  1. no roots after 6 weeks sounds sooooo good! I'll take it! I haven't had this. my hair is growing thicker and faster than before. I think it's because of the additional Protein? But it's dry like straw which I haven't had before, I think that's due to lower fat diets. I went in yesterday and had to get it cut, colored and a massive conditioning thing done because it literally felt like straw. Typically my hair is fairly soft and doesn't misbehave too terribly much. Weird how much the same diet affects us all so differently, right?
  2. I have been trying to get about 700 calories daily. (At six weeks out, my initial goal of 800 was too ambitious.) I use MFP to track and it’s interesting to see how I have this cycle of more hungry followed by less hungry. I think “normally thin” people perhaps eat like this. We keep hearing them say, somedays I eat a lot and then the next day, I eat a little less to accommodate for the treat from the day before. I’m not sure I understood that before, because when I tracked my calories, I was always trying to stay under some ridiculous minimum that left me hungry all the time so I ate every one of the calories I allowed myself. But now, letting my hunger dictate my caloric needs seems to be producing this nice up and down curve (A sinusoidal curve, us geeky statisticians would call it). But it’s sweet nonetheless. Another NSV! Listening to my body and feeding it appropriately. Are you guys seeing the same thing?

Aw that sucks. I'm so sorry. IT's a lot of adjustment for both partners. You decided to make a change that also impacts him, and he may or may not have wanted change. I'm sure you guys will work out what's best for each of you. Sending you strength and good wishes.

    Fiber supplement

The one thing I'd keep is the Gas-x because if you need them, it will be during the first few days when you won't be able to go to the store. Rest of the stuff, yeah, return until you need it.

    Fiber supplement

Wow I did not know that! Very helpful. I was still stuck on trying to get 25 gms a day because that's what is recommended, wondering how the heck I was ever going to do that. I'm eating between 600-700 so I need about 10 gms, which is totally doable once I can eat normally. Thank you for sharing that!
  7. baaaahahahaha! that was funny
  8. I stay cheerful and upbeat and happy. I am glass half full. I stay motivated. Usually. Today I want to scream. In the last 30 days I've lost 5 lbs. Yes. Five. Six weeks post op and I'm down 25 lbs but seriously. Five lbs in a month. I want to start walking but I've wrenched my back and can barely sit up. Yesterday, my ex-husband, and the father of my oldest son fell down and broke his neck poor guy. His wife found him wandering around the house bleeding all over the place so at least no paralysis. He seems to be okay but dang! My son is there today. My clients are all looking at budget cuts but none have told me what it will mean for the rest of the year and the suspense is killing me. Especially since they've asked for additional deliverables. Clients, please call me and put me out if my miserable suspense! I have worked 3 days in a row that were 18+-hour days and I'm tired. I was supposed to take today off to make up for working Labor Day but I have deliverables due today. My back hurts. My gummy Vitamins from amazon arrived in one big melted lump. I am having trouble getting my liquids in even though I feel like all I do is either eat, wait to drink after eating, or drink. Worked 20 hour day yesterday getting to and from a pitch that we spent a lot of time and money for--only to find out client has no clue what they really want. My younger son is away this weekend and I will miss him. Client decided to have an internal team deliver a piece of work promised to us. My colleague read my horoscope yesterday and told me I was going to have an 8-rated day (out of ten) and that's when everything I listed above happened. I want her money back for the sh/tty newspaper that told us that. And YES I started my period right before the pitch meeting. WHY DO YOU ASK???!!! Sigh. I'm being a whiny butt I know. And yes it's probably a TOM thing. But daaaangg!!! Can I get a do-over?? Thanks for listening to me rant.
  9. I loved reading your post. I read bits of it out to my husband. One of the strange and unexpected benefits of this forum for me, has been the support and stories about things that don't even really concern surgery, but just life challenges. Pretty much everything I'm going through, someone else on here can relate to and share their own experiences about, and that is a pretty powerful experience. I used to be on a dating site's side forum that met the same need for me, but once I met my husband, I stopped going there. I still have many virtual friends, but we're not on the forum anymore. I was struck by what you said re similarities in weight loss stalls, and rainmaking stalls. You get through both the same way don't you? Ensure you scrutinize what you're doing, tighten up areas, you're screwing up in, keep the faith, and keep at it. In life as in business, what other way is there to win? Thank you for that insight. ((hugs))

    Post op advice

Suzy, I blogged about my first 9 days. Here is a link to the first six days. Yes there was remorse, hormones, sadness, crying, anger, snapping. And it's best for your family to be prepared and know it's normal and not want you to "snap out of it". http://sleevers.wordpress.com/?s=six+days&submit=Search

    Fiber supplement

I am 6-weeks post op and am still a bit concerned about drinking metamucil as fast as one has to before it gets to be a solid mess. For that reason, we are doing about 5-10 gms in fiber gummies a day, and that seems to help. I also think Benefiber chewables would help. Personally, I'd rather add fiber and let my body do it's thing than take laxatives/Mom/Miralax.

    Non believers

I think if more people believed, truly believed as you do, that God is in all of us, then perhaps we'd treat each other better than we do today. On a very minor scale, even the way we sometimes treat certain posters on this board...if we believed we are all the "stuff of stars", and had a bit of whatever divine force exists, surely we'd be nicer no matter how confused the poster. Then again, maybe I'm just hormoning

    Non believers

My point is that faith for me, is not a choice. I would love to believe as others do, but that's not an option for me.

    Straws!

I want to see the first organization that gets funding to scientifically study such a serious issue In the meantime, I think if it feels good, you should do it and if it hurts, you should stop. There. Maybe someone will give me the million dollars I just saved the, in research funding!

    Straws!

I drink with them all the time. Otherwise I don't get all my liquids in. They've never caused a problem for me

    Hungry feeling...3 weeks out!

Yes it's normal for many of us. We've been on pre-ops, we're eating nothing now. Our bodies are starving and they let us know. While some feel no hunger, many of us seem to feel hungry when it's time to eat. The saving grace for now seems to be that a little food satisfies us, and we don't seem to need to eat for another little while. As you are able to eat more, you will be able to go longer between mini-meals. I'd suggest that you track total calories and don't exceed your guidelines, and other than that, don't worry about it.
  21. If you had REALLY wanted to cheer me up, you'd have posted a picture :-D
