I still struggle with....(fill in the blanks)
blash67 replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Craving salty snacks. I had so hoped that my tastebuds would change post-op and I would hate things like popcorn and chips. Nope. -

The Uncomfortable Truth....
blash67 replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My childhood expains how I got started on the road to overeating, with some deeply ingrained habits. But to me, it doesn't explain why I was not able to change, despite a depth of food and nutrition and exercise and knowledge that could earn me a PhD. I long ago made peace with childhood issues. What I need now is to attend to today's issues, and also behavior management techniques to get me and keep me on track. -

Multi-vit that doesnt make you puke?
blash67 replied to Samijo4391's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to always throw up vitamins. I have no problem with nutrametrix multi powder. I also use their calcium powder - mix them and take them at the same time. Highly absorbable isotonic vitamin. Recommended by my NUT. -

I am in for 30 hours of exercise in November! I will have done 8 hours this week if I go to my yoga class today. Did 7 hrs last week. That about doubles where I was at. I want to keep up the pace I recently ramped up to! Loving it! Zumba, Gravity, Latin Heat, Yoga, and Spinning!

Catheter or no? Days in hospital?
blash67 replied to suchsh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Catheter, but I barely even remember it, that's how quick and uneventful it was. -
Just push yourself to go a few times and you will get over it. I put off joining a gym for years for the same reasons. I got over it within a few weeks. It helps to do the stuff you find to be fun. I am personally much happier doing Zumba than the treadmill etc. group classes will force you to meet people etc.

Same. Much easier time with restaurant eggs.

Some foods nauseate me now, including eggs. I think it's just some proteins are tough to digest. It helps me limit my portions. Chicken and shrimp and fish can all nauseate me too. Not all the time, but often enough ...

When it comes to weight loss, trends matter
blash67 replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To me, the biggest perk of the surgery is that I finally can relax and not obsess and be successful. I might lose slower because I am not obsessing, but it is just such a psychological relief. I have read enough comments from the vets to know that I will probably need to be more diligent when I am further out. I am making an effort to become active enough that hopefully that will mitigate things to some extent. -
I was a big coffee drinker like you, and I definitely thought twice about the surgery just for this reason alone! I went off caffeine for 2 pregnancies, but that was years ago --- and I was younger and had more energy then! I decided to detox from caffeine about 2 weeks before my pre-op diet, and it was much easier than I expected. I dosed myself with aleve round the clock for 3 days and stayed well hyrdrated. No pain at all. I do think I dulled mentally for a couple of months, but I was dealing with the surgery and all so who knows why. I do think I will eventually return to one cup a day.

5'3" 46 yo HW - 273 SW - 265 CW - 228 45# down 26/28 and just bought a size 20 top - yay! But mostly I am a 22/2x now. Very sedentary to I just went to the gym 6 days straight! My routine is - M - Gravity and Zumba, T - Zumba; W - Gravity and 30 min treadmill; Th - Zumba, Fri - off, Sat and Sun - 35 min circuit, 20 min treadmill, 10 rowing, 10 crossramp I feel great mental/psychological relief to not be able to eat as much. I still see some of my overeating/junk food tendencies rise up. I seem to eat a little bit of stuff I shouldn't daily. I think I am at about 1000 calories a day, but I should be at 800. I successfully transitioned off of the PPI I went on after surgery. I had about a week of struggle with acid and it was causing me to reach for carbs to absorb. But, my stomach finally settled and I am glad I gave it some time instead of going back on PPI. -
My NUT recommends aloe juice, but I haven't tried it yet. Been struggling through. Eating a serving of dry roasted edamame on most days helps me.

What Was Your Starting Weight?
blash67 replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Starting weight 273. Day of surgery 7/10 - 265. Current weight 230. -
I am 2 months out and trying to go without a PPI as of tomorrow. Wish me luck. I did not have reflux pre-op, but had extra stomach acid post-op. I hope I don't need to stay on one. But I do know that the stomach acid mimics hunger and I look for carbs to absorb ...
