    Chicken broth with a twist

I made regular chicken broth today (I'm 3 days post op) with fresh garlic, salt, pepper, and a drop of hot sesame oil. Went down warm and easy.

We drove 12 hours 2 days after surgery with a 1-hour nap in between. Good luck to you and the rest!

    1 Year Anniversary

That's fantastic! I too started at 230 and want to be around 150 lbs so very inspiring to see your pics. Thanks for sharing. How much extra skin are you having to deal with?
  4. Sleeved on Friday. In an attempt to ensure I wasn't going to end up dehydrated, I may have pushed too many fluids. Just spent the last 25 mins walking up and down the hallways at home, feeling like there's an elephant sitting on my chest, who also happens to be using his trunk to inflate my stomach simultaneously. What's a realistic liquid goal for this early on? I did also drive 12 hours to get us home today so tired and perhaps not attributing the cause of my discomfort accurately I don't really know.
  5. Did it make you uncomfortable? I was miserable last night. I thought of it as good training for when I accidentally eat too much later, or rather a good reason to not overeat because by golly, it hurts.
  6. Wow. I guess I better get started!

    Crystal light

We have always thinned ours with 50% water. I'm also enjoying G2 right now. Doesn't seem acidic at all.
  8. What's been a revelation in just a few short days is how much better you feel each day. First day we couldn't even do ice chips. Second day we couldn't even really drink 2 sips at a time without discomfort. Today we just finished 4 oz of Syntrax fuzzy navel each via slow sips. Our bodies are amazing little machines, aren't they?

    August 6'ers?

And I promise you, I do actually know how to spell. Combo of autocorrect on iPad, and one day post op not a good one
  11. My fav flavor so far is syntax mint chocolate chip. Tastes just like a milkshake! But for ready maxes, it's hard to best premier protein.
  12. That's a huge change! Congratulations!
  13. I went for my ex-husbands wedding while pre-op on liquids and managed to not eat or drink with some, but not a lot of trouble. I carried RTD Protein drinks and definitely we had our own hotel room to retreat to which helped. For me, when struck with doubt on big issues, I always ask myself which I will regret 5 years from now? Having gone, or not gone? Because in 5 years you don't remember the negatives, only the positives of whatever choices you made. Will you look back and regret having missed the wedding? If so, go and do your best. If not, then rest and take care of yourself and don't feel guilty for making the best choice that you can right now.

    August 2013 Roll Call

One more thing I wish I'd brought was a trial size bottle of mild mouthwash. Where it's the ketosis or just generally surgery blahs, I could have used a mouth freshner from time to time.
  16. We are supposed to be on Clear Liquids the first week. However we are allowed unjury plain and unjury chicken. I assume that means any plain whey isolate like Now foods unflavored etc are ok since they dissolve clear in Water yes? How about syntax fruity favors like fuzzy navel? Are those clear? I ordered that before we left home so not sure what it looks like or whether it qualifies. Would welcome other ideas for clear Proteins drinks as well. Thanks!

    August 2013 Roll Call

You're not allowed anything to drink for the first day and your lips do get a but dry. I found myself rinsing out my mouth with water to wet it, and then applying Chapstick to keep from feeling so dry (well EOS in my case since Chapstick with its menthol is really not good dr you, but you get the point).

    Huge PRE-Vacation NSV!

I can't WAIT to be able to buy vacation clothes whose whole purpose is to cover up every part of me, but still look like beach clothes. Good for you!
  19. I think when people say that, they don't realize how hard we struggle to stay at that weight. When my previous insurance lady to,d me I didn't weigh enough, in was like, "honey tell me how much I need to gain, because I sure can do it!"
