1. No I'm not employed by them. A few of us were asked if we would volunteer to help out on the forum by welcoming new members, answering threads/questions that no one had answered, just trying to welcome people and help where we could. I have gotten so much out of this site, I felt I should give back where I could so I agreed to help. Well they certainly picked the right person in you. I have enjoyed many of your posts. you're sweet to say that. I think I just talk too much

The Uncomfortable Truth....

Apparently I'm the one who needs to apologize and so please do accept my sincere apologies. No harm was intended. Peace out.
3. This was a great read Misty. Thanks so much.
4. I will try again. So I think all meat no veg is a disaster. I also think there are many people who are not carb sensitive and live a great life with them. The trick is in finding out which sort we each are and eating to suit our chemistry. I also wonder if Gary has to be more extreme in positioning his public personna? I mean, where's the story in don't eat processed, refined carbs?

The Uncomfortable Truth....

At the risk of beating a dead horse named "we are all different" let's not discount the very mundane but real stomach size differences. My husband grew up happy, had a very close relationship with his family all their lives. No issues, traumas, abuse etc to speak of. HUGE appetite. Huge. When the surgery was over, 2 separate surgeons came to talk to us and unprompted they both said my stomach was "very, very big" and that my husbands stomach was "really, really huge." Of course I asked if we had stretched our stomachs from over-eating. They both said they didn't think these were stretched stomachs, just much bigger than normal. Kinda like our shoe sizes. Our doc has done at least 5000 surgeries and yet this was different enough to call out. I don't know why my "very very big" stomach allowed me to stay thin for 30 years, but Roger has been overweight almost all his life except for brief periods where he won the battle. I want to believe that sometimes a spade is just a spade. That it can be that simple. Am I deluding myself?

Let's Talk Fashion

I've had to spend money on work clothes but my husband is buying me expensive brands from goodwill, withl tags. For my daily clothes? 2 pairs of jeans, $20 each from walmart (lee riders) several colorful tshirts from walmart ($8/piece). You're not cheap--or if you are, we all are. I think it's only sensible. I did buy bras and panties from macys but on sale so they were $15/piece for bras and 6 panties for like $20. As I've said before, I think I look a lot better in my $30 outfit than I ever did when heavy and wearing suits worth hundreds of dollars

Hahah! It's actually comical. We are both changing sizes so fast my husband and I don't know whose clothes are whose anymore. Older son and I share an inseam. Younger son and I share a waist size. Husband and older son share a waist size. So offen we look at laundry and go, whose is this? One pair of jeans, we had NO idea. So I tried them on. Fit on waist, too short. Obviously it was my younger son's Laundry at my house is fraught with mystery haha!
11. Interesting. I do think a no veg stand is highly detrimental to health. But I also agree that some people can indeed eat carbs with no ill effects. I wonder if Gary doesn't need to take an extremist stance just to prove his point? I mean, where are the bucks in saying just cut out sugar and processed carbs? cynical of me, eh? I think it'd like troubleshooting a machine. We each need to find what works for us and we are not all the same. So glad you shared this!

The Uncomfortable Truth....

I only share this in my desire to show that we don't all end up here due to the same reasons. I didn't have a bad upbringing. My dad is naturally thin. Although my mother fought her weight, she was never as fat as I got. I doubt she even weighed 180 lbs as I do now.. We were fed properly, cared for, and not encouraged to overeat, or have junk. All meals were home-cooked. Did my family have quirks? Oh boy did they! Is that what made me fat? No. No it didn't. I don't know why I ate all the wrong things. But whatever it was, was my doing, not theirs. That is not what made me get fat starting when I was 33 years old. I was thin growing up, I had a great body starting at 14 which I kept for years. My point is, totally different upbringing to some of the stories here, same end result. This is what I mean when I say, we didn't all get fat the same way.

Compulsive Overeating

I have always been hungrier in the evenings than first thing in the morning. Even when I was a skinny child if wake up at 10 pm and need a snack which my mom used to save in the fridge for me. My biological son has to have a midnight snack and he's naturally skinny

I try not to eat after 9 pm but I definitely "day end load" my calories. Often by 3 pm, I've only had around 300 calories, and all the rest come in the evening. I know they say eat early etc., but really there's ZERO scientific evidence to show that late eating is worse for you. It comes down to total calories and type of calories.
15. Well but so can my husband. From the beginning, he had been able to hold 4 oz and me 2 oz. now my capacity is slowly increasing, his hasn't increased as much. I think it has to do with size of original stomach', shape of it, and how fast your swelling goes down. Nothing to worry about. Seriously.

Fluff you might be surprised. I can almost zip up my 13 year old SON'S jeans and I am not designed like a boy Comgrats on the almost 14!
17. You know I asked around in a thread and found that many who were even a year out were still doing at least one shake a day. CLK had the best explanation. She said it allowed her to get some more variety in her diet, knowing the protein had been accounted for. We are 4 months out and still do 2 shakes a day. Until my stomach can hold more than 2-3 oz at a time, I don't see that changing.
18. Nancy, check out my blog at www.sleevers.wordpress.com. I have tons of recipes there. Also if you look around, there's an official Pinterest thread and many of us post recipes. My Pinterest ID is Statgamer and you can add me. Additionally, the meals specific to being sleeved and then recipe sharing sections have lots of great ideas. Hth
19. Why are you up so early? I had to fly at 6 fricking am. What's your excuse?

December Fitness Challenge

From what others posted, there seemed to be a lot of full body exercises though, no? Using your own body weight?
21. I think it was seela that said that. I don't have issues with fiber, and smooth move is senna which I take from time to time, but that one can "over correct" the problem somewhat. I still do take it once in a while.
22. I'd never heard of using gelatin for it! Double benefit for hair and nails too. Thank you. Worth trying for sure.
23. I have to be at the airport at 5 am. I'll send you good thoughts on my way
