Thank you for this post. You just took me back to my childhood. My grandfather made these for us each summer when we would go to visit him in the south . Now I have to figure out how to get some here in AZ.

Stricture- Part 2

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear that. I hope that you have a swift recovery. So do they have a plan for what to do next? -
EVERYTHING makes me nauseated!
daadelishopeful replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there. I know it may not seem like it right now, but it will get better. I am 9 weeks post op now and still struggle to get H20 and Protein in. I am still on mushies. It is different for everyone, but you will feel better. The first several weeks, you just need to rest, heal, and learn how to sip your liquids and do your best to get those fluids down. Don't stress if you can't get them all in, as it is a process for all of us. You are doing fine. Good luck. -

daadelishopeful replied to megancd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I hope the stricures are better. Did the 2nd dilation work? I am scheduled to have my 2nd endoscope/dilation tomorrow. I am hopeful that this procedure will help my sleeve and help me to keep food and Fluid down. -

I'm getting sleeved but my partner isnt. Anyone have this situation?
daadelishopeful replied to endless80's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My husband has been very supportive of my surgery and WL journey. 8 weeks ago when we started this, he began to work out daily. However he has fallen of the "band wagon", lately. I am now more aware of both my and his eating habits(portion control) and I decided that I am going to help him by preparing his plates for him when I can. He has no concept of portion control and just eats and eats. He is 5'11" and @ 250. As partners, I feel like we have to do this together. I want to support him as he has supported, loved and accepted me over the last 17 years. I can't loose weight and get healthy and not do my part to take care of my honey too. He and I both decided last night that our goal weight is 200lbs. I told him that works for me(although I plan to go a little lower). So now we are going to move forward together and support each other. Thanks for posting this topic and best of luck to you and your partner. -

daadelishopeful replied to gamergirl's topic in Soft (stage 3)
Thank you for this recipe. I love indian food. I am going to try this recipe this weekend. Keep the great recipes coming. I haven't tried cooking with my crock pot yet, so this gives me a great reason to. -
In my case, I am vomit farely regularly. Had stricture and needed dilation and will have another next week. Sometimes it happens when you stomach is too small or their is scar tissue that narrows the stomach/esophogus or pyloris(in my case).

I am 8 weeks post op and I initially started out trying to work out a few times a week, but lack of fluid and food, forced me to stop for now. I plan to get into a healthy and regular work out routine once my eating and fluid intake issues are resolved. I really want to incorporate exercise into my lifestyle again. Plus I don't like the loss of muscle in my body. It feels weird.

Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
daadelishopeful replied to TvlGrl712's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I regret that I had to have the surgery. So many people have this surgery and hear all the whistles and bells about it and decide to have the surgery. I had some complications that I didn't expect and am still struggling to drink and eat 8 weeks post op. This is not a simple procedure and one that requires some serious reflection and behavior changes. You may not feel great 2 weeks post op. Are you prepared for possible complications? I thought I had done all the research and was prepared, then my experience did not go as planned. I wondered what I had done to myself. What if I could never eat and drink properly again in this body. What would that mean to my family and to my quality of life? On the flip side, yes, I am 40+ lbs lighter. I can cross my legs again and get in to smaller clothes. I am off of my diabetes and blood pressure meds too. All of these are possitives, but I cannot eat a normal meal or drink fluids on any given day without knowing if it is going to stay down. I can only believe that in time, this will get better. People ask me if they should get the sleeve and I am honest. I tell them that I cannot answer that question. I share my story to date, and my hope for a better tomorrow. Because if I give in to regret, then I am in trouble! Best of luck with your journey. -
Please listen to your body and don't rush the process. Everyone is different and the healing process in this journey will be unique to your circumstances. I have a desk job, and planned to return at 6 weeks(with my doctors blessings). Not having had major surgery before, I wanted to give my body and mind time to adapt to this new lifestyle(and believe me it is new). I had some complications that I did not expect, so I am now 8 weeks post op and still not able to return to work just yet(thank goodness for short term disability!). My point is that you will read that people return a week or 2 post op. Some people bounce right back from surgery, which is great, but don't compare yourself to them. They may be going back soon after because they have to. If you have good benefits and are able to take time to heal properly, then do so. This is a major journey that will require physical, mental and emotional recovery time. Best of luck.

Wow, I am just jealous that you can eat a slice of pizza 7 weeks post op. I will be 8 weeks post op this Wednesday and I can not get more than 1-2 oz of food in at any time and still struggle to keep liquids down some days. I dream of just being able to eat anything without nausea and vomiting. I think that like some others on this forum have expressed, that the sleeve is a tool that we use to moderate our food intake. I don't believe that you will go to food hell or gain weight from eating a small slice of pizza. I hope you enjoyed it for all of us who cannot eat right now. Now I have to go find this cauliflower crust recipe for the day that I can eat food again . Thanks D...

Did you lose weight and get shorter
daadelishopeful replied to mrdr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay I am not going completly crazy. I have been5' 7" for all of my adult life(even prior to my weight gain). I went to an appointment the other day and my height read as 5' 6". I wanted to mention that they made an error, but just left it alone. Oh my goodness.... I am shrinking.... ! WEIRD. But as they say, you have to give to get! If I have to give up a few inches in height to loose this weight, then I am okay with that. Thanks for this post. -

Thoughts please...
daadelishopeful replied to megancd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having the same problem. My procedure was done on 6/26. I had an endoscope w/ dilation last week. I am able to get some food(soups/liquids) down, but it gets stuck in my esophagus and half of the time comes back up. I am worried that I am going to have to have another endoscope and am not looking forward to that. I would definitely encourage you to call your surgeon. -
I am 7 weeks post op and still struggling on some days to get it right. Yesterday started out great, was able to get half a premier protein shake down and had breakfast(mini crust less quiche). But by afternoon, everything just started coming up. I couldn't even keep fluids down. Vomited 5+ times yesterday. But you know what, I just went to bed, and got up this morning, reflected on what wins I had yesterday(I didn't end up at the hospital), and pulled out another premier vanilla drink and preparing to start again today. I hear you, this is not easy for some of us, but we will get there. Yesterday I was really frustrated and sad, as I read how others were doing great, while I struggled to just keep fluids down. But I figure this is part of my journey. I am a foodie, so if this was easy, maybe I would have slipped back into bad behaviors by now. I just accept that anything worth having is worth fighting for and I don't give up. You will have bad days, and this is so much more emotional and mental, than physical on some levels. But you keep pushing and reaching out to your support. Try those premier protein drinks( I found they are pretty good). Try the greek yogurt and cheese if you can stomach it(I can't). Just keep trying, it will come! We are going to look back in a few months and smile!

Diabetis and the gastric sleeve
daadelishopeful replied to Debra Rodriguez's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I had the surgery on June 26th and I have/had type 2 diabetes. I have been off meds since the surgery and my PCP who I saw about 2 weeks ago, told me that he wants me to stay off of them for 3 months (since my #s were good) and then we can see what to do next based upon what my A1C #s look like at that time. -
How long till you felt human
daadelishopeful replied to pjknitts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, it has been a bit longer. I had a few setbacks, but now 7 weeks post op, I am beginning to feel like a human being again. Energy level is getting better and less nausea. It is different for everyone, but I have found that it is just a process and we just have to do our best to follow the rules and know that it does get better. Unfortunately, there is no specific "feel better" date. That would have been so nice. Best of luck...hang in there. -
Hi Journey619, Just checking in. You know, I read the post and everyone offers some good feedback. I hope you are feeling a bit more encuraged after these responses. But I thought about your username(journey...) and just wanted to remind you that you on some level realized that that is what you are on. As I said, my first 6 weeks were not fun, and I have had my fair share of doubt and regret, but I also keep in mind what I have gained from this journey so far. I am off of my diabetes and bp meds. I can cross my legs( I know, may seem insignificant, but a big deal for me), I am taking care of myself, I am facing how big of a role food played in my life and trying to find new healthy ways of addressing this, and hell if all els fails, I remember that I am 40+ lbs lighter ! If you are struggling with your new reality, and mourning the loss of your old relationship with food, know that this is a part of the journey. If you need support, get it! You have a community here, but sometimes we need additional help. Remember that you are a brave person, and it took a huge amount of strength and courage to decide to have WLS and to take control of your life again. Don't give up....I am not sure what the source of the regret is( for me, it was the loss of being able to eat what I wanted, when I wanted), but keep finding support. I found this blog and I find it offers me ideas and encouragement. Check it out, I hope it helps: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/

This post made my morning ! RIP to all the rolls lost, and to those we will loose.

Hang in there. I am going on 7 weeks post op and I still struggle with what I chose to do. I appreciate the positive aspects of my journey, but I still struggle with keeping liquids and food down and figuring out what I should eat daily. I heard everyone around me talk about how great their sleeve experience was and just assumed that my experience would be similar. However that was not the case for me. I regret that had had to do this to loose the weight, however I appreciate the tool offered to me. It will get better, and you will feel better as the weeks pass. Continue to focus on learning to get those fluids and protein in. Take care of yourself and give yourself time to heal. Measure your progress by how you feel week to week. Don't compare yourself to others. I have to remind myself that I am unique and so is my journey. Same for you. You will feel better over time, but keep communicating with others about your feelings(it helps). Best of luck.

Endoscope and dilation- Has anyone had to have this procedure post op?
daadelishopeful posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, I am almost 6 weeks post op and still struggling to keep mushy food and sometimes liquids down. I can barely keep down 1/4 cup of my mushy foods and some days I can't keep down fluids. I spoke to my doctor and he wants to do a endoscope and "stretch" my stomach a bit because he thinks that is the problem with the vomiting. I am okay with the scope, but concerned about having my stomach "stretched". Has anyone had these procedures done? And what if any results did you have afterwards? I am a bit concerned and would appreciate any feedback. Thank you. D. -
