  1. I am considering Dr. Nicholson as my surgeon to do my band to sleeve revision. I'm a self-pay patient from out of state. I've heard good things and he would be an alternative to going out of the country. I have a specific period of time that I would be able to get surgery since I'm a teacher. I could either do it during this summer, during Christmas break, or next summer. I really don't want to wait until next summer but I'm thinking that this summer might be unrealistic. I've asked his coordinator when they are scheduling patients but she hasn't answered me. I was wondering how quickly they were able to schedule your surgery. I was also wondering what you had to before surgery if you did not go through insurance. Thanks!

    july 2013 sleevers

July 27th . Band to sleeve revision. I am going to Mexico. Would anyone consider doing a July Sleevers Facebook group? It would probably help to keep in touch with people who are sleeved around the same time.

    Looking for support...

I haven't been sleeved yet, but I did get the band a year and a half ago. I was scared to stay in the hospital too in a strange bed and not having my normal things. I actually ended up liking it. I had my happy medicine (haha) and I was well taken care of. It was easy to sleep because of the pain medicine. They should be able to give you something for sleep if you can't. You might want to take your own pillow in a pillowcase other than white (so it doesn't get tossed in with the hospital laundry) to help you. Good luck!
  5. Thanks for that information! How long was your preop diet with Dr. Nick?

    Dr. Aceves, Mexicali, and Me!

Congratulations on getting your sleeve! I am interested in getting a band to sleeve revision and I am considering this surgeon. I really enjoyed hearing about your experience. When I got my band done here in PA, my surgeon checked on me once when I was out of it (according to my husband) and it took forever to get a nurse's attention. So it is wonderful to hear they are so attentive! I have a question for you about pain medicine after surgery. When I got my band done, I was able to control the pain level with a machine. I didn't have to wait for a nurse to give me that medicine. How did they administer pain meds to you? Was it self controlled, did you have to flag down a nurse, and if so, were you in a lot of pain waiting? I'm scared about that. Thanks!
