HAHAHAHAHAH!! Great idea! Too bad my incisions haven't healed yet

In my research it seems to be typically month two to month six. Here is what I have found to prevent: - Drink tons of Water - Get in all Protein every day - Use sulfate free shampoos and conditioners - Take Vitamins especially Biotin and Zinc - Rub Castor Oil and/or Coconut Oil on your scalp nightly - Consume healthy fats (avocados, olive oil, etc) - Rogaine - Wait it out, it can grow back Hope this helps!

How much biotin to take post-op?
AnnaLV replied to SleeveFox's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
B vitamins including Biotin are water soluble, so if you have a healthy kidney you will just pee out anything your body doesn't need -
YES! Tons of patience. I'm guessing we will get used to it. I have been taking the first half hour of the day to make sure I get all of my meds and supplements in. Yesterday wasn't great and I didn't get much in, but I've been taking it much slower today and I seem to be doing a lot better. Slow and steady! We will get there :-D

I usually deduct dietary fiber from carbs to get the net carbs. We are going to have a lot of issues getting enough dietary fiber with our sleeves, so I have no problem with healthy carbs :-)

Ok guys, there are about a gazillion Protein bars on the market, and let's be realistic, the majority are just glorified candy bars. So this begs the question, has anyone found some exceptional protein bars for a meal replacement on the go that they would like to share? What is the best taste/protein content/lowest calorie/and most natural ingredients that you have tried? Also, has anyone tried to make their own yet? I'm thinking about playing around with some recipes and seeing what I can come up with :-)

Oh wow! It's great to see other people that are doing this for the same reasons that I am. I was diagnosed with spinal arthritis two years ago and the chronic pain has made it very difficult to live my life as I want to. I know that being a hundred pounds over weight has certainly made a difference. I just had my surgery, so I can't give you any guarantees, but I sincerely feel that the reduced burden on my spine will make a huge difference in my chronic pain. Best of luck!! Also, I had a personal trainer that gave me some excellent exercises to build up your supporting back muscles. Let me know if you would like some ideas.

I am such an over achiever I swear I always feel like the rules don't apply to me hahahah. You know, because I'm "special"... Now I just need my cape and helmet. Ok, ok, slow down. No gulping. Sip sip sip. I can do this. Even if I do have the patience of a gnat. Do gnats have patience?

Hey fellow sleevers! I just had my surgery on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013. So I am three days out from surgery. I did amazingly well in the hospital. I was up and walking with no problems right away. I ate all of my Jello and broth, and drank tons of Water no problems. Well, it's day three, I've been home since Thursday and I am having some issues. I can't seem to stomach anything at all except water. I have been dumping everything else I take in. I started getting nauseated this afternoon and it hasn't gone away. Also, I've been having this really weird constriction of my diaphragm, almost like hiccups, but not quite the same. Oddly I feel something that kinda seems like hunger too. I guess it could just be a bad day, but I am curious if anyone else has dealt with these symptoms in the first few days post surgery. What should I be expecting over the next few days? It's not awful, it's just not expected and a bit uncomfortable. Any advice is much appreciated. Oh, and I'm curious how long it took for everyone to have their stomach swelling go away and start losing weight? I'm bored and sick of TV already, so my mind is working overtime :-p On the positive side though I've come up with some awesome recipes to try out and share. Thanks guys!!

Thanks! A co-worker who had the surgery said the same thing. Looks like I'm making tea today :-) I do have an unnatural obsession with tea... So this could be fun!

Does anyone know where I can buy Strawberry flavored premier Protein?
AnnaLV replied to oklahomagirl's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You can mix it thin or thick. I've found that it just mixes so much more smoothly than some of the others. I like to mix my powders with Unsweetened Coconut Almond milk and a bit of Water. Check out Syntha-6 on Amazon too, all of the flavored are amazing and strawberry seems to be the favorite with the highest votes. -

I got strawberry flavored Syntha-6 on Amazon. I tried a bunch of different Protein powders pre surgery and so far Syntha 6 is my favorite. It's good mixed with Trop 50 orange juice too :-)
