  1. My starting stats are close to both of you and I get sleeved Friday. Yay! I'm sitting at 5'6 and 222.
  2. Amy there's another thread on this somewhere. Search Frequent flyers. I'm driving so I can bring you anything else you need. Just let me know. But short answer is no, I've never had trouble taking protein powders through security. I put them in ziplocks and put the ziplocks in my blender ball bottle and I've done this over the years, as well as less than 2 weeks ago with no issues.
  3. omg! That is very inspiring. You look amazing. Good work!

    Frequent Fliers?

Omg I HATE ATL airport! Who designed a place where you walk two miles to get out of the airport?? Ranks up there with MIA which I also love to hate.
  5. August 2nd! I'm so excited. My husband and I are getting sleeved the same day by Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras. This whole liquid pre-op phase is a fantastic prep for what we will face after. I know i will likely lose slow, and i need to be okay with that. When I see others complaining about slow weight loss, I think geez, I would love to lose that fast! And then here I am, whining pre-op within 2 weeks :-D.

    4 months out pics

    very noticeable! Congratulations
  7. I love your comment. Maybe that's how I need to think of this, because if I knew the magic formula, I wouldn't be having surgery would I?

    Pre op liquid diet

For me, the ones that work are Premier Protein from Sams/Costco, Syntrax Mint Chocolate Chip, and Cytosport/Muscle Milk light.
  11. Your ticker says surgery is today. Good luck with everything!

    Frequent Fliers?

I too am an FF but I'm pre op. I'm very interested to see what replies you will get. As prep for my liquid diet, I did substitute shakes for one meal on a recent trip. I took powders and a Blender Bottle and bought Water at the airport. I had those when eating at client sites since I couldn't always be sure they'd be something good for me to eat there. I'm curious how soon most people start flying again? I never check luggage but wondering if I may need to for a while? Sorry hope I am not hijacking your thread but curious to learn from you and other FFs here.
  13. I wouldn't worry about that 7 gms of sugar. It's from the lactase, or milk sugar, not added sugar so it should be ok, especially if you're just doing one of those a day.
  14. I know you didn't ask me this but I'll answer too! Lol. My BMI is 37 and I was told to restrict calories to 800-1000. I think it's more that different doctors seem to have wildly different pre-op routines. My husband and I have the same BMI but he has 50 lbs on me. He was asked to do a 14-day pre-op and I was asked to do 7- days. So even with the same doc, multiple factors seem to play a role.
  15. Add ex husband"s wedding reception and 12 hours of travel to get there, to day 10 of liquid pre-op. Surround yourself with cake, Cookies, peanuts, M&Ms, fruit pies and pretzels. Watch everyone around you tuck in. Eat nothing. Go home starving. Ugh. Fortunately we found a Soup place near our hotel and ate some veg soup and tomato basil soup that filled us up, but I just got yet another glimpse of what life after surgery will be. I will be surrounded by tempting food, and I will have to not eat any of that junk unless I want to jeopardize both my weight loss and my health. No one said it would be easy, right? I'm curious what tough situations others faced during pre and post op and how they got through them? I had to give myself a stern talking to.

Here's a tough day for you

My husband wants you to know that you are absolutely NOT the only one He has trouble with binge eating sometimes. For me, it's not bingeing, it's wanting variety and that sometimes leads me to poor choices. And sugar. That sugar has always gotten me. War story exchange is officially on!

Here's a tough day for you

My kids are well-trained. They know as soon as they walk in, to hand over all the Reese's Peanut Butter cups . That's the only candy I cared about, but that one, I do love. So I'm assuming post-op, Halloween doesn't bother you as much?

Here's a tough day for you

Catherine your post was very helpful. I appreciated your perspective on moderation and I agree, maybe after surgery I'll be satisfied with a bite of cake rather than a slice of cake.
  19. Hang in there for 4-5 days, and you will be back to normal. I too was worried about work and family, etc because I slept a lot during the first days. Day nine now and I'm my usual chipper self as of a few days ago.
  20. I just gave up caffeine during pre-op and I was sooooo miserable! All I wanted to do was sleep for the first 4-5 days. I think that was a mix of lower calories and no caffeine but I made myself gut it out. I'm drinking decaf which has more caffeine in it than we'd like to believe but I'm making it. The one I worry about is sugar. I freely admit I was addicted to sugar. I feel like if I let myself have any, I'll be right back to where I started. I try to think of it as addicts do. It's that first cigarette or first drink that puts you right back to where you started. I'm hoping the cold turkey during pre and post op will wean me off it, otherwise I fear my surgery will be undermined. I really cannot go through all this and end up eating cake afterwards. I hope to be one of the lucky ones that doesn't like the taste of sugar after surgery.

    August 6'ers?

Just another day, maybe two and you will feel normal again. I'm on day 8 and didn't feel normal until about 2 -3 days ago. It truly does get better. So hang in there!

    I was sleeved today!

so glad to hear things went well! It gives me hope for my pre-op that you can post on the day of surgery. Maybe it's not as bad as I fear it will be. Stay healthy and congratulations!
