I wonder if slow losers have less excess skin issues. That would be a bonus, eh? Molly -

OMG October 2013 Post-ops
DevilBlueDress replied to DevilBlueDress's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My clinic's diet basically says that soft foods are the same list as puréed, but you don't have the whiz them. It also adds whole wheat toast, deli meat, string and shredded cheese and peanut butter. -

I forgot to add that I've also had to buy new underwear. Old ones were too big and I kept getting wedgies. -

Hit 51lbs lost (from the start of my journey in Feb). I was stuck at -49 for almost a week. Overall, things are chugging along, albeit slowly. I've been purging my closet because I'm down 1-2 sizes. One of my local WL buddies gave me 3 garbage bags full of clothes. It included a bra which fit. I was a 46DD, now I'm 42D. Of course that's where I've lost the most inches, much to my DH's disappointment. The bags of clothes also included some size 12 jeans. They look so small! My buddy assured me that I'll get there, too. IDK but these pants are too big for her 7 months post op (sleeve), so I guess she's right. We'll see. Seeing the size 12 also reminded me that when I was younger, I thought I was so fat because I wore a 12. It's funny how your perspective changes over time. Molly -
How To Avoid Ulcers?

Travel After Surgery?
DevilBlueDress replied to Mkmb2006's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't traveled internationally post-op, but we eat out often and I've found that I can usually find menu items that work now that I'm in the "soft food" stage. Things like scallops, Thai Larb, and fish have all worked for me (so far). For the first month post op I was on puréed food. I think it would be much harder to find foods that would work for that stage- although I did eat hummus which you might find fairly easily. Molly -
April 2013 Post-Op Group

You're in Waukesha, right? If so, the weather here in WI can't be helping you, either. It's been so gloomy. :-(. Is there a WLS support group nearby that you could attend? Perhaps that would help lift your spirits? I hope things turn around soon for you! Molly -
I have a desk job. I was back to work 1 week post op (worked from home) and back to the office the following Monday.

The gas pain is from gas trapped around your diaphragm that sends pain signals. From what I understand, GasX doesn't help that kind of gas. The best thing to do is walk around. It can take up to a week for the gas to dissipate.

This Can't Be Right...nearly 1 Month Out And 5 Lbs Lost
DevilBlueDress replied to rach1134's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I started very slowly. I even gained weight between weeks two and three! At my 6 week checkup today today I asked about it. The PA said that it's Fluid retention and fairly common. Over the last week, my weight loss has picked up a bit. Hang in there and measure yourself. You've probably lost inches. Molly -
This is a super fun thread! I just changed mine from MadisonMolly to DevilBlueDress. In junior high, one classmate greeted me (every day), "Good golly, Miss Molly!" At the time, I found it annoying. Now, it makes me smile. Way better than some of my high school nicknames, Hot Tamale, Molly Hatchett, Mol. Hooker name: Worthy Market

I'm 6 weeks out. I haven't been hungry, yet. I need to measure my food and watch the clock to remind myself to eat. I'm the cook in my family and mainly because I'm not hungry I can still cook and not be tempted to eat it. I've gone to restaurants and ordered an appetizer or split the meal with someone else. So far, so good.
