    Help!

That is ridiculous! I had a doc tell me that and I waited a 14 months before I saw another surgeon. I am 5 1/2 months out from my band to sleeve revision and I've lost 81 lb. Yup- 81! Find another doc!

Pouch on top of sleeve ?

I have the same thing. In fact my doc says that every band to sleeve revision he's done results in a pouch above the sleeve. He told me that when he does the sleeve it looks normal, but because that upper tissue is stretchy from over dialation with the band, it makes a pouch. That makes it really important to measure out your food as it is easy to eat too much and when the food proceeds down the sleeve it could really stretch out over time.
  4. My story sounds just like yours, although I had more than 25 fills and unfills and lost 95 lb.s from constant vomiting. When I went for my revision ( with my original surgeon ) he was so empathetic I was amazed. The band has a very high failure rate. Best of luck to you. Kim
  5. If your doc wants you doing a liquid diet for weight loss prior to surgery, it is usually protein shakes, like premier protein from Costco. Do call and ask your doc. Kim, Band to Sleeve and loving it!
  6. Oh dear, your story is very similar to mine. I started with my 1st band on 2005. I proceeded to vomit my way from 330 down to 235. Soon after that I had to have my band repositioned. Then although I still threw up fairly often, I never felt full. I had at least 30 fills/unfills until a doc convinced me to take all of the fluid out. That was about 3 years ago and when I finally got my band out in March I was back to 340. 3 months later I got sleeved (at 345). I'm 2 months out and down 48 lbs. It hasn't been a bed of roses, but I'm very glad I did it. I am full on very little and have only thrown up 3 times. The sleeve is what the band promised to be. Best of luck, Kim
  7. I would have given her my cold look and said, " Yes, I can see why you aren't supposed to say anything." I would have held my cold look in her eyes until she turned away.

    Band to Sleeve; Weight Gain?

I had to do the 3 month wait. I hoped to use that time to lose weight, but I only lost a few pounds. It was hard, but I think it was a good idea. I had my original band in 2005 and had it repositioned on 2008. I had my band removed in March of this year. My doc said it took a long time to remove it because I had so much scar tissue. Then 3 months later I went in for my sleeve and he found a big hernia and lots more scar tissue that had been hidden. That operation was 4 1/2 hours. In hindsight, I am so glad we did it this way. Who knows how long I would have been under if we did it in one step. I have healed slowly. It took 4 weeks before I started to feel OK. I'm 6 weeks out now and am not completely back to normal. I'm older - 55 and I'm sure that made a difference. BUT, good luck. The sleeve is wonderful!Kim
