Hi, Has anyone been sleeved by Dr. Roberts out of St. Joseph in Pontiac? I am in the middle of the 3 month process of gaining insurance approval. So far I've been very impressed by the office but wanted to get some feed back about the surgeon and your experience in the hospital. I expect to be scheduled for surgery around the beginning of October. Thanks for your help.

What are you doing for the itching? I'm scared to put anything near my incisions. -
October 11th, 2013? Anyone?

I was sleeved on Friday at 2:00pm. The first day wasn't bad. I was really sore about 24-36 hrs after surgery. Just kept making myself move. Never really had much gas pain. Went home yesterday. Pain isn't bad. Any sip of anything causes a series of grumbles. Was really surprised by the fact that a sip is filling my entire stomach. -

I'm October 11th! Pretty excited about it. I had to do a 1000 diet for 8 days. The first 5 were not limited, the last 3 are Clear Liquids with Protein Drinks. -
Aetna has 14 days to respond to the request for approval. It took exactly 14 days for Aetna to notify my surgeon of approval. I have a bmi of 45 and have been over 40 for the past 2 years, but have no co morbidities. My surgery is scheduled for Oct 11th. I'm so excited.

I don't plan to disclose that I'm having the VSG surgery at work, but I need to take two weeks off. How did you handle this at your place of employment. I work in a professional environment but at a small company, about 150 employees. I know if I say I'm having surgery people will want to know why and I really don't think that discussion is one I want to have with co-workers.

Yes, I can take medical leave. I'm not as concerned about the HR aspect as the nosey co-workers.lol... Thanks everyone this has been helpful!

Question about ultrasound

I would call them and explain it. They can probably accomplish the same thing with a catheter - filling your bladder with saline. Without it having to go through your stomach. -
