esp without shakes. I'm so glad I found shakes I love because I don't see them going away in the near future.

30-Day Plank Challenge: Who Is In For This One?

I can't sat that I did, except that I could plank longer. But I don't think a month is long enough to see huge changes. Besides my body is changing so fast right now, it's hard to know what's causing what, you know?
  9. It's normal to be concerned. But as you know, complication rates are very low with this surgery. How did your pre-op diet go?

    What Is Skinny Anyways?

Don't you wish someone had just told us in high school they we would likely never be that hot again? and to enjoy the heck out of it? In fairness my mother did try to tell me and I didn't believe her. Because, you know, I was in high school and thought I knew everything. Sigh.

    Advice For Insanity

I think J. diesel is doing it, he started last month. I would PM him. He also posted some of the (insane!) workouts in the November fitness thread. Btw, I loved your "mildly disturbed" comment

    Severe Back Pain!

My husband was sleeved with me and has lost 70 lbs or more. His hip has been hurting like mad. Same thing, center of gravity has shifted. So he went to a chiropractor and that helped some. He got better shoes and that has helped a lot. He went to a place called Run On where they fitted him for shoes based on his walk, and the hip is a bit better when he wears them. I'd do the doc first, and if they don't know what it is, then chiro may be next resort.

Me too! Even with 700 I'm barely averaging 1.5 lbs a week. If I ate any more, I think I'd stall forever.

Wow you and I said almost the same thing, makes me feel normal! Yeah most days I ned at least 2 shakes to hit my 60-70 gms of protein too and if I eat veggies, def not enough room for all the protein I need.

I say it all the time--with an almost-Indian accent I have even been known to say all y'all and fixing to. But I have never stooped to "over yonder". Yet.

Maybe it's just a sign you're healing faster than some others? We all know our eating capacity is going to go up once the swelling subsides. Maybe yours is subsiding. As long as you are not eating junk, and eating protein first etc, maybe that's okay?

I think the way for me to do it maybe to increase 100 calories a week until I hit 1000 if I have to do that. Going from 700-1000 overnight feels impossible, doesn't it?
