    Any vegetarian sleevers?

Is it wrong to bump my own thread? Sure would love some more suggestions on this.

    August 2013 Roll Call

He does it from the Cook's illustrated recipe out of their Light cookbook. That broth had so much flavor. Best thing I've had in 3 weeks!

    August 2013 Roll Call

I still haven't stopped. I start soups tomorrow and I. Cannot. WAIT!! I agave some great recipes from a book called what to eat after weight loss surgery and I have bought everything for chicken and mushroom soup (puréed) and puréed shrimp bisque. All low fat, low carb, high protein. My husband made his AMAZING and spicy tortilla soup recipe tonight and we drank just the broth. Soooo good!
  4. I'll echo what others are saying about the seriousness of not cheating. But here's another thing. It seems even harder after surgery. I did 2 weeks of liquid with little problem. I'm seven days post-op and all I think of is eating something. Anything. Everything. Biting into crisp, gooey things, I want food!! And I can't have any. For THREE MORE WEEKS. One week of Clear liquids, 2 weeks of full liquids, 1 week of puréed food, and only then, solids. Unless of course I want to rupture my stomach and die of leaks or something. This is serious sh*t. If you can't make it pre-op ask yourself how you intend to do the post-op, where cheating carries with it very, very, serious health risks.

    5 months post op..

wow! you look like an entirely different person. Congratulations!
  8. It's okay. you made a good choice, and as long as you stay within your guidelines, with everything going on, it's okay to cut yourself a little slack if you ask me.

    No Friend Of Mine

I am so glad you posted this. I wrestle with my scale daily. I admire you for deciding to weigh once a week. My big battle now is to only weigh once a day because otherwise I'd step on it four times a day! Every time I go into the bathroom, I want to step on, and I force myself not to. Good luck with your decision. Much healthier all around!
  11. It's a Protein powder from unjury that tastes like chicken soup and you can drink it warm (not hot, otherwise it curdles). Our liquid post op diet only allowed us clear-dissolving protein powders and that happens to be one of them. Like many others, we find the warm Soups sometimes go down easier than cold Protein shakes, so it'd a good add.
  12. I needed so little of what I packed. I stayed in the hospital gowns so only things I used were my soft pillow, iPad, iPhone and chargers, Chapstick, gas-x strips/chewables, regular meds, loose clothing with loose bra, slip on shoes to walk in, chicken Soup unjury. That's it really.
  13. I'm so glad to hear that! Thank you. I will try to keep adding to the thread.

    Disappointed in myself...

I really love how you did focus on the things you learned. That's making the best of a not-perfect situation, and you did that. So yeah, don't be hard on yourself
  17. It was not too bad and we had some rough, Mexico Patches to deal with. It's not pleasant but it's not exactly painful, just uncomfortable. I'd recommend taking along a little pillow to hold against your tummy. We too had the option of flying to San Antonio for a short trip but plus airport, TSA etc and we didn't want to mess with it. If you're driving, I'd say allow yourself the option of stopping half way for the night. We were prepared to do that. It's just that when push came to shove, we decided we'd be more comfortable in our own beds. Hospital beds are lousy for sleeping. Also part of that 12 hours was an hours nap at my son's place which we needed. If you don't want to or can't stop for the night, then I'd fly. We had a choice about stopping, and that made all the difference.
  18. Me too! it's my new Facebook/addiction. I'm spending waaaay too much time on here, but I learn so much.
