    Best Hot Cocoa Protein Drink

For all who posted about hearing up premier chocolate, thanks so much. We drank them like mad pre-op and have lots still sitting around. The proti-diet hot chocolate is too sweet for me (NEVER thought if say that!) so I might try this instead.

    December Fitness Challenge

I'm finding life is really getting in the way of what I want to do with the fitness stuff. I can accomplish what I want to just fine when I'm home but I am struggling with keeping up while traveling every week and working 18+ hour days. I finally crunched today while brushing my teeth just to get it done. I'm getting about 6 hours sleep a night, and I'm coming close to 60 gms protein and most of the water which is taking a lot of juggling and consciously working on, but not enough walking, planking and crunching happening. Will post my total from the fitbit once I get home tonight or tommorrow.

    Sushi

Why can't you guys have sushi with no rice? Or sashimi? Or the nori wraps with no rice?
  6. I love that! I'm getting to where I'm starting to consider maybe not always wearing black my husband is buying me clothes in bright colors so slowly. You look fantastic in that red!
  7. Okay a little tough love coming your way. Last three weeks, I have worked mostly 18 hour days. Every week, I travelled to at least one city if not two by plane. I was in airports, offices, and hotels. Mostly I have slept less than 6hours a night. Yet I managed to eat healthy. So you too can do it Protein shakes, Greek yogurt, deli meat, cheeses, jerky, edamame, can all be eaten Witjiut sitting down to a meal. Set your alarm for 3 meals and 2 snacks and every time the alarm goes off, eat a little protein. Stop all junk if you've been eating any, and before you know it, you'll be back on the plan. Good luck!

    What Are You Reading?

i love Louise Penny! I'm reading Hild set in medieval times. The insistence on using olde englische is somewhat wearisome, but interesting nonetheless.

    Will I be sipping forever?

    You're back! Welcome back

    Will I be sipping forever?

Four months out and I can now drink 4-5 mouthfuls nonstop instead of having to take one sip, focus on carefully slowing before the next sip. It feels like chugging compared to the baby sips!
  13. Thank you for posting this. It's a sobering reminder that it followings pre- and post-op directions is not optional. Your relating your personal experience really brings this to life. I had surgery in Mexico. Two days later, they drive you back to Texas. The driver said there were so many times that 2 days after surgery, people would want to stop and get a burger or stop at the convenience store in the way back and buy chips and chocolate. Very scary.
  14. In contrast my very delicious and sleeve friendly dinner. Jumbo sea scallops and grilled asparagus with edamame before. I was able to eat 1.5 scallops and 2 spears of asparagus. So good!

My Doctor Wants Me To Eat More!

Well I discovered how to eat more. Two slices of cheese. I kid you not, 2 slices of Havarti, 220 freaking calories! Oy veh. I about had a heart attack. That's like a fourth of my daily calories. And this boys and girls, is why it's a good idea to enter your food in MFP Before you eat, not after.
  16. Drumroll! Cheers! Rah rah! Hooray!! And I'm cheering for the weight loss alone. Wow! Incredible transformation Scout. Very impressive. Oh and nice body lit too
  17. For those with less to lose, looking at percent of excess weight lost is vital. Otherwise it's easy to get discouraged. I started at 230 lbs. of the 120 days since surgery, I've been stalled for 60 days yet I've lost 51 lbs or 65% of my excess weight. I too worried I would lose nothing because I have been hopelessly unsuccessful with losing anything in the last 3 years. But this worked. It's a leap of faith for sure, but a justified one. Either you will lose weight or you will be a medical marvel and thus very rich
  18. Okay good example of what NOT to eat. I didn't have time to get breakfast at the airport. Flying upgraded today, and this is what Delta gives you for breakfast. That muffin top? Aptly named. 31 gms of carbs. Practically my whole day's carb allowance! I will eat the top of the unstirred yogurt and get 8 gms of protein, and potentially a little fruit.
  19. Their fries must have crack in them. There is NO other explanation for what they are so good. I used to get them when I flew out of La guardia but only if there was someone with whom to share both the fries and the kids burger. I do look forward to being able to do that once in a while as a treat. Right now, eating a burger patty doesn't appeal, and although I have a very accommodating sleeve, I suffer with potatoes so it's keeping me out of trouble. For now.
  20. May not look very appetizing but it was quite delicious and satisfying. Barely able to finish it all. Crockpot chicken curry with steamed zucchini. Yum!

    December Fitness Challenge

I'm really struggling to get back into this. I had almost a week where I really didn't have the time or opportunity to do much of anything. Then I had a day or two where I was sore and tired. Today however, I really need to get back it and I just can't seem to make myself do it. I haven't planked, crunched, nothing. Having to fight with myself. Hate that.

    Carbs And Cocaine

What a great article! I love the part where the rats choose sugar substitute over cocaine. That right there should tell us all we know. I wish I'd been more receptive to giving up carbs before I got sleeved. I can't help but wonder what it would have done for me.
  23. You look great! While I was never able to hide at my work Christmas parties and was expected to mingle, I can totally relate to the stress of "why bother?" And wishing I could wear beautiful party dresses instead of wearing whatever covered up my rolls of fat the best. I too am not at goal, but am enjoying the journey. Ain't life grand?
  24. Jenny as I am nearing my 5-6 month mark, I'm curious what you did to recommit yourself? I would love to have a palm for whatever lies ahead.
  25. I used to be very driven at work before the surgery, and was able to hyper-focus and just crank stuff out. I don't know if it's the lower calories, lower carbs, the distraction of the surgery and recovery or what, but I struggle to focus. I can't read two pages in a book without getting distracted. This from the woman who used to read 2-3 books a week. I just ran 2-3 days of workshops effectively so the gray matter still works, just can't focus on quiet tasks like I used to. Is this to be expected? Is it nutrition/recovery related? I'm 4 months out. And since a picture is worth a thousand words--not to mention more amusing than my dry recitation above--a pic for you.
