30-Day Plank Challenge: Who Is In For This One?

52 seconds today. Crapped out early. I think I might need to try this with shoes. My feet keep slipping. Are y'all doing It with shoes? Or bare feet? -
I haven't gotten to explore any of it, so I'm just going to have to come back. The slivers of ocean I can see from my room sure are beautiful

Meal Planning For My Family.... Help!
gamergirl replied to Ree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have a crockpot? Here's a link that might be helpful. she shows you how to assemble a bunch of meals ahead of time, and freeze them. At night, defrost them in the fridge. In the morning, put it in the crockpot and voila! dinner! http://www.six-cents.com/2012/08/crockpot-freezer-cooking-5.html -
I tried juicing pre-op but it made my husband's and my blood sugar go up by 10 points in one month, so I had to stop. But I think there are people who do juice. Hopefully one of them will answer this thread. What did work for me initially was to make high Protein soups with a blend of chicken and veggies, or shrimp and veggies, and puree them. I have some of those on my blog and they can be found if you search for "full liquids". For whatever reason, I don't seem to make them that much anymore. Maybe that's a thought.

I haven't been able to find any juices that work for us with teh carbs/sugar balance. I've tried eating veg Soups but honestly, if I do that, I don't have enough room to get in my Protein. I'm worried about not getting enough veggies, but I don't really know what else to do. I take my Vitamins and try to eat a little veg frequently. I'm about 4 months out.

That looks very good. I didnt even know they made a pretzel coating. Live and learn. The pics look great. -
I know I was barely able to stay AWAKE during the first few days of pre-op. I literally took naps on days 1 through four. Working out would not have been possible for me.

That sounds scrumptious and healthy! Looking forward to the pics

how fantastic! Very glad for you. That's a significant achievement, even with the sleeve. Kudos to you!

My Lunch: A Pictorial Attempt To Show You Life Will Be Normal
gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was concerned about that as well and it has not turned out to be true. I think that's part of why I post about food, different recipes etc. so much. It's very possible to cook good, fresh, tasty, easy food that is sleeve friendly. People focus on what they CAN'T have. The fact is, if we focus on what we CAN have, it's quite nice to think we might be able to lose weight while eating beef, fish, chicken, pork, shrimp, lobster...not to mention lots of lovely, healthy vegetables. You may have to learn different recipes, you may have to learn how to cook, or order from restaurants, but so much is possible with what we're encouraged to eat. -
You know, I do track it. In my case I was insulin resistant, and have hypothyroid . For people with insulin resistance/carb addiction, and hypothyroid, the recommendation is 40% Protein, 40% fat, and 20% carbs. That equals to about 70 gms or protein and less than 50 of carbs. The few days I ate more carbs, I was hungrier so I seem to do better on these ratios. I don't think low carb is necessary for everyone, but if you were a carb addict or insulin resistant, it's not a bad ratio to follow.

that's fantastic! medium sounds like such a victory to me. Good for you!

My software is saying 29.7, so it's pretty carb heavy. You can shave off 10 by omitting the PB2 and ground flax though. I'm guessing most of that flax carb is fiber though right? It's the banana that's killing it, but without the banana, no one would want to drink it! Oh these dilemmas

Would this be the wrong time to mention I'm in key west where the high is 79 degrees? Uhm yeah!!!!! LOL. OMG - it's cold here. when I say cold, I mean 11 degrees. And so much snow to shovel in order to get my car out of the driveway! But I made it to the gym and did 2 miles on the treadmill. I lived in FL for 15 years, but never made it to Key West. We lived over in the Tampa area. Miss it this time of year! I may as well not be in Key West. I'm stuck indoors, didn't think to bring a swimsuit, and on conference calls from hell. So don't be too jealous

It's like that on IOS as well.
