I am back on my NSAIDs ( Motrin 800 mg 1-2 tabs per day) d/t my extreme hip pain and back pain my surgeon said if I need it once I got onto drinking shakes good and puréed food wich was about 2 weeks post op I could start taking liquid Motrin then about 1 week later I was back on the 800 tabs they just worry about it laying on the stomach lining and causing a ulcer with nothing in your gut. So every. Morning with my big protein shake I take my Motrin wich I sip over a 1-2 hrs because it is about 16 oz then in evening I take with my dinner and drink. M.d is fine with that I would stress to your surgeon and see if it really is o.k to take for your pain. Best of luck I know how bad that pain is.

It really sounds like you have your mind made up to do it. If you have the money to self pay I think you should try to do counseling and weight loss regimens for your daughter to teach her nutrition eating habits ex cerise along with the counseling. I am a mother of 2 children and a nurse it is a constant struggle to keep them from being obese with my and my husbands family most being overweight but I feel 14 is to young so many years of different experiences coming up I think you should reevaluate after all avenues are exhausted and when she is at least 19.Best of luck to you and yours!

Wow I also had my sleeve surgery on July 10 2013 my surgery went smooth (thank god ) I am sooo sorry to hear of your complications that is terrible! I am also a nurse I can't believe thy didn't check vitals and o2 sats on you regular ! I had a o2 sat taped to my finger for 2 days with 24 monitoring of this seems strange they NEVER checked this? Also I hope your sipping goes better mine is doing much better seems like I can sip pretty big mouthfuls now compared to first post op. best of luck & much success for brighter days! -
I also had my 1 week checkup last weight was one week before surgery and weighed today in 2 weeks lost 16 lbs not bad i will take it check up went well everything looks great feeling better every day like I have more energy! Doc said I can go to a very thin purée food anything I can mash through a mesh strainer next week anything that can go through a colander a little nervous to try I might stay on mostly full liquids for a couple days.... But at any rate I will keep my eye on the prize! Next checkup 3 weeks.

Don't worry I also have 2 small children ages 7 & 2 and my husband is self employed so when he misses work he doesn't get paid so I thought I would be down and out for a while but it wasn't so I had my surgery on a Wednesday came home Friday evening and my husband was back to work Monday and I was home with my 2 kids alone and doing ok....you know cooking dishes some bare minimal stuff first few days but fine with them and husband helped with bath and extra chores in evening. I would have never thought this esp first 2 days in the hospital and how I felt I thought I would be down and out for weeks but you get better quick! I am currently 1 week post-op and doing good! Best of luck to you and your family! -
Hi. Everyone I thought I would says congrats to you fellow sleeves, I also had my sleeve on July 10 th in New York I wrote a post before regarding my experience to date but anyways nice to see other people sleeved around the same time. Well 5 days out sipping my protein shakes and liquids the sipping is getting easier but I also noticed my bigger sips fill me up fast it just sneaks up on me. Sometimes feeling hungry like when I see my family eating their meal or those damm late night food commercials ...lol nice to meet you all and best of luck!

My3lovies posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi everyone! I am new to the site but I have been scanning for a while. I want to give a little info about my self. I am a 40 yr old woman I am a nurse but have been home with my 2 small children for the last 5 yrs as a homemaker. I am extremely blessed that my wonderful husband is able to afford this for our family. I will try to give stats then my story First md visit for sleeve consult was April 27ish 2013. Weight 385 Followed south beach diet and some exercise regime for a month 2 nd md visit was may 25 Weight 370 Surgery scheduled on July 10. 2013 my date choice Week before surgery had pre surgery testing and had to go back to phase 1 south beach very strict no carbs and for the day before surgery only Clear liquids and nothing after midnight night before surgery SURGERY DATE: July 10 2013 Weight: 360 Surgery day operation was approx 1 1/2 hours long my surgeon informed my husband after surgery everything went very well I did great listening to instructions of shrinking down my liver no bleeding inside and I needed no drains it was completed laparoscopy I have 5 small incisions he also fixed my small hiatal hernia. Post op surgery. Ok this is we're everyone's experience I am sure is different the surgey I felt was harder then I thought it would be that night and the next day I was feeling just the worst mostly nausea and pain I really started to wonder what the hell did I just do? But the following day I felt a million times better! On day 3 I went home and I don't feel near as bad as I did day one . So day one I barely eat a ice chip Day 2 small sips of clear Water Day 3 discharged home drinking sips do clear liquids about 1 tablespoon at a time trying to do about 2 oz a hour. Here I am the morning of the 4 th day predawn hours writing this blog sipping some pain medicine with some liquids feeling ok some soreness and tired so glad I don't feel as bad as day one just thinking about a more exciting and hopefully a better quality of life for me and my family! Signing off for now I am going to try to keep up on this blog ...never blogged before but I love everyone else's stories so I thought I would throw mine in in case any one wanted to comment or ask questions. Well good luck everyone out their and god bless! -
