    Just Sleeved

Welcome and glad surgery went well!
  3. I agree, sounds like they want to check for a stricture. I am only 3 weeks out but I can eat and drink reasonly well, but if lie down after eating, it doesn't work so well. Not so much If I crouch per se but no more reclining like a Roman on her eating couch for me! Sorry about the day off work but better safe than sorry
  4. Congratulations! Amazing transformation. But the other nice thing is, it's really nice to get a perspective from someone who is almost 2 years out. The board has some lovely vets who are very generous and are available for us, but we don't have nearly as many of them as we have of the rest of us who are lost, confused, terrified newbies So I hope you'll stay for a while and keep sharing your success and how you got there with us.

    preop blues

Yes I was sick of it. What we did was we changed up the flavor. Taco seasoning one day, ramen noodle seasoning the next, hot sauce the day after. Gotta keep it exciting! Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how you are doing.
  6. I've heard a lot of people do those. May be time to try them
  7. We do two at a time along with Omega 3 gummies, 2 Fiber gummies, and one b complex gummy. That's our desert these days. Once we can do pills I will cut them out. I also try to do the barbaric advantage caramel Calcium ones. Sooo tasty!
  8. We SO look forward to it! We save it for the last one of the night so that even if we are sick of trying to eat at night, we might swallow that one without too much fuss. I bought my son one and he loves it too. It's got that minty, cooling thing on your tongue. To me, it tastes exactly like a milkshake. Yum.
  9. My fav ones are Syntrax mint chocolate chip and the chike coffee. We can semi-stand the Syntrax Cookies and cream but we're not liking many others. I can still drink the premier Protein ready made ones from SAMs/Costco.
  10. It's happening to both my husband and to me 3 weeks post op. if we get up suddenly we are almost guaranteed to get a dizzy spell. I thought it was because of the lower calories. My bloodwork last week showed no reasons for it.
  11. You are correct, they don't. I try to take feosol (when I remember separately). Which small ones did you find that have a good set of Vitamins? I need those, they will be easier to travel with than my gummies. I don't see why they would be a problem if they are small.
  12. We do vitafusion multivites gummies and they are SOOO yummy!

Here's a recipe I've been dying to try. Looks simple and flavorful. http://goldilocksfindsmanhattan.com/2013/05/21/tofu-ginger-scallion-sauce/

    How to use tofu.....

I've been having tofu in my Soups for a while and it was so soft, gentle and comforting! It was a lot easier than chewing on a piece of chicken for sure. Worth trying to see how it works I think.
  16. you look great! and I love your comment about waist vs. thigh

6 month visit - need advice

I'm sorry but I think the people on this forum who have successfully done this, as well as you who are successfully doing it, know better what's good for you than a PA. If you look at how many hours of nutrition training doctors get, I can tell you it's not very many, and that most of us have exceeded those hours of study on our own. I've been to nutritionists, none of whom could answer why when my BMR was 1700, was I not losing weight on 1200, 100, or 800 calories (BMR, not even TDEE!) To them, a calorie is a calorie and calories in equal calories out. It's old knowledge and old thinking. You're doing something, it's working. I agree, screw what she has to say and keep on keeping on. and CONGRATULATIONS!!!
  18. what helps me is to know that i might crave a cookie, and then if I eat a cookie, it's not like the craving goes away. I STILL want ANOTHER cookie. So eating it helps nothing. Nada. Zip. I would take this as a sign that you are maybe hungry, and go make yourself a small Protein shake or have some broth or Soup. Put something tasty in your mouth that is on your pre-op diet. And do what all addicts have success doing--don't think about tomorrow. Just tell yourself that you won't have one TODAY. Or for the next 4 hours. Or whatever time table you want to set for yourself. Eat something healthy and tell yourself, I can have it later, just not this hour. And when this hour is over, tell youself, I can have it later, just not this hour. Keep doing that. you will succeed.
  19. The trick for us was to balance Protein shakes with high-protein Soups. I don't think I could have managed without the savory, spicy soups. The too-sweet Protein Shakes were so, so boring and I started getting nauseated with them. I've posted recipes for shrimp bisque, lobster bisque, chicken and mushroom Soup, and chicken tortilla soup that are WLS-Friendly and honestly that's the only way I got through that stage.
