I've loved roller coasters since I was 12. I found that once I weighed over 260 lbs, it was very difficult to sit in them comfortably. I'm 5'6" tall.

How fast did you go through sizes?
DevilBlueDress replied to Wallflower7522's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started at tight 22/24/3x and now fit into 16/18/XL depending on the brand. 5.5 months post op. Goodwill and other thrift stores are wonderful! Molly -
How much weight did you loose, before you could really notice a change in your apperance?
DevilBlueDress replied to takingaleap's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Others noticed something was different around 45-50 lbs lost. I kept getting asked if my I changed my hair color. . Around 70 lbs, I started getting questioned if I've lost a lot of weight. I noticed in a side-by-side comparison photo I made around 50 lbs lost. Molly -
What I love about MyFitnessPal and similar apps is that you can scan items and because it is crowdsourced, most popular online recipes and restaurant menu items are in the database. Molly

Yes, they are eaten cold but on the recipe site the author said you can heat them. I haven't tried that yet. Molly (shivering in Wisconsin) -
OMG October 2013 Post-ops
DevilBlueDress replied to DevilBlueDress's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi Oct gals and guys, I just had my six month check- up a little early at five months. All is well and even though I think I'm losing at a pretty slow rate, I've lost 30% of my excess weight post op so far. Counting from the beginning of my journey a year ago, I've lost 75 lbs so far. I think if I hadn't had the RNY, I probably would have gained this winter. It's been so cold and snowy here in Wisconsin, that it's hard to feel motivated to leave the warm spot by the fireplace. I had a glimmer of hope today that spring might arrive eventually. My car interior was warm from sitting in the sun! That hasn't happened for months. Molly -
A Couple of questions.

Baconville, I eat refrigerator oatmeal almost every day. I shared the recipe with my nut today and he said it is a great way to start my day. You can find all the recipes at theyummylife.com. My favorite is blueberry maple: At night, put the following in a 1 cup container with a lid (I use ziplock snack containers): 1/4 c rolled oats 1/4 c plain Greek yogurt 1 1/2 tsp chia seeds 1/3 c milk Maple syrup to taste Hand full of fresh blueberries Refrigerate overnight. Stir in the morning and enjoy! It has 12g of protein. -Molly -
A Couple of questions.
DevilBlueDress replied to Sunlight61's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had a check-up today and my clinic recommends, starting at around 6 months, to wait up to 90 minutes after eating to resume drinking liquids. I can drink up until I eat and I still need to chew my food 30 times. I can eat about a cup of food at a time at this point. I was told that in the next 6 months and for the rest of my life, it will be up to 1 1/2 cups at a meal. Always Protein first. Molly -
At what point did you start counting your weight loss?
DevilBlueDress replied to JanaAZ's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I count from when I first met with a nutritionist for the 6 month supervised weight loss for insurance. It was then that I started changing how I view food plus I started tracking using MyFitnessPal. Molly -

Thank you! I've been taking Biotin supplements since pre-op. It doesn't seem to help with hair loss for me, but my hair and nails have been growing faster and according to my hairdresser, my hair is easier to style since I've taken biotin. Molly -

Thanks, Angie! I haven't seen the surgeon since 2nd day post-op, but the physician's assistant hasn't been alarmed. Slow and steady wins the race (or at least that's what I tell myself). I've lost 72 lbs since the start of my journey, 42 post- op. I'm content with my pace for the most part. It's way more than I could do on my own! Just wowed by those who have lost more in the same or less amount of time. BTW, I thought that perhaps losing at a slower rate would minimize loose skin issues, but that doesn't seem to be the case (at least with me). :-( Molly Molly -

Wow, I'm amazed at how much some of you have lost post-op! Great job, everyone! I've had to clean my hairbrush daily. Luckily, I've got a lot of hair (albeit fine hair), so it isn't noticeable, yet. I've finally broken through a long stall and started losing again. I added more exercise which I think helps. I have more energy finally, too. This winter in Wisconsin hasn't helped the energy one bit. The weather makes me want to sit by the fireplace most of the time. I had a teaching gig yesterday, so I decided to wear makeup and take some selfies. Here's a side-by-side. Left is July 2013, right is yesterday: -

Angie, Good job on the weight loss and recognizing that your recent behavior could derail your new habits. Do you log your food - every bite? I use MyFitnessPal (DevilBlueDress) and have some friends on there that are watching me closely. It really helps me with accountability. BTW, I'm a little jealous that you've reached onederland. Since surgery on 10/2, I've lost 42 lbs (72 total since last March). Slow and steady but still 16 away from onederland. Molly -

So folks, we're 4 months post-op! I've started to notice a funny trend. When I've run into people who haven't seen me since pre-op days and who don't know that I had WLS, they all comment on my hair! "Is that a new color or style, Molly? You look great!" It's happened about 6 times in the last month. I just smile and say thank you. -
