    Another day..

I hope your week gets better! I can relate with the pains at work, I have a needy boyfriend that was laid off almost two years ago and has NOT even looked for a job. I've told him several times that I am ready to cut my loses and move on. He thinks I over react on everything or it's hormonal. He just doesn't realize he isn't really helping me at all. I hope your daughter listens to you. Kids nowadays just do not realize how crazy the world is...even in our own backyards.
  2. I think a lot of people have second thoughts, it's normal, having WLS is a huge personal decision. Some are fortunate to have an amazing support system, others come here and we give you all the support and help we can based on our own experiences. Honestly, I tried the six month doctor supervised diet three or four times before I finally said enough is enough. I have got to do this for me, I was tired of being tired, overweight and sitting on the sideline of my life. I had my surgery on July 24, 2013 and the morning after, I still questioned "what the heck have I done?!" Fast forward to today, two months later and WOW!! I'm 46 lbs lighter, my clothes are 1-2 sizes smaller, I'm off all my meds (I WAS a diabetic) and I feel better than I have in a long time. I have no regrets, except that I didn't do it sooner! I have had NO complications, didn't take the first drop of pain meds post surgery and love to brag about my accomplishments since surgery. As long as you listen to your doctor and nutritionist, you will do fine. I wish you the best!
  3. I was fortunate that both of my bosses were totally on board with my decision and have been so supportive. One of my bosses is 97 and now that I've lost 45 lbs, he keeps asking how much more I plan to lose! Bless his heart, he has no idea that I'm only a third of the way to my goal! I didn't tell my HR person since I used vacation days for the 8 days I was off. My other boss did tell her and since she had family members who have had the bypass, she thought she knew everything. Overall, it's been a very positive experience for me with lots of support and encouragement. Good luck to all!

    Thinking of breast lift

At my support group meeting on Saturday, our guest speaker was a plastic surgeon. It was very informative, he said it costs about $5-7,000 for a breast lift.

    Bruised Belly Button

Try Roamans.com, womanwithin.com or Catherines.com. All three of them carry larger sizes.

    2 months: progress so far

    Congrats and way to go!!
  9. I'm 8 weeks post op and over the past couple of weeks I have developed bowel issues with my chocolate protein shakes that I drink on the way to work. I can drink the vanilla and cookies n creme with no issues. Some days I think my sleeve is just being picky.

    No rant, just rave!

Tomorrow, I will be attending my monthly support group meeting for Bariatric patients. They always have lots of information, sample proteins, patient testimonials and have guest speakers. It is suppose to be raining here tomorrow, we need it though, it's been rather dry here the past few weeks. I am making stew tomorrow and will be grilling out on Sunday.
  11. I found VST via yahoo while I was researching the sleeve procedure.
  12. Sleeve of steel here too! I do my best to behave, but occasionally I will "give it a try and see what happens"!! I've only thrown up once, but I think it was do to excessive grease and only a couple of times have I had the overfull filling, which generally subsides after a couple of burps. I was bad today... I had to try some banana pudding, I definitely ate more than I should have, but no issues.
  13. Besides the obvious (being overly fluffy), I had diabetes, high cholesterol, my knees and feet bother me. I'm two months post op and I'm off all my meds, my knees and my feet do not bother me near as much. All this has happened with the loss of just 40 lbs! Oh and now, I get to buy cute SMALLER clothes!!

Something interesting about all the profile pics

My picture is from one month post op (I'm now 2 months) and I'm knocking on 44's door in a few weeks, BUT most new people that I meet think I'm at least 10 years younger and now that I'm slimming down, I feel 10 years younger!!

    A First...

I bought the Zumba for my Wii, I've tried it a few times. I've been using my Wii Fit disc for my workouts on the nights that I don't go walking.

    The skinny on $$$

I have not received any bills and I'm 8 weeks post op today! My insurance is BC/BS.
  17. Great question, I was wondering if warming it up made it less effective.

    44yrs sleeved june 24.

Hello fellow 40-somethings! I'm 43 and was sleeved on July 24th. I have lost about 40 lbs so far and even though I can get my proteins in, I do still struggle to get my 64 oz of fluids in daily. I do exercise about 3-5 days a week by either walking or using my Wii Fit.

Guess what? Shingles and surgery don't mix

I'm sorry you had to go through that! I've had shingles once, on the back of my head and that was enough for me! Congrats on the weight loss and best wishes on your recovery!!
