Please help: how to not feel like a failure?
Tiny One replied to Nerva Harrison's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
WLS surgery is a great tool if you allow it to be. I did the yo yo diet thing and gained more than I would lose. Over the past years, I knew I was overweight. But never thought I was in the morbid obesity category. At the end of my yearly routine exams, my doctor gave me a pamphlet on morbid obesity. He did that 3 years in a row. What a rude awakening. I was in denial for about 3 years until the doctor threatened to medicate me for HPB, high cholesterol & diabetes. I woke up real fast and embraced the idea that this tool could really help me get & stay healthy. Glad I embraced it. I've never been or felt healthier. No medications, all levels are normal, no more back/joint pain, and sleep apnea has disappeared. Best thing I've ever done for myself. My only regret was not doing it sooner. But maybe I wasn't ready. But I love my VSG, it's my new best friend. Good luck with your decision. -
7 weeks post op and a gain :(

Get more fluids in & try some cardio. That worked for me. Good luck & hang in there. -
2 weeks post op....... weight gain?
Tiny One replied to joyrokk5's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
At 2 weeks, I wouldn't worry, it's still very new. Your body still has a lot of that gas & junk that they pumped in you for the surgery. Don't worry. Stick to your plan & you'll be pleasantly surprised. I noticed that its normal for me that my weight fluctuates in any given week. I would weigh myself on Mondays & notice 1or 2 lbs gained which would worry me, but by Thursday I've lost them. So don't worry. Stick to your plan & it will work out. Good luck!!!! -
I threw up in my sleep :(

That's the acid reflux. When you eat or drink anything, wait a couple of hours before you lie down. -
I gave it up 2 months pre-op. None for 6 mons post-op & then got approval to do 1 cup. So i started out mixing half decaf w half reg until I could tolerate it. Now I do 1 reg cup daily with no problem.

Yes, this could be your normal. We all lose somewhat differently. Just stay on track & you'll be pleasantly surprised. I lost an average of 12 lbs per month. Most dropped rapidly in first 6 months, then it slowed down for 2 month but later the weight loss picked up again. I met my goal in 1 year. So stay with it & Good Luck!!!!

Relationships after the sleeve. Are you happy and in it to win it? Are you ready to leave/divorce your tormentor?
Tiny One replied to buplee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Been married going on 20 years. We both were pretty skinny when we met. We've had a good relationship pre- VSG, and it's even better now. Husband has been supportive from the beginning as he knew I needed to do something to get healthy. Things couldn't be better & we are both in it to win it. -
Problem with Nosy Co-Worker! Need Advice!
Tiny One replied to livvsmum's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only person that knows at work us my HR rep. I had one lady that seemed to be a bit obsessive with my weight loss. Every conversation we had always turned the focus on my weight loss. I tried to tell her politely a few times, but it didn't work. The last time, 4 months ago, I told her she was getting out of hand, she was being offensive & it must stop. Can you believe her feelings were hurt & she's not said another word to me since? -

Coffee Question.,,
Tiny One replied to DirtyHarriett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 6 mons post op, my doc told me if I needed the caffeine, do half reg & half decaf. So, I've been doing that for the last 6 mons and it satisfies me. -
It's been a year on nov 7. One glass of wine gets me tipsy now. Before the sleeve, it would take 3 glasses. I also Tried a shot of tequila once & was soooo done, I had a bad dream. Same thing happened when I tried drinking Hennessy with lemon. I just can't do the strong stuff anymore & I'm ok with that.

Nice, congrats!!!

Last appt. before getting Surgery date!
Tiny One replied to TSB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op diet was 10 says. Afterwards, the post op duet stages lasted 5 weeks. Took my doctor less than a week to get approval. There was some pain, but it was tolerable. After my 4th or 5th day, I needed no more pain meds. It will be 1 year tomorrow & I have no regrets. You'll do well just follow your doctors rules. Good luck! -
Nice transformation. I'm approaching a year on nov 7. Time does fly.

It will pass. Just follow your doctors guidelines & the lbs will start dropping like crazy. It's still early for you & your body still has some of that junk that they pumped in you for the surgery. stay patient & just watch what happens. Good luck!!! -
Good luck to all of you nov 4thers. Can't wait to see you on the losers bench.

Tiny One replied to SleeveNZ's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Nice, girl go on & buy those shorts. You can definitely pull them off! Own & display that new body. I'll be 1 year post op on 11/7 & still can't believe some of the things I can wear now. Great job!!!! Keep up the good work!!!! -
I was excited & fearful, but knew I wanted to be thinner & healthier. So glad I got sleeved. Been a very positive journey for me. Nov 7 will be 1 year post op & I'm down 72 lbs& loving it. Follow your doctors rules & you'll do well.

Linda, you are so right. I often say I'm glad I didn't stumble upon this forum until after my surgery. While the positive posts would've helped, I'm sure the negative posts would've scare me too. It will be 1 yr since my sleeve & I've had nothing but positive experiences. So Yoly, trust your doctors, follow their guidelines & you'll do well. Good luck, sending prayers & positivity your way!!!!!

Thanksgiving.. What to eat.?
Tiny One replied to meaganchuckran's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved last year on 11/7 and was on puréed food by Thanksgiving. I had turkey puréed with a little gravy. THIS time, it will be over a year & I'm SO looking forward to a taste of all of my favorites. -
When I went to my last nutritional class before the surgery, I panicked thinking "am I gonna be able to follow the different food phases post op." But I took it one day at a time and followed the post op rules to the t. I've had no complications at all & next week will be a year & I'm soooooo glad for my sleeve.. So I know you can do this.

Yes, you got this. Own it & you'll do well. Good luck.
