I have lost weight and my pants still fit the same
LoryLosesXS replied to beauty29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said we lose in our legs and upper body first. I'm noticing just that. The back of my legs in my pants are loser. My hips too, just the waste where the buttons are....not enough for me. I keep telling myself....it will come. :-). Stay positive! -

List of Bariatric Nutritional companies offering Free Samples!
LoryLosesXS replied to TapSnap's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I was pre-diabetic. I focused on Protein, veggies, no carbs. I did one Protein shake for Breakfast. I lost 23 lbs before surgery by just doing that. Carbs are like crack cocaine to an addict. Lol -
I agree completely with Jersey girl. What you want to ensure you do is know your companies policies in how everyone should be treated and be that. If she is hostile and you are fearful if her......well that's a whole if fervent ball game. HR is your friend in that case. Using the the words "unprofessional" is how you get your point across to her without accusing her. Our egos are powerful and want to take over. You've done good! Stay calm, cool, collected, and use your HR policy book to your advantage if need be. No one ah nod ever have to work in a demeaning environment. Best to you!

I stumbled upon it in Walmart of all places. There was PB2 with chocolate too. Anyway....For me I have a hard time with the sweetness of all Protein shakes, so I came up with my own through reading all there's comments. . unjury Unflavored Protein powder, PB2 2 Tbls, 2 Tsp of Unsweetened Cocoa, milk (I use soy due to being lactose intolerant), and Stevia added for the sweetness I like. I sometimes add a few ice cubes. That sucker packs a whopping 43gs of protein and 275 in calories and it's super yummy!!! I think it's a great Meal Replacement, but I've had so many I'm cool on it right now. I'm only 2 weeks out of surgery and grateful to chew on something. :-)

Pain Level after Surgery
LoryLosesXS replied to sleeve 101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 days less than 2 weeks out from surgery. I stopped pain meds yesterday afternoon. I had some radiating pains in my gut. It's gone now and I feel good. Adapting to my tummy and trying to be a creative cook to get protein in. I can't wait to make healthy high protein foods. He will be just fine. -
Anyone wishing they would have had gastric bypass instead of sleeve?
LoryLosesXS replied to kvdme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No way. I've known people with the bypass that are overweight now. This is only a tool for us to get a huge kick start to a healthy hopefully drug free life. -

I appreciated the compliment. I'm nervous myself too. I've been warned to get in enough Protein, so that's my daily goal along with the caloric intake. :-). What I just decided to do as of now is keep a visual of what I want my hair to look like, stay like, and look at it daily. Retrain my mind to think only positive in this avenue as I have done in so many others. We are what we think about....thoughts are powerful...this I know.......so....I'm going with that. :-). Bet to all!!!

Great job! Enjoy this great feeling. Tell those sabotaging thoughts to take a hike. You're on a journey of great health!!! :-) -
I'm thinkin like all vitamins it only will work if it's good quality, long term, the large amounts they recommend. I wish you the best! Everything my Wellness doc says. S Protein intake should be from 90 to 110 grams for women daily. I'm working my way up that way. I wish you the best!!!

Oh no so sorry! My bariatric support group nurse said that our hair will grow back. I've gone through phases where I lost a lot of hair due to extreme stress. I don't have thick hair. I cut my hair into a blunt bob to help is look thicker. I hope that is somewhat helpful.

My first night and no pain medication all night!!!! I'm sooo happy! I even woke up feeling good. My mouth is dry because I sleep on my back right now. It still feels weird to sleep on my side. Anyone have a solution? I miss my right side. I can do an angle, but not the full on right. :-). -
I JUST FOUND THIS. CHECK FOR YOURSELF. THERES LOTS OF INFO ONLINE. :-) Biotin: Biotin, otherwise known as Vitamin B-7 is an essential nutrient that can be found naturally in foods such as eggs, brewer’s yeast, cauliflower and cucumber to name a few. Biotin supports carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism and it is not common to have a Biotin deficiency. Many of us consume plenty of Biotin in our diets naturally, but it has also been shown that taking higher doses of Biotin in supplement form can greatly benefit the hair, skin and nails. Biotin for Hair Growth: Biotin has been called 'hair food' and rightly so, since one of the effects seen most often is an increased rate of growth in the hair when taking biotin supplements on a daily basis. The magic number seems to hover around 5000 mcg a day, with the daily consumption being very important. Being inconsistent with taking biotin will definitely vary your results. It's also important to let your clients know that hair growth will not happen over night. You will most likely see results after about a month or so. Biotin has also been shown to increase nail and eyelash growth and can be a great treatment for people who are suffering from eczema. Does Biotin Make all Hair on the Body Grow?: The question I get most often from my clients is, "Will the rest of the hair on my body grow too?". Thankfully, no. Unlike the hair on our head, the hair on our body is only programmed to grow to a certain length. This is what thankfully allows us to avoid having to cut and style our clients arm hair. Biotin Side Effects: Anyone who is pregnant or trying to become pregnant should avoid taking Biotin or consult their doctor before doing so. Biotin has also been shown to decrease the effectiveness of some heart and anti-seizure medications. Make sure to check with your clients and see what medications they are taking before suggesting Biotin.

I wonder if Biotin will help. I'm going to do some research.

I drink hot tea every morning now. It's decaf now. I don't have a problem getting my liquids in though. Eventually I'll add caffeine back in. They just don't want us to get dehydrated. Teavana has amazing teas! Drinking coffee for me was all about the ritual. I love the smell of coffee. I'm sure you could do hot chocolate now. Hershey's unsweetened cocoa, low fat milk, and sweeten with Stevia, microwave, and voila....hot chocolate! :-) best wishes on your journey!!!

Enjoy the ride! I'm sure 50lbs. Can still be felt. I have not weighed myself since my Post Op appt last week. I only lost 2 lbs.:-(. He said to not worry. I had lost 27 in the month prior to surgery. I'm noticing my lounge pants going further and further up my waste. Lol. Celebrate your wins! You deserve to regardless of your starting weight. :-). Congratulations!!! We've taken drastic measures to get our health back regardless of our preOp weight. Best to you!!!! -

I'm a single mom with a teenage son. Of course he has to eat or he gets grumpy. What I've learned having been out if surgery for a week and a half....I am not hungry. I have my own stuff and he has his. Eventually he'll be able to eat high Protein meals. The best thing you can do is make meals focused around that once he's at that stage. It's healthier for you and your kids anyway. White flour and white sugars should be banned from the grocery shelves. Lol. All in all he is make a huge life decision and he's blessed to have a wife who cares like you do. :-)
