How Soon Did They Make You Walk In The Hospital?
Brighteyes replied to HotMessPrincess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup. I had one. They put it in after I was knocked out for surgery. So it wasn't a big deal. Taking it out I had some slight pressure. But seriously, it wasn't anything to be nervous about. -
What Do You Look Forward To?
Brighteyes replied to wildlyme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sue I had to give up riding professionally cause I just couldn't get through a full day of competing. Can't wait for this weight to continue to come off so I can get back at it. It's so crazy how my whole balance in the saddle has changed. -

Bless you Gamergirl! I just did what you suggested and I am actually excited to get through this last week of puréed foods! -
Craving Pizza? Low Carb Flatout Pizza
Brighteyes replied to gamergirl's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I will take you up on that. I live in the south and all the food recipes from my NUT totally reflect that. I am Italian and I don't eat some over processed cheese spread....but ricotta is good any day! -
Help Liquid Diet For 2 Weeks...
Brighteyes replied to linda305's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, there is no fun way to do the liquids for two weeks. It's sucks and you might need to see a therapist from the lasting emotional scars it leaves you. J/k But seriously it isn't easy. You just have to keep in mind what your end goal is, accept that the liquid phase will not be fun, and power your way through it. The docs give us the pre-op diet for a reason so it's our responsibility to do what is asked. The third day was the hardest for me. I got really nasty towards people and became a bit of a hermit. It was the only way I survived. -

Got To Get My Head In The Game!
Brighteyes replied to ArcusX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there. Getting approved for my surgery was a bit of a pain, in-between being laid off, and all the stress that was going on at the time. But I knew that this surgery was what I needed and I fought for it. I know my insurance coordinator at the surgical center thought I was a real pain in the butt, but I was unapologetic in getting things approved and done. Stay at it! You already know what it takes to drop some extra weight in advance so take the time to make those changes and fight for this! A year from now you'll be happy you did! -
How Soon Did They Make You Walk In The Hospital?
Brighteyes replied to HotMessPrincess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They didn't make me walk. But I was required to walk twice before they would take the cath out. When they got me to my room I laid down and slept for a couple hours. When I woke up I decided to walk around for 30 mins. I came back to my room, slept for two hours, munched on some ice chips and walked again for 30 mins. I found that after walking the first time that it made a big difference in the level of gas pain I had. So it encouraged me to walk a lot and often inbetween me sleeping. -
Does anyone notice that they have more restriction in the morning compared to the evening? I seems that after 2pm I can eat more and get more fluids in.

More Restriction In The Am
Brighteyes replied to Brighteyes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is actually a good idea....minus the bacon cause I don't like pork in general... -

More Restriction In The Am
Brighteyes replied to Brighteyes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I thought that maybe my sleeve just needed to be woken up some, so I drank tea yesterday morning (idk why that was logical) but it didn't work. My fav meal has always been breakfast. Just odd -
Am I Really Ready For Gastric Sleeve.. ?
Brighteyes replied to Carlotta1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Once surgery is done you will find it is fairly easy to stay on the plan. Prior to surgery I made a few goals for myself. They followed the lifestyle changes my doc wanted me to make post op. I stopped all caffeine, ate protein with every meal, stopped drinking with my meals, etc. -
If you don't fly often you have a tendency to get a higher security check.

It's so crazy how food has changed over the years! I love anything vintage; particularly the 50s style of things. Love the dress and you look fantastic!

Confused On Protein Consumption/meal Overview: Lot's Of Questions For Pros :)
Brighteyes replied to Misti M's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would mention that my surgeon made it clear to me that his priority for me during the first six weeks is hydration. So it sounds like you are meeting that goal, which is great. Adding protein shakes, as previously suggested, to include the unflavored kind to your normal food will help meet those protein goals. Sounds like you are moving in the right direction. -
High Protein, Low Carb Recipe Site
Brighteyes replied to gamergirl's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Gamergirl - I check out your blog frequently and love it when you share your recipes! I am such a foodie at heart so it warms my soul to see someone have such an appreciation for good food that fits into our lifestyle. -
How Long Did You Think About It Before You Decided?
Brighteyes replied to mimiski's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It happened after my sweet nephew asked me if the reason I couldn't jump on the trampoline was because I was fat. The very next day I called the hospital I knew I wanted WLS at and scheduled myself for an orientation. My surgeon was the one the convinced me the sleeve was the best choice. I knew I could cancel anytime, so I took the next couple months while meeting my insurance requirements to think it over. -
Keeping Skin Moisturized?
Brighteyes replied to gastricsleever's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I generally use it at night. I find that in the summer it makes my skin a little slick for about 15 mins, but in the fall and winter I don't have that problem. -
For me it's always a chore getting there...but afterwards I am Superwoman for at least 30 mins before I want to take a nap. So different than before surgery. Oh well. It pays off in the end....now if I could only skip over another week of puréed foods and chew something solid I would be happy!

What Do You Look Forward To?
Brighteyes replied to wildlyme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Way to go Sissy! I will be happy when I am off puréed foods! And I know I will feel better when I am getting all my protein in -
Besides the other things I mentioned, be sure to listen to your body and underestimate what you can do. My first day back I tried to push myself to hard and it backfired. It's nice having a couple fellow cross fitters on here.

Fiddleman - my workouts are seriously modified and they take me twice as long to do because I get tired. I could go harder on the weights, but I keep it light only so I can get through the whole workout. Doctor is on board with this and very excited for me. I believe the only reason I am even up to doing these workouts is because I worked out really hard for two months prior to surgery. I truly think that is the reason I was able to rebound quickly. My recovery has been remarkably un eventful. I joke with my surgeon if it wasn't for the fact that I feel the restriction and he took pics of my new sleeve I would question if he really ever did the surgery.

Good to know. I will certainly put that on my list :-)
