Tomorrow is the big day :))
BarNone replied to MillyMillz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck and speedy recovery! Many blessings, Michelle -
So, I was having a pity party earlier today. I am tired, to wrung out, can't do this, can't do that. Had a nice talk on the phone with my sister. Checked my email and found all the wonderful responses to this thread. Had an energy burst and actually got myself to go out for a walk! I did wk 1, day 1 of C25K. I am not running, I just use it for motivation, a timer, and to remind to try to push myself now and again. I also liked to reminder to stretch at the end. Very proud of myself:) For the many people who have responded to this tread I say thank you, for your support and encouragement, and your willingness to share of your own exercise experiences. Many blessings, Michelle

Well I can certainly relate to your story! I like your plan. I was thinking of trying to modify the couch to 5k program. I would walk and on the run segments I would try to walk faster. I might be biting off more than I can chew, because I am a very slow walker and I am not certain I can gauge how much faster I would really be able to push, but not hurt, myself. Great job on your weight loss so far! Perhaps we could make it a goal to do our chosen walk and report back here. I know I need to have to own up to someone or a group of people whether I am doing it our not. How does that sound to you?

Ok you guys are scaring me now:( I have a lot of weight to loss, so lots of stored hormones to release. Yikes! Well at least I now have a scientific explanation for my family for when I am being a b*>?h. Usually I am all kind and caring, but right now I feel a big f-you to most people. Hope I don't flip out:) Well, this to shall pass. Many blessings Michelle

I am 3 weeks out and once a day I try very pureed food. Very soft and mushy. I can keep that down, so maybe you need to purée it first. Your stomach will still be sore and adjusting, so maybe go back to liquid for a few days and try again. That worked for me! Good luck on your journey Michelle

Hi all, thanks for reading! I had surgery on July 10. All in all it went well. I didn't have the major gas pains I usually do post surgery which is nice. What I do have is unending nausea with intermittent vomiting whether I eat or not. I am getting in between 300 and 500 calories per day. But it is a constant struggle. The other thing is, I have no energy whatsoever. Now yes I know this is a big surgery and recovery takes time. I just need feedback as to whether this is the regular experience of fellow sleepers, or if I need to be talking to so done about this nausea and energy. I pretty much sleep or sit around in a daze all day and night. Feedback is appreciated, thanks for sharing of your experiences.

Poop talk - sorry if it's TMI
BarNone replied to LisaCincyRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2.5 weeks out and still dealing with it. Though it has gotten better. My NUT got me started taking an iron supplement which has helped! Who knew. She also said to melt a little cheese in my soup, apparently that can help as well. I never knew my life would revolve around poop talk and nausea/vomiting, but I hope it is all for a good cause. To be on the safe side, seeing as I am terrified to leave to house for fear of an accident, I am looking into liners/pads to be on the safe side. Good luck in your recovery. Many blessings Michelle -
2.5 weeks post surgery questions
BarNone replied to BarNone's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for the feedback. I take Prevacid everyday. I missed it one day and definitely noticed a difference. I am concerned about my energy level because I am technically caring for 2 terminally ill parents. They still function rather well, but I am worried because I just don't have the energy to do much right now. -
2.5 weeks post surgery questions
BarNone replied to BarNone's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I find the calories easier than I thought to get in. Over the course of the day I drink 2 protein shakes, that combined have 60 grams of protein and 300 calories. Then I also get in a little soup once a day, which my nut told me to stick a little cheese in and melt it. The cheese is supposed to help with the unending diarrhea I was having. Well that and the added iron pill. They seem to be helping with that at least. But even my anti nausea liquid makes me viciously ill. Guess its time to talk to the doc. -

Well one week out of surgery now. Not sure what my weight is dont really want to know as my legs are still massively swollen. Still having lots of nausea and pain. I mean lots and lots of nausea. My drain pull was delayed by 2 days because of the amount of fluid that was still coming out of me. The dr is taking it out this afternoon, and then tomorrow I have a 6 hour drive home. Not much fun, but one step at a time. Mostly annoyed with the nausea and that I can't sleep on my side yet. But I am keeping stuff down and trying not to overdue It More to come I am sure Many blessings

Hi, What is the process for this. I just had a revision in great falls Would love to get some money back Thanks

Afternoon all Well, surgery was Wednesday and I got discharged on Friday evening. Overall I feel better than any other pre ions abdominal surgery that I have. I do have this persistent pain in my chest, which they think is from the gas the doctor pumps in, but I wonder if maybe it is from the drain tube. Gonna go rest now. Have a great day all:)

Hello beautiful people! I have been lurking for awhile. I love the flow of information and comraderie on this site! My sleeve surgery is this coming Tuesday, July 10. Like a few others on this site I am having a revision from a lap band. Problems with the band- yes. Problems with working the band- yes. But I am now putting that behind me and moving on. At 452 lbs I need some rapid weight loss just to function better in daily life. I am hoping for far fewer complications with this surgery, and more lasting weight loss. I wish you all the best and I look forward to hearing from those of you who like to leave a comment. Prayers and healing thoughts and energy are appreciated as I take this gigantic step forward. Many blessings, Michelle

Hi Thank you for the feedback. I am out of hospital now, and resting in the hotel room. At times I am getting strong chest pains, but they think those are occurring due to the gas they pumped into me. Tired, wrung out and on two different anti nausea drugs and one liquid pain killer Have a great weekend and thanks or the support!

Hi shellbell, Actually they moved my surgery to Wednesday, so a little longer yet. I will leave to drive down to great falls tommorow in late afternoon. Then I have to be at the hospital at 6.15 in the morning. I am nervous and scared, but also excited. In the end, I will have a tool, but the question is will I use my tool or let my old life consume me. I am praying for relief and divine intervention from this lifestyle. I hope to loss some weight quick, so that I can get active. Thank you for your prayers, they made me cry tonight. My uncle died yesterday, and I am caring for my two terminally ill parents. A lot is going on, but I feel I will not out live them for long if I do not act now. So, surgery for me this week, and life to be lived awhile longer hopefully. Many blessings, Michelle

Hi all, Are any of these devices able to only work with a mobile app. I currently only have an ipad to work with. Bodymedia says you need to have the computer to use it as well? Not sure about the fit it ones, so I thought I would check here. Thanks

I am just curious how frequently you post surgery people are weighing yourselves? I don't have a scale ( they are hard to find for someone my size), and I know I can get so frustrated with weighing that it concerns me. Yet after surgery I would like to know how I am doing. At my size weight loss can be hard to physically see. And I feel the need for some reinforcement of accomplishment, yet do not want to be focused only on what the scale says. Comments and feedback appreciated

That is incredible! Congratulations. As I am a larger size as well, can you tell me what you think the keys to your success have been. And how much exercise you are doing? Thanks -
200lbs from goal / body issues
BarNone replied to makemyownluck's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I so get you! I have my surgery on Wednesday this week, and I have over 300 lbs to lose. My family is hopeless as, when I loss weight no one notices and when I gain they all comment on how I am losing weight. At my size 50 lbs either way is hardly noticeable except in the physical stuff I do on a daily basis. I hope to loss a lot of weight, and your 82 lbs thus far is fantastic. So stop for a moment and just notice the other things that have occurred. Maybe you don't worry about what the seating is everywhere you go now. Maybe you aren't thinking about food all the time. Whatever it is find something that you are grateful for in this journey and don't swim in that pit of despair that can engulf us as we see how much further we have to go! Thank you for your honesty and willingness to post your feelings. This is an important topic for us discuss. Many blessings -
Hi all, While not currently over 500, I was over that at some point. My surgery is this week and I too wonder about having the ability to loss the weight with one procedure. I am converting from a lap band which was nothing but pain and problems. I have heard of the 2 procedure because that is actually how they figured out that people would loss a lot of weight with the sleeve and often would not need the malabsorption procedure/ bypass later. So they began offering the sleeve on its own, and it has taken off! I know that I will never overt to the bypass. It has way to many complications and I have yet to meet someone with a good outcome. Good luck to all. I will try to update you a few days after my surgery, Michelle

Hi all, Not sure how active this forum is. I have surgery on July 10. I am over 450 lbs, and love that there is a group with higher starting weights on here. I am mentally struggling with the thought of whether I can really do this after the surgery. food has been my best friend and crutch for so long, that I do not know life without it. I spent my entire 20's as a shut in due to weight and depression. The last 10 years I have been breaking out of that isolation, but the weight is well....a major weight holding me back. Everything revolves around it and I am so done with that. I want a life for goodness sake. Not just an endless buffet of food and misery! Thanks for the forum, and all of your shares. I value your experiences and your courage. Many blessings, Michelle
