    Autoimmune Issues and VSG?

There are two blood tests that kinda point the way--but not necessarily. My blood levels are up on both. Looking at them, you'd say I need the meds. But the problem is, many people have elevated levels on both tests--but do not have RA. So it's a bit of a crapshoot. I know I'm over thinking this and should just let the doc decide but I just really don't want to be on the meds if I don't need to be. I will schedule am appt for next week if I can get in to see him.

About 18mos out - HUNGRY and STALLED

I saw a wonderful meme today that said, "Don't eat any food that has a TV commercial made for it". Makes sense, right? OP, how are you doing?

    Airplane food?

Wow that's a great idea! I fly several times a month. I think I'll ask mine for one too.
  4. Sigh. Lets maybe not pick on that one poster. There were some other pretty rude ones too. Lets let it go and help the OP maybe.

    Autoimmune Issues and VSG?

Do you know, I didn't. I don't know what to do. I am not hurting at all. No swelling, no redness, no pain. It's been 8 weeks without meds. I took half the methotrexate dose one week, an the very next day, my knees hurt so bad. So I've stopped taking all of it. I really should go see the rheumatologist. The problem is, when I first went to him I was practically bed-ridden and was using a walker since a doc had mistakenly taken me off the methotrexate. My new rheumy said he cried after I left, because of how much pain I was in. Can you believe that? My fear is he will do everything he can to avoid the small chance that I might get that way again, and will want to put me back on the drugs "just in case". I truly do feel I am in remission and don't need them yet so I'm struggling. I guess I'll go see him and have a chat.

    Faux-shi! NOM NOM NOM!

Oh that sounds so good! I need a change and this one sounds worth trying. Thanks for sharing!
  7. Guys, seriously?? do you think this will never happen to you during the rest of your life? I can't believe some of the nasty posts. SO not helpful. OP, I'm sure this will happen to many of us. Although I'm not far enough out yet, one of the things that helped me pre-op was being forced to give up the carbs doing the liquid diet. I find that when I eat carbs, I just keep getting hungrier and hungrier. Perhaps you can get yourself back on track by increasing your Protein intake over the weekend? By eating your protein first? Sending you good wishes and lots of good luck.
  8. All of what you said. But I'm also amazed at how little food it really takes to keep us alive! I can't get over that.

    Going out!

Go ahead and give him the stink eye for telling you that! Oh well, guess you'll just have to stay home and BE HEALTHY and LIVE LONGER instead.
  13. On my blog, I post photos once in a while of what I eat, and how much I eat. If you need any more reassurance that soon, all of you will be enjoying yummy food, go there and search for "what I eat" and you will see some of the wonderful, normal foods that await you--and keep in mind I'm only 6 weeks out and have only been eating food for 3 of those.

Too much food making me angry

I'm also getting better about becoming an Order Diva. I order exactly what I want whether or not its on the menu. Yesterday for lunch I asked for just a scoop of chicken salad. The girl was thrown into a tizzy but I figured if they had a chicken salad sandwich they had chicken salad! They figured it out. For dinner, I asked for the insides of one fish taco. Confused the waiter, but he did ask. And I got a plateful of yummy, well-seasoned Tilapia that I really enjoyed. Granted a lot of both got thrown down the drain but it was what I wanted and I wasted less. As is my usual experience, I think people mainly enjoy helping others. If you ask nicely, it's quite nice to see how people step up and help us get what we need for the most part.
  17. Thank you for posting this! This confirms what I have read and suspected for a lomg time for me and my husband. Some of us are more carb sensitive than others and much more likely to get hungry after eating carbs.
