I had the restriction of no lifting over 10 lbs for a month, along with no sweeping, mopping or vacuuming. And then there is the no heavy lifting and no sit-ups for 3 months.

Did you keep a "before" outfit?
TonyaA replied to Catherine707's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did not save any of my larger sizes, I needed the room in my closet to put my smaller sizes. I'm only 6 weeks out, but have lost enough to start needing smaller sizes. I have bagged up the larger sizes and will be donating them soon. I found a few pairs of capris that I bought on sale a couple of years ago that I had packed away, but they fit for now. I live in the south, so I have been shopping the clearance racks for some good buys to get me through my current need, knowing that I will be shopping again in the spring for my next smaller sizes. I even bought a few things that were great bargains to pack up for my future use! -
Mine were all called in ahead of time so that I would have them when I got home as well. I had liquid lortab for pain, carafate liquid and (ugh) lovenox injections to prevent blood clots. My surgeon took me off my diabetes meds and cholesterol med when I left the hospital. I'm about 6 weeks post op and take no meds, just my daily multivitamin and calcium.

Good Luck to all of you on your new journey/chapter in life! Prayers to all for a pain-free recovery!! -
Everyone reacts differently to surgeries. I am 6 weeks out and had no pain at all other than the gas pains and walking does help that tremendously. I'm not a fan of needles or ivs either, but I honestly do not even remember being rolled out of the pre-op area. I too had to do the lovenox shots, I found that the lower you do them, the less they hurt. I am thinking its because your stomach is still a bit numb from the surgery. Only you can make up your mind what is best for you. My only regret is that I waited to have my sleeve done. I am very happy with it. Good luck no matter what you decide!

It is a major lifestyle change and you have to take small steps and appreciate when you hit the goal. My surgery was July 24th, so I am six weeks out. Most days I have no problem getting my protein in mostly because I still like the shakes and it counts towards my daily fluids. Ah, the fluids, I still struggle to get my 64 ounces in per day. I am doing good to get 50 down per day. As far as exercise, I walk around my small rural town when the humidity isn't real high. I have begun using my Wii Fit a couple of times a week. I have a goal of October 1st to return to the gym so I can start doing weight training and toning. I have lost 36 lbs so far and have learned to eat slower and to chew more. I bought my quick snacks from Bariatric Choice online. A few of the items I have chosen are over the guidelines that my doctor/nutritionist set, but I am able to keep my calories under 700 most days and my protein over 65.

I had one, was put in while under anesthesia and was taken out the next morning, just in time for me to start my walking trips to the restroom and down the hall.

My dr prescribed liquid Lortab, but I was very fortunate and had no pain, so I still have a full bottle!

Sleeved 7/24, at my one week post op dr appt I was down 17 lbs from my pre op appt on 7/17. So that was 17 lbs in two weeks time. I have weighed myself once and my scales say I've gained 2 lbs. I've decided not to weigh myself again until I go back to my dr in Nov, that way I'm consistent in the scale. Although I don't feel like I'm losing, my clothes show me that I am. Congrats to us all!! -
Greetings B'ham Sleevers! I had my surgery on July 24th at St. Vincent's East and Dr. Schmitt was my surgeon. He and his staff are great! I had minimal pain after surgery, haven't even popped the top on the liquid pain meds! I took a week off work to recover and just finished my first week back at work. Overall my experience has been very positive. I am just now getting my 64 oz of fluids in daily. I have bought some high Protein products from Bariatric Choice which has helped me get my daily protein in. I would like to meet other Sleevers from the area. I am planning to attend the support group meetings that are held monthly at St. VIncent's East.

I had my first post op dr appt today. I got my staples out and learned that I am down 17 lbs in the past two weeks! Yea me!! I also now know that my scales weigh me 5 lbs lighter than my dr's scales. Good to know, but I plan to only weigh once a week.

I have eight staples with five incisions. Each dr does it different!

I was sleeved on July 24. I had no pain other than the gas pains. Per my doctors instructions, I started my full liquid diet today. My only complaint is that I have had diarrhea ever since my surgery. I do my one week follow up and get my staples out on Thursday. I am not highly concerned about my BMs other than I am still pushing to get 48 oz of fluids a day. Congratulations and good luck to all!!

July sleevers! Are we ready!
TonyaA replied to shannyd4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is July 24th, I've been doing my liquid diet for over a week and I think I have everything ready in the house for my post op recovery. I do have to pick up some more broth when I pick up the rest of my post-op meds tomorrow night from the pharmacy. I am excited, nervous, anxious, but mostly ready to become a heathier me!! Good luck to everyone this week!! -
Just approved and now meeting with the surgeon, what happens there?
TonyaA replied to jordan1079's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first visit with the surgeon was a basic consultation visit. We talked about my medical history, which surgery I was wanting to have (band, bypass or sleeve) and family history. -

Thank you! I started my pre-op full liquid diet yesterday and can't believe I survived!! LOL I had been cutting back gradually over the past couple of weeks just so it would not be a complete shock to my body. I never realized how satisfying a cup of warm broth could be! I had no problem getting my 64 ounces consumed throughout the day. Good luck with your pre-admit testing tomorrow! -
