I buy Premier Protein shakes at SAMs club, and they are pretty good. I add some cinnamon to the vanilla ones, then they taste like snicker doodles. A tsp. of peanut butter, or one of those Almond Joy pods from the coffee creamer section at the grocery store makes the chocolate ones better. Besides the foods you mentioned, you can also add unflavored protein powder to soup, and it's pretty good. Tomato is my favorite. Good luck!

MJM, well at least now you know what's wrong. Since you posted several hours ago, I'm hoping you've seen your surgeon by now. I'm glad you're staying positive. You are right, God is in control, and you will be fine. I'm sending prayers to you. ((Hug)) Curious whether the doc can fix your sleeve, or do an rny bypass. Regardless, it will all work out. A big YAY for no more diabetes!
-
MJM, be sure and let us know how it goes tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you! Yay for all of you with nice losses! I am wearing some clothes I had stashed in the closet from slimmer days, and it feels great! Don't you just love being on the Losers' Bench? Wanted to mention, I added a small Almond Joy coffee flavor pod to my chocolate protein shake today. YUM!!

Welcome MsMitch! I had my 3 week check-up today, and had lost another 5.8, which brings my post-op loss to 14.8. Total loss is 33.8. Not too bad since the scales stayed in one place for SIX days! The doc gave me permission to stop crushing my meds, and to give up the chewable vitamins for regular ones. Whoot! I had to promise to cut my big calcium tablet in half, though. I just have to say, I LOVE my sleeve!

Thank you SO much for this tip! I will be trying it, starting tomorrow.

Failing...by the book.
TooFluffy replied to CoffeeGrinDR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FLHgal, my situation is almost identical to yours. I have followed all the rules and have not had a change in the scales in a week. That's not a stall, but it IS aggravating. What has helped me, is that I have read on these boards, even before surgery, how common this is. We just have to stay with it, and be patient. -
What kind of milk is that?

What are you NOT doing (but supposed to)?
TooFluffy replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad I'm not the only one! 1. I began having coffee as soon as I was released from the hospital 3 weeks ago. 2. I have had toast, but just 1/2 slice at a time. 3. I use a straw, and found I swallow less air with one, than without. 4. Sometimes I eat too fast. It's difficult to make 3 oz. of something last 30 minutes! 5. I could definitely step up the exercise! -
Recycled, ounces refer to weight. Volume is measured by teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, etc. Generally, for liquids, 2 tablespoons is one ounce. That doesn't hold true for all foods, though. Just think how much volume there is in one ounce of puffed wheat, for example - a whole cereal bowlful.

Drinking with Straws
TooFluffy replied to nateinct's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 days out and have been using a straw for 5 of them. No problem at all. Since we don't suck and swallow at the same time, and our tongues kind of create an airless space while we draw in the liquid, it seems we get less air with a straw, than without one, even figuring in the air in the top if the straw. That's just me, though, and I say do what your surgeon recommends. -
The numbers are in.... & I still can't believe it!

How can you tell you're losing weight?
TooFluffy replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm newly sleeved, but even with only my pre-op loss, I can see the loss in my face, clothes, and the scales. -
No pain or nausea here. Just a bit of weakness. Like HazelEyes, I know walking has helped me immensely. MJM, oatmeal is on my list, but it must be thin. Thin Mashed potatoes are on it, too, along with the other stuff like applesauce, strained creamed soups, etc. It's amazing how 1 & 1/2 oz. of food fills me up! Do any of you have a new aversion to sugar? The idea of biting into a piece of candy is sickening. So far, I'm loving my sleeve!
-
I made it though! When the surgeon gets here today, I should be released. The nausea yesterday was pretty bad, but much better today. Glad to see you others made it!

I don't have a pre-OP diet until Sunday, when I have to have clear liquids only. Regarding info given to us, my clinic went over everything- every step if pre- op, during surgery, and post-op. They give all of the patients a thick binder with all if the info in black and white for reference. Three more sleeps! Whoot!
-
Mamato2, if you are having surgery on the 13th, you should have this info from your nutritionist. I'd call and ask about it, because there are certain liquids, foods, and suppliments you will need to have at home after surgery. As for myself, the post op diet goes in stages like this: Clear Liquids, strained full liquids, modified full liquids, pureed, modified soft, modified regular, then regular. This is from the day of surgery through the first year post op. Eleven more days! Whoot!

January 13 for me, too! I check in at the hospital at 10:30, surgery at 12:30. Labs done beforehand. at 9:30. No liquid diet required by my surgeon, yay! I'm married with grown kids. Age 60 - Is it okay for an old grandma to join the group? Ht 5'8" start wt 304 current wt 285 goal 180 Do you ladies have your supplies, yet? I've got some Protein shakes, 3 special cups, a smaller spoon, and a few other things, but I need to pick up the sublingual B12, chewable Vitamins, and Calcium with VD.

Paperwork in, little worries
TooFluffy replied to Healthygal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You won't be declined for losing weight during your 6 mos. diet. They know you have trouble reaching goal and maintaining. I would imagine the surgeon will handle your hypercoagulability in the same way it would be handled for any other surgery. Talk to the doctor seeing you through the 6 mon. diet, and I bet he will put your fears to rest. I'm still pre-op, too, and can't wait to activate my "redo" button, too! -
Any other arthritic knee pain peeps out there?
TooFluffy replied to sippigrl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
sippigrl, I am pre-op, and was taken off NSAIDS, too. Like you, I also have arthritic knee pain. I bought some Salonpas spray (not the patch), and didn't really expect it to work, but it does! Give it a try! -
What is best TASTING Protein shake?
TooFluffy replied to Poorehouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like Premeir Protein Vanilla with a dash of cinnamon in it. Tastes like a snickerdoodle cookie. (I read about that on these boards, but can't remember who to credit!) Best price is at Sam's Club. You can also mix sugar-free Jello powder or pudding mixes in it. You might want to try some samples of different brands to see which ones tastes best to you. Good luck! -
Maggie, I was on Meloxicam for pain and inflammation for my back pain and arthritis. That got discontinued, and no more Aleve, either. My only choice for pain and inflammation now is Tylenol. I hope you are allowed to take something more effective than that! ((HUG))

How Did You Find Out About BariatricPal.com?
TooFluffy replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

Mine is I Can See Clearly Now by Johnny Nash. It has served me well for many decades - never fails to lift my spirits.

Did she really just ask me that?
TooFluffy replied to jc2008's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
jc2008, it could be that at her high weight, you don't look "that" big too her. People lose perspective sometimes, when their own weight is very high. Just a thought. -
Kudos to you! You look great!
