I use to work at a company that didn't distinguish between sick leave and time off. Basically you were allocated some much time off during the year and how you took it was up to you. But for those that do have sick leave and are required to have a doctors note to use it for any extended amount of time I wanted to share something. You are under no obligation to disclose what you are seeing a doctor for or the medical reason you need the time off to your employer. You're doctor simple needs to write a letter/note stating you will not be able to work until whatever date he deems necessary.

Thanks for the insight!

Congrats to you and everyone in your group!

I have the same insurance. From what I have heard from other people with our plan they normally get approved within two or three days of the paperwork being submitted. My paperwork is going forward on the 1st of Oct. Please update and let me know how long your approval process takes.

Anticipating my surgery for Oct. Will have it at St Thomas of midtown. -
Love Zumba! Congrats on doing the work out! My fav classes are ones they do on a Friday night for two hours. At my gym they turn the lights off and give it a night club feel. It's a blast! Have fun!

Way to go! Already paying off! -
I generally only eat home made soups. So I have a question. When we are told we can have cream based soups, what do they mean. Is it Campbell's Cream of something? Can I not just take homemade cream based soups and blend it? Thoughts?

I just got a bullet blender and love it. Perfect for smoothies and soups. Smaller size and not a pain to clean like the larger/traditional blenders.

Praying for you on a successful surgery and a speedy recovery!

So I have been reading a few threads about going poop...constipation or other issues going to the bathroom. I have different digestive issues. My PCP put me on fiber pills which work great to address my issues. Here is my question. Are we able to take fiber pills or fibers powder after surgery? It works so well for me now that I would hate to change things up post op.

So today I was feeling pretty motivated. I called up Lane Bryant, cancelled my credit card and paid off my balance. When they asked me why, I responded with "I never intend to let one store define my personal style again." Good bye Lane Bryant! Can't wait for surgery!

I am being monitored for a possible bi polar II diagnosis. But I do have PTSD with a mood disorder, anxiety and depression. I am not on meds; personal choice since none of this is creating significant difficulty for me in my daily life. I am glad you started this thread because I am curious to know how my mental health might change with surgery.

Pictures of my hairloss 18 weeks after surgery
Brighteyes replied to Sleevestriss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through this last year when I had to have emergency surgery. For several months my hair was falling out just like yours, handfuls at a time. A year post op from that emergency surgery I am happy to say it did stop and my hair is growing back. I know it's shocking while it happens, but it gets better. -
Insanity Program...18 days post surgery, is it to soon?
Brighteyes replied to J.Diesel's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Congrats on having the motivation to want to bust into something like Insanity. But I agree with the previous commenters. It's to early. Talk to your doc and find out what the recommendations are. Maybe find a good trainer who can build you up slowly. Insanity does come with a basic fitness level requirement before starting. Work up to being able to do that fitness requirement so that when you are cleared to workout at that intensity you'll be able to. Best of luck to you! -
4 months out and falling off wagon
Brighteyes replied to mamamareli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still pre op, but have been seeing a therapist for the last several months for this exact reason -self sabotage. I would lose weight and then self sabotage. I knew WLS wasn't going to change the behavior. I am not saying it won't be a struggle after surgery, but I feel much more prepared and have some more tools to help with the emotional side of things. Find a therapist you really connect with. Today is always a new day and an opportunity to do things differently. Wish you all the best and hope you are able to find a balance between enjoying foods and weight loss. -

Goodbye Lane Bryant

As a general rule I don't shop at Wal-Mart. I use to love Target. Can't wait to loose enough weight to fit back into their cloths. -

Okay, so call me dumb...but I don't even have a clue as to why that would be important. Maybe I just naturally trust my surgeons ability that I didn't really go in there with any questions. Now I am second guessing myself.

Ditto on your safety being paramount. If your surgery is postponed count it as a blessing. With as unpredictable as flash flooding can be it would almost be better to wait till things calm down. That way if you have a complication you will have easy access to the hospital. Praying for your safety and all those affected.

Best and worst "compliments"
Brighteyes replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Best compliment I have gotten so far was from a Soldier I work with. I was having to explain a project to him that he was going to be responsible for because I am going to be out for surgery. He asked why I was going to be gone so long so I gave him an honest answer. His reply was something to the effect of "I am so happy for you. We are totally behind you." What I found out later was that some of the guys in the office have been talking about my weight and what they could do to help me. They have been concerned about my health. I still get choked up thinking about it. -
So help me out...when talking about bougie...is this the tube inserted into your stomach?
