    6 weeks post

I'm also 6 days out, sleeved on the 26th. I take an antacid, drink tons of water, and in between my protein supplements provided by doctors office (shakes, pudding, broth) I eat a sf jello. Amazing how just a jello can fill be up. I think the hunger I feel is mostly in my head.

    Any Michigan Sleevers?

Hi! I'm doing great. Dr. Foote was amazing and St. Mary's was a great hospital. I didn't want to leave! Haha. Managing to get all my Water in and about 3 Protein supplements. Between that and meds and Vitamins I am constantly in a state of fullness!! How are you?

    Any Michigan Sleevers?

Was sleeved on Aug 26th, Grand Rapids. Dr. Foote was my surgeon, Grand Health Partners. The whole experience has been amazing!!!

    Fluids

I was sleeved on the 26th. My doctors office makes us buy their products for pre and post op. at first that annoyed me but it is making this a lot easier to manage in the long run. I bought core protein shakes, chocolate pudding mixes, cream of chicken soup mix, and hot chocolate mix. They are all formulated with protein. I have had no trouble getting my water in bc I always seem to feel thirsty. I have made a routine of sorts so that I get 3-4 protein supplements consumed in addition to just constantly sipping the water. We are also allowed SF jello and SF Popsicles which are counted towards water consumption. My bottle holds 24 ounces so I'm finishing one in the morning, one before "dinner time" and then another in the evening by bedtime. I take a lot of pills and vitamins in the am and pm which take FOREVER to swallow but I usually down about half the water bottle by the time I'm done. I also walk about three times a day including a one mile walk so I'm constantly sipping while walking. My docs office said these two or so post op weeks were going to feel like a full time job and I can agree!!! Good luck!! Hope you are feeling better!!!
  6. Happy to report that for me, day 5 post-op I have had very little "ugly". First day I was nauseas and had hard hunger pangs. But once they adjusted my meds and I stopped the pain pump, I felt really good. No gas pains, no constipation, no drain, thankfully. Walk walk walk. I've been home two full days and have walked a mile each day. I have no trouble drinking 64 plus ounces of fluid and have managed 50 or so grams of protein in liquid form daily. I am surprised how good I feel so far. I wish the same for everyone!!

    Crab cakes as sliders?

Gamer girl, I love your posts and insights!!
  8. Thanks for bringing this up! I was sleeved on the 26th and just got home today. I am having no problem sipping my water, I'm up to 56 ounces already. I had a jello and a cup of broth too. I was worried I'm able to take in too much. Glad to hear others are feeling similar. I also have no gas pain either. Just lucky I guess???

    drank too much

I'm still in the hospital and by day two (yesterday) I had no trouble with an ounce at a time of protein drink as well as decent sips of water. Was concerned this is too easy too soon!!

We made 8 oz of fish...

You are an amazing cook! Yum!
  11. I am so excited and so ready!!!!
  12. Gamer girl, while I'm sure your home cooked Indian food is amazing, I found a lot of the trader joes Indian frozen Entrees to taste like good restaurant quality. My family also loves the turkey meatballs and teriyaki chicken. Last night they steamed TJ frozen tamales. Omg they looked good. I'm on day 12 of pre op and surgery Monday. I need to stop talking about food...haha
  13. Can you believe my trader joes is a four hour round trip? I went before I started my pre op diet. Made it so easy for the kids to cook!!

    August 2013 Roll Call

I am right outside Grand Rapids, MI. Amazingly I have not cheated one iota--yet! I like seeing the scale go down. But I have very little energy by the end of the day!!

    August 2013 Roll Call

I'm the 26th too! How are you doing? Pre-op diet going well? I'm starving but totally ok with that. I know this will all be worth it!!
  16. I'm scheduled for surgery on the 26th. I started off very slowly telling just a few people. Every single person I told has been so supportive. I have not gone so far as to announce it on Facebook but I feel a lot more comfortable telling people. I think you might be surprised when/if you start telling people. When people who don't know ask me about the weight loss I plan to say, diet, exercise, and surgery.
  17. To my fellow GHP buddies---you were right about my pre-op diet! I came home today with lots of boxes and pouches of freeze dried and other processed "food". I start tomorrow. I'm relieved it isn't all liquid BUT I have to say the ingredients in these products leave a lot to be desired. Anyway, hope everyone is doing well!!
  18. Great idea and you look fantastic!!!!
  19. Thanks for the heads up regarding the soup. It's a bummer that we have to eat pre made processed food but I guess it's the best way for them to keep track of caloric and Protein intake. I'm relieved that it isn't a two week liquid diet. I do have some anxiety that they are still going to tell me that when I show up on Monday--haha. How do you feel about the procedure overall and your weight loss? Are you pleased? How are you doing incorporating it into your daily life?
  20. I bought a canister of Synthrax (sp?) unflavored while I was shopping on Amazon the other day. I hope it comes in handy. The reviews were very high. It does look a bit challenging to get all your Protein in while keeping calories at a minimum. But you are losing so well, I bet you are very pleased!!!
  21. Hi! Sounds like you are doing great!! Are you nervous to go back to work? Do you have a family you have to cook for/take care of? I'm concerned about that during both the pre op and post op stages...thankfully I'm a stay at home mom so I don't have to worry about going back to work but I do have to cook and take care of my kids...is that something you are balancing too? What is your post op diet like right now? Is it products from GHP? And how has your walking going? I'm sure my questions sound all over the place. I'm feeling kind of scatterbrained lately. This week I decided to stop eating everyday by 4 and then have a store bought Protein shake in place of dinner. I go to bed starving but I've lost a few pounds already and I think it is helping me prepare. I also stopped drinking coffee which is giving me a huge headache. I've told quite a few people, all of whom have been excited and supportive. Did you seriously tell no one? Did you have any help or support while at the hospital or t home? Write back when you can, or private message if you want. Have a good night, Elana
  22. Great list!!!! I'm just first going to the pre op meeting on Monday but it's interesting to see what you start transitioning to. Did you use any unflavored protein powder to mix into puddings or soups?
