    my fittness pal

I've been using something with which to log my food for years. It becomes habit after a while. I don't just log, I use it to plan. I'll enter a few things in advance of eating them and make sure that I will meet my goals for that day if I eat that stuff. Where it's REALLY helpful is when I plan to eat out. Many times something that sounds healthy turns out to be godawful. The time to pick what you will order at a restaurant is BEFORE you even step into the restaurant otherwise you can sabotage your whole day.

    Head hunger

About 4-5 days out I was dreaming of yummy food CONSTANTLY. It drove me nuts. I'm only about 4weeks out but now, I only think of food when I'm actually hungry. Nice change!

    Zumba after surgery?!

I was told it would be 6 weeks before we were allowed rigorous exercise. But I'm 4 weeks out of an uneventful, easy surgery and I don't think I would be up to going for a gym class in an additional 2-3 weeks. So I guess when you are allowed to go (6-8 weeks) may be quite different from when you can actually go and not pass out in class

    Home-made Garam Masala Recipe

Recipe adapted from my favorite Indian cookbook, Raghavan Iyer's 660 Curries. If you love to cook and are willing to spend a little extra time to make sure everything is made fresh and authentically, this is the one to choose. Best places to get all the spices are either whole foods, central market, or other stores that have spice bins, or an indian grocery store. Ingredientss 2 tbsp Coriander seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp whole black cloves 1/2 tsp cardomom seeds from green/white pods 2 dried bay leaves 3 dried red chiles or 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper or red chile flakes (the kind you put on pizza) 1 2-3 inch piece cinnamon Method 1.Put all ingredients into a clean coffee grinder and grind until it's a coarse-fine powder. I use a this type of coffee grinder. Shake it about as it's being ground so all the seeds and bits get under the blades. 2. When you're finished, unplug the grinder, and turn it upside down. You want all the spice to collect into the lid so you can easily scoop it out without cutting yourself playing about around the blades. 3. Finished! Use in the palak paneer recipe I have posted as well as the chicken curry recipe.

Scared this might be a mistake

My only advice to you is be very sure before you proceed. It's an irreversible procedure with a lot of adjustment and head-work that needs to happen. You have to approach life and food very differently for the rest of your life. If you're not sure, then try it on your own and see how well it works before you have the surgery. There's no rush to do this in a sense, and best to go into it with conviction when/if you do.

    3 month post-op pics!

Wow! Noticeable indeed. My husband has been telling me how my boobs stand out more as the tummy goes down and I can see that in you as well. Makes you look very shapely.

    Surgery was last thursday....

That's fantastic! Congratulations on the weight loss. I think this site is the one place where I feel I can ramble on about my journey and people will understand, so I wouldn't worry about it
  17. Wow! You can really see the difference, especially in your face and tummy. You look great.
  18. Can I just say how glad I am to see posts from people who are actually HAPPY about their losses? None of us could have lost this type of weight before surgery so I'm really, really glad to see threads where we acknowledge that is a fantastic tool. I'm 4 weeks post op and I'm down 25 lbs. Over the last 16 days I've lost "only" 5 lbs and am plateau'ed, but given I've now lost over 10% of my starting body weight, I understand that is typical. For the record, the last time I lost weight this quickly was when I was dying, bed-ridden, and could only consume 1/2 a Protein shake, and 1/4 of a Peanut Butter sandwich all day! The time before, it took me 6 months to lose 13 lbs and I was walking 4 miles a day and eating under 1000 calories and was hungry all the time. I have lost this time from feasting on crab cakes, yummy eggs, sausages, chicken curries and other goodies. Thank you Universe! .

    Sleevers over age 55?

My husband got sleeved with me. I am 47, he is 60. Now in fairness, he was always very strong for a 60 year old but his recovery has been as fast as mine. He is down 36 lbs in a month, and doesn't seem to be having any issues that indicate slower healing. HTH.
  20. Unless I'm misunderstanding, the OP wasn't planning to eat at McD on this visit, just asking what one could have in the long-term. I've thought of the grilled chicken sandwich with no bun, the chicken/steak wraps with no tortillas just eat the insides, and the English muffin Breakfast thing (sorry I don't know what it's called) without the English muffin, just the ham and egg. Bluto started a thread about healthy fast food options that you might search for, since people had some great ideas for quick but WLS meals on the go.

    6 months down 76lbs

You look great! Congratulations on your hard work.
  22. Out of curiosity, how do you get in enough calories to breast feed? Or does it just mean you will lose the weight that much faster?

    Im not losing. Urghhhh!

I'm 4 weeks out, I've lost 25 lbs and I am totally delighted by it. My SW was 225 and CW is 205 so 20lbs since surgery. I have a lot more to go but I've NEVER Lost this much before. Don't be hard on yourself. It's good.
