  1. Tell your husband to spend some time on my blog at www.sleevers.wordpress.com and see the recipes I share. Ask him to look at any piece of meat or any vegetable, and tell him you will soon be eating those. It's very normal eating, some of us just choose to stay away from carbs, and all of us are expected to stay away from junk like real sugar, chips etc.
  2. I'm four months out so cleared to eat almost everything except I haven't dared too many raw veggies. Are you going to post your meals luminous?

    Some Befores And Afters.

Whoa! Feels good but looks great! WTG!
  4. What is this odd green concoction you ask? Only the BEST thing ever! We made a sugar free pistachio pudding with sugar free cool whip. Which would be just great right? What if I told you we added Protein powder in it? Muahahaha! Unflavored Protein Powder. Can't even taste it.

    4 Months Post Op Today

I too am 4 months post op and I eat 4-5 times a day which turns out to be every 3-4 hours. I don't know about you but I can't hold too much food at one time. I think it makes sense that if we only eat 200 calories at a time or less, then we will get hungry that much sooner. I aim for 60 gms of Protein as the mininum every day but most days it takes me 2 shakes to hit that amount.

    5 Month Surgiversary

wow Jessica! You keep shrinking and shrinking! Glad to see new pics of you. Congrats!
  8. See?? I said it was lack of carbs that were responsible for bad things! Except that my ass is smaller, which is a good thing. Sigh. Why does the world have to be filled with such difficult choices?
  9. What I find is that if I have an emergency, a deadline, etc. I rally to it and get it done. But the mundane, every day tasks that I used to just take care of, now I put off and off and off. It does help me to spend less time on the forum for SURE. Otherwise I find all my energy devoted here. But I do believe there is some nutritional voodoo going on. (I love to blame my lack of carbs for everything bad in my life ) Logically I should try increasing my carbs and seeing if it helps but I'm afraid they will make me hungry all the time, and I sure do love not being hungry all the time!

When Does The 2Nd Stall Hit?

I'm four months out and I have had four stalls of 11,12,15, and 14 days or something like that. So in 120 days, I've been stalled for about 60 or half that time. I don't know if I'm "special" or if this is normal, but it happens. The first one was soooo frustrating. The second one was worrying. The third and the fourth? meh. irritating but kinda like...whatever. I mean, what would I change anyway? I'm already eating all my Protein, drinking my Water, blah blah. So there's nothing I can do differently, you know?

    Is Tihs Normal ?

also search this site for 3 week stall. Happens to the majority of us.
  13. many people take 3 weeks off work and don't feel completely energetic enough to put in full days in 2 weeks.

    Protein Vs Fat

So if the carbs are low, sometimes the fat will be high because we've only got three things to play with: Protein, fat, and carbs. I have my P/F/C ratio set to 40/40/20. I keep carbs low but raise my fat gms to allow me to do that. Laughing cow wedges are a staple for many of us. I'd suggest unless it's dairy (eg. skim milk, or 2% cheese), don't do anything low fat because they take the fat out and put sugar and other unhealthy things to compensate for the lack of taste. You're better off choosing things that are naturally lower fat like forgoing sausage for lean beef, etc. if you are trying to save calories. HTH

    Oh The Holiday Treats....

This is my biggest fear too. It's all well and good to be on a restricted diet while you lose weight. But to eat like this the rest of my life with no breaks? It's a bigger mind shift than I think most of us are ready for. Hang tight and congratulate yourself on throwing stuff away. Smart move.
  16. 6 weeks for the most part. Don't go by how good you feel, go by what is safest. We're a bit numb from all the cutting and pain meds etc. I too felt great--until I overdid the house cleaning one day after which my stomach and mid-section hurt so bad! Don't do what I did, just take it easy for a little bit.
  17. GG, I'm just starting to get into EO and natural beauty products (I mean I'm obsessed with them now). What do you mix with your coconut oil? Love trying new things! I had some leftover cucumber green tea oil from a soap kit I bought for my son But the lady who got me on the whipped coconut oil kick here mixes hers with rose essential oil that she buys at Target which she said was supposed to help with wrinkles etc. You get the coconut oil to harden at room temperature, mix the oil, and then use your electric mixer to beat the heck out of it. It has to be at room temperature, not liquid to get the air incorporated into it. Then I put it in a mason jar and left it in the bathroom. Used it after a bath last night, and it just soaks into your skin. Not greasy like I thought. Only problem is the dog likes to lick it off me. Putting the essential oil in has helped with that a little! crazy dog.

My Doctor Wants Me To Eat More!

This is me too, except I am hungry at mealtimes. I don't feel like I'm starving myself, I would be over-stuffing myself to get more. There are certainly days when I'm hungrier than others and now, I can give myself permission to eat a little more those days. But the rest of the days, to exceed those calories will be over-eating to the point of being sick for me as well. I feel like in a couple of months, the restriction will ease up and I'll be wishing for the days when I couldn't eat that much!
  20. I get the EPO in capsules from amazon. RJ I have to try castor oil on my scars.
  21. My husband made up a wonderful lunch for us today. Pictures and nutritional info, at Water 1/2 lb shrimp, cleaned, deveined 1/2 cup Cotija queso seco cheese, crumbled (can substitute feta) 1/8 cup chopped cilantro Lime juice Black pepper Method Heat oil in a pan. Add the onions and jalapeños, cook for 5 minutes on medium high until the onions begin to brown. Add the garlic and cook a minute more. Add the tomatillos, reduce heat to medium and cook for 10 minutes, until the tomatillos are cooked through, but still hold their shape. Sprinkle salt over the tomatillos as they are cooking. Add 1/8 cup of water. Add the cheese and shrimp and cook until the shrimp cook through, about 10-15 minutes. Remove pan from the oven. Right before serving, mix in the cilantro and sprinkle with lime juice and freshly ground black pepper.

    Feeling Hunger?

You know, many of us do. I felt hunger starting day 3. The difference is that when I feel hungry is when my body genuinely needs nourishment, it's not head hunger, and once I eat a little bit, the hunger is gone. Very different from the old days where I had a very specific hunger (cake! not chicken), it seemed like I was hungry all the time, and needed a lot of food. Don't fret too much about it, as long as it is controllable, it's just a sign that ll is working well.
